I’ve made 3 Noodlehead Crescent tote for various people in my life. One of them has seen more of the world than I have! 😂 It is presently in S Korea right now. Kate, I feel we could be best friends! Anyone that starts their video with grab a big cup of tea or G & T is quite likely going to be my best friend! XOX
Thanks Kate , I’ve only made bags that have a sew along : The Factotum Bag , Orton bag ( Big ) Jack Tar bag all from M&M and all wonderful . The Field Bag and the bigger Town Bag from Grainline with fantastic sew alongs .
Thanks Kate ! Sew alongs are wonderful , M&M have Orton Bag ( that’s a BIG one) Factotum bag, and Jack Tar Bag sew alongs available for all 3 . Grainline has Field Bag and Town Bag sew alongs too . I’m hoping a few more will come along , great for beginners . 0:02
I made 3 Sandhill Slings, then I reduced the height by a couple of inches and made 2 crossbody ones, then finally made a slightly taller crossbody one for my husband. It's the first thing I've ever made for him
Thank you for this edit. Feels though good curation for those of us with solid dressmaking background and understand clothing fabrics. Will hit your website for deeper browse. I’ve long admired Oro Rosa bag patterns, and seen a few American bloggers with lovely bags. But they feel daunting to me, loads of specific hardware to track down, not typical scraps or fabrics. Not seen many makes here in Europe, though working in imperial units would do my head in. Hopefully the patterns you have suggested have metric options/ metric hardware options esp.
Next time you wonder how someone in the USA describes something, know this, we can’t even agree on how to pronounce our state names when we live here. The melting pot is not a clear broth, but a muddy stew.
I really like several of your new clothes. The dress with belt options I prefer with buckle, that Japanese vest really changes the look of the dress! I love the Xmas dress but my favorite is that first one - orange- is gorgeous! And yes I very much appreciate your vlogs❤
Great video as always Kate - thank you. Working out which interfacing is best always puts me off as well as sourcing all the hand ware but I’ve bought the new L’Oeuf bag this week so I’m going to do some searching for 2 way zips in the UK today!
I am quietly addicted to bag-making and I didn't realise this until I saw your video and totted up how many I have made (at least six recently!) I self drafted a couple of gusseted totes but also made the Noodle Head Making backpack which is fab. I learnt loads about interfacing from making this bag. Just this morning I bought the Cousette Musette pattern, so I am off making a really neat weekend bag now (pattern is in French though).
I made the Buckthorn backpack two months and it is by far my most used bag ever since. I use it every single day, even for work, and finally don’t need to switch bags all the time. Very useful pattern.
Thanks for this collection of patterns! I've got the Sandhill sling cut out and ready to go! And the Hey June bag! I picked up a very similar one from Target that used a magnetic snap to hitch it up - The snap has never worked, (😣) and finding out that I can re-create that bag is awesome!!
Great ideas! But I’m a bit intimidated by bag making because I think I would choose all the wrong materials. Are there any complete kits? The Merchant and Mills would obviously help with its hardware kit but l’m also worried about the main fabric. I tithe Matchy Matchy one would be a good start too. Thanks Kate! 😊
There isn't I'm afraid for that pattern. The Jack Tar bag is similar thefoldline.com/product/jack-tar-bag/ and I found a sewalong someone recorded for it: www.google.com/search?q=jack+tar+bag+pattern+sew+along&oq=jack+tar+bag+pattern+sew+along&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigAdIBCDcyNjZqMGo3qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:1a4b6169,vid:NZ7Cyz1bREM,st:0
Great idea! I'll add it to the list ❤️ in the meantime, you might like this top 10 we pulled together some time ago thefoldline.com/2022/02/12/top-10-sewing-patterns-to-start-sewing-lingerie/

Love this bag roundup, thank you, Kate!
Glad you like it!
The Bag and a Half is basically the same as an IKEA bag. This is a Good Thing.
Would love a G & T now. However, my family might be a little concerned if I start drinking at 8:00 in the morning. 😅
😅

Named Clothing have recently released a pattern for a pretty stylish yoga mat bag, and Puff and Pencil have some fun little bags, as well.

My mum made me one of the Matchy Matchy totes as a gift and I love it! The pocket is just the right size for my kindle.
Great round up 😊. I’m definitely enjoying the enthusiasm for bag making in the sewing community at the moment. I’m on to bag number 2 this year.
Love the Buckthorn Backpack fancy making one of those, so on the list xx
Thanks, Kate! I have been thinking about getting started on bagmaking for a while, and this might be the push that I need. :)
Go for it!

Noodlehead patterns are fantastic. I have made 2 Sandhills slings, and several of her other patterns!
I have made the grainline bag for knitting projects. Your bag edit video reminds me that I should make another.
You should!

I'm making 3 of the Haralson bags right now, really easy to put together.

The Grainline bags used to come as complete kits, fabric, hardware and all. I haven’t looked lately.
The Hey June looks very much like the Rebecca Minkoff backpack that went viral a few years ago.
Loved this! I'm going to make some bags for my nieces.
Have fun!
Is there a video tutorial for the Marjorie Sling?
Very visual learner!

Glad it was helpful!
Yes, 'rucksack' vs 'backpack' is a UK vs America thing. Americans say 'backpack', while Brits say 'rucksack'.
Great video! Could you do a lingerie version of this?
