I think I was in about 6th grade when this came out, we had a school talent show that year and 4 eighth graders performed this song. I was part of the stage crew. That was about the coolest thing I’d ever seen in my life. Still remember it clear as day.
I was in 6th grade also when Gloria came out along with the rest of the British Invasion songs on KYA and KEWB in S.F. which still play in my head to this day. I was learning how to be a drummer at that time from Ringo (of course) and the great drummers from the British Invasion bands. Some of the earliest jazz beats I learned were from Them "Mystic Eyes" and The Animals "House of the Rising Sun" toward the end of the song. Since then, I've played in bands for over 55 years, all because of the British Invasion
Excellent! My band mate (on piano/organ) and I (guitar) are well on years. We just started an oldies band. This is definitely on our set list! Thanks for the whole song!
I was wondering where I saw that cool Stones shirt and today I found it. Great song! This always reminds me of the movie The Outsiders. Cool shirt, nice job! G L O R I A 😜
As with most of your cover/lesson videos, your version of Gloria is the closest to the recording by Them of any others on RUclips. Perfect tone and chord excecution. Cheers!
That single had Baby, Please Don't Go on the flip side which seemed like a bonanza to me, with that unforgettable twangy riff and the kozmik solo that may or may not have been Jimmy Page. Both songs were like crack for my ears, and they hadn't even invented it yet.
Used to play this in our school group concerts......it was quite easy to play....but our attempts at the other side of the single “Baby please don’t go” weren’t quite as good!
My all-time favorite rock and roll song. I know it's sacrilege, but I'm partial to the Shadows of Knight version. Them is next, then the Patti Smith Group.

You must be in your 70's then?

Hendrix did a kick-ass rendition of this song

Reminds me of the outsiders
Same
My favorite part in the movie. On the way to the drive in theater. You know how to play 52 pic up?

no way is that sacrilege
Marble River I like that one, too. But Them’s version gets the nod because Jimmy Page plays on it. :)
What type of Gretsch?
