I did this, to my Kenmore. Be careful. When you separate the two pieces as illustrated, it bends the stainless steel tabs at the bottom of the door where it connects to the internal door. When I screwed it back together, by pulling the internal and external door apart, it bent the flanges at the bottom enough to leave a 1/4" gap between the glass and the bottom of the stainless steel. I had to take the door off (easy), unscrew the outside stainless steel from the internal door, and use pliers to renew the tabs where the screws are located back to 90 degree. It all worked out in the end.
I have my door taken apart, cleaned, and ready to reassemble. I didn't notice that anything bent when I took it apart. But I also tend to be incredibly careful and gentle with projects like this. I'm having to watch the video, though, to follow the reassembly order.
This is exactly what I needed. Thank you for showing me it is possible, and not too difficult, to get rid of the ugly streaks between the glass. I’m with the wife … if I can’t see the dirt I probably won’t clean it!
Thank you so much. I used to take out the door but one time the hinge lock released in the closed position when the door was off the oven and it took me hours to bring it back to the open position without breaking the glass! It was a pain and I always dreaded redoing it in the future until I saw This video! This way is definitely easier for a quick clean after a spill. There are screws at the bottom of the stainless steel front panel that could get bent if you bring the door all the way up so I had my wife help me hold the oven door at the 30 degree position to help prevent that from happening. Thank you so much for the awesome lifehack 😀👍🤙
What a great video. It is so realistic and exactly what we need when we are doing a task that it should be easy but it is not because of bad design. All their conversation is making laugh so much. I don't think this can be done alone. Thank you for all the full video. The first video I saw was a guy alone saying "First, you take the oven door off... 🙄". Stopped the video after that
I know right all the sterile videos that people put on in perfect situation they’re not doing a real world project which always is harder than what they show you. Good luck and thanks for watching.
Thank you both for recording this video. I have a Kenmore Oven. That dirty glass in the middle is driving me bananas. What size drill bit did you use for your drill? 😊
1) Its actually super easy to just take the door off the oven, then you can work on the ground. You just flip the little hinge locks down and the door comes right off. If you do that, things like taking the panel apart, putting the handle back on, etc are all way easier.. 2) I am pretty sure the area where the 2 parts of the door meet is not meant to move like a hinge, you are bending the metal tabs that hold the 2 together and they will break, you probably should take the door off and unscrew those tabs to separate the door panels to do this without breaking anything..
That’s one of the good things about videotaping if you forget where stuff goes, you can go back and look and figure it out. Good luck and thank you for watching.
I took the door off, spent half the day trying to figure out how to get inside the 2 glass pieces inside the main door after taking the glass (what you have laying flat) thought Mt streaks were gone, when I was done getting every outer inch clean, there were still streaks inside the main 2 pieces of glass behind lots of screws! Going to finish tomorrow, I'm fried!!
@@TomLeeman Got it clean, but I took it apart to do so. Now I'm watching your video again so I can figure out how it goes back together. I probably should have recorded my own process so I could follow it in reverse order.
Success! It turns out I only needed to remove the top screws for the handle one small screw at each side (and maybe the side screws were optional, too; I'd have to redo it to find out), and the 4 screws at the bottom. The glass naturally reseats itself. No lining it up so carefully for fear of the hinges was necessary. It only fits where it is SUPPPOSED to fit, for lack of a more precise explanation. The hinge lock system is super easy on this model, and from another video I knew to open the door all the way first, after pushing the hinges back in, in order to lock the locks, THEN close the door. And done! I should add that I did not go the extra mile and open up the very middle window, as you did not here as well. It wasn't dirty between the panes because there really isn't much of a way for anything to get in there. There is a video with a different 2007 white model where he shows how to open that part. Just didn't seem necessary.
Letting the door all the way up bends the metal at the bottom. There are screws that should probably be taken off, but it is a pain. I don't think you can do this repeatedly because the metal will probably break after repeated bending.
I did this- and it seemed to go well- but now I have a gap of nearly 1/2 inch where the outside metal frame of the door meets the glass- so now I get to pay a repairman to come out and fix it-
I don't know why they don't make it easier for people to clean the oven glass when they design a stove..they darn well know **** is going to drip down into the holes..I only use the oven once or twice a year so from the inside I covered the holes with black tape...I have a huge convection oven I use a lot.
Thanks, I have this same oven and have been wondering how the heck to clean this. What a dumb design though. We shouldn’t have to take our ovens apart to clean them. Sheesh.
The lady is very annoying.. how can one think of using a razor to clean a already cleaned glass door... Just use wet wipes ... she is so impatient... I would have yelled at her ... the guy is so cool with her...

I’m not quite sure. I can’t remember I’m gonna have to go look but I think it was a Phillips head. Thanks for watching.

Needed to do this right after Thanksgiving. Thanks!
yup oven gets dirty
Stainless steel scrubbers and Krud Kutter work great for this. I'm not needing the razor blade
Good luck on your cleaning job and thank you for watching

Tape the handle in place prior to screw removal

Thanks that’s the way every project goes
If u want to get married this is what it’s like. I thought they where gonna fight for real
No we just have spirit it arguments she’s the best I love her
Great help!
thanks
OMG- If Laurel and Hardy cleaned the glass door of a Kenmore stove-
Yup
It does comes from where you clean it, from on the outside. Drives me nuts. Bad engineering. If not for that, we wouldn’t have to do it :D
They definitely don’t make it easy
I need to clean between other glass and you did not show which screws that take it out.
Looked like just the top 2 screws that are attached to the handle. I have 3 screws down each side. I think they just did the top 2.
Sorry about that
Next time, hide the razorblade and tell her to go shopping.
L O L
i cant watch her anymore
OK thanks for watching
wow, your wife doesn't listen to a word you say. Just like me
If I want my opinion she’ll give it to me laugh out loud thanks for watching
I thought they were going to divorce 5X during this video. I sure hope that he can sleep tonight after this for her sakes
That is how every single project in our house goes
Wow! Next time leave her out of the video! Geez! You have more patience than I do. I’m a woman and she annoyed the crap out of me!
That’s my every day life!
@@TomLeeman yikes! No way!
omg the wife is not helping
She is a stern taskmaster
Get that fricking woman out of there!!
Basically she’s the boss of me
useful...but too many hands on ..she really does not help
She’s impatient and wants to get it done fast
Pull it out & give it to her ! lol
really bad video looks like a debate instead of a tutorial..i think only one people should be doing the talk..got me all lost there
Good luck clean your oven thanks for watching
This video was sort of helpful but whoever was holding the camera made it annoying to watch.
Thanks for the tip!
