The whole sequence around Kendra's death is so well done. The tension just builds and builds, and the moment Dru steps up, you know its all over. Also, I think it's kinda fitting that it's Drusilla who takes out Kendra. Kendra is all fight, strength, and brawn (because she believes that's what she needs to be) but she's unprepared for an opponent like Drusilla, who is all mind, intuition, and feeling. Like, we see in the next ep that Giles can (at first) kind of resist Drusilla's pull, even though he's been tortured for hours and he's completely exhausted. But Kendra just folds the second Dru catches her gaze. It kind of highlights that Buffy isn't just powerful because of her physical strength, it's her emotional strength that sets her apart.
18:22: "Imagine how creepy that would be if a man came up to you and started saying you're the chosen one" Ah, in those years it was happening all over the place. Buffy, Neo, Anakin, Frodo, Harry Potter - all had some strange old man come up to them and tell them they are the one chosen to lead the fight in a war they didn't even know was happening. Kids back then were dreaming this would happen to them.
He _does_ have a good villain walk! finally, somebody said it. Actually, all of them have good villain walks, right? I must say, this is the first time I've been able to participate in the baked goods camaraderie, and it's made the whole experience better. Like taste-o-vision. Same with Willow, so excited she gets to learn magic.
"i've been using it as a paperweight." that was a callback. when jenny calendar bought hers, the shopkeep mentioned that he had sold a few as paperweights.
12:42 It's not just Miss Calendar - Angelus has murdered a lot of people since he came back. A few examples that where shown in the show itself: the woman he kills immediately after loosing his soul, Theresa in 2/15, the shopgirl who literally got her heart ripped out by Angelus in 2/16, the girl he killed in the alley behind the Bronze in 2/17...and there are untoubtedly many more.
Once they found the curse they should have put Willow to work restoring not just Angel's soul but the soul of every vampire they could think of. A whole army of insufferably broody superheroes, lol.
we don't know if it works with any one else, e.g they never mention Angel by name in the curse but it somehow understands that it's his soul that they want to put back.
The orbs of Thesulah are single-use (whenever we see one used to restore a soul, it vanishes afterwards - one orb, one soul, one successful use) and we don't know how many of them there are. Considering the curse has an escape clause and Angel is one good day away from murdering and torturing all his friends, and so he might need to be re-ensouled at some point, better safe than sorry.
@@Talisguy yes, but why does angel deserve all these chances more than any other vampire does -- especially given that liam was never a great guy in the first place? be better to just stake angel now and use the orb on a more deserving vampire.
@@sirmoonslosthismind A few reasons: Because he was given his soul as a punishment and Angelus is so awful that he *is* pretty much uniquely deserving of a soul. Because no soulless vampire can be "more deserving" of a chance at redemption than Angel. They're all selfish, murderous assholes, because they have no souls and thus no capacity for genuine, unsullied altruism. And redemption can never be "deserved," it is *earned* by people who, by definition, are not entitled to it. Because there seem to be *at least* millions of vampires in the world and there probably aren't millions of Orbs of Thesulah, so you're always going to be making somewhat arbitrary judgements about who does or doesn't get a soul when you could only re-ensoul a fraction of the vampiric population. Because you couldn't be sure that a vampire with a soul wouldn't just immediately commit suicide, completely wasting a precious orb, unless you already knew from prior experience that they could handle living as a pariah burdened by crippling guilt. And because we have limited supplies of empathy. We *can't* care equally about everyone. It's not possible. If the deaths of anonymous disaster victims on the other side of the world affected you just as much as the death of your parents then you couldn't function. You'd be traumatised every time you read the news. ...Now imagine how it would be if your job was to kill vampires to save lives and you cared about all of them as much as you cared about your boyfriend, if you were heartbroken about their wasted potential for redemption. She was never going to just kill Angel and look for someone "more deserving" even if she could find someone.
With regard to your cookie design skills - doesn't matter had cookies! Also, sing-song "someone wasn't worthy" is why Spike is THE best character on the show.
It was very strange to me to hear James Marsters in an interview with his real accent instead of Spike's Mockney (fake Cockney). Asterix is the French comic book character. '*' is an asterisk. "And you fall for it every single time' It's true, she left them unprotected in the Library at the beginning of the season. Admittedly this time Kendra was there, but unfortunately she was not sufficient.
I have to disagree with you about Xander having a point. One thing that was established multiple times in the series is that the vampire is not the same individual as the human (particularly "Angel" and "Lie to Me"). The key factor is the soul. In a vampire, the soul is gone and a demon takes its place. When the Gypsies cursed Angelus they brought the soul back and the demon, while still present was trapped within him ("The Dark Age"). When Angel lost his soul, he, in effect died again and the demon took over. Bringing the soul again would mean imprisoning the demon again. Angel, with soul, did not do all the horrible things. That was the demon. It's an important distinction. Xander, however, doesn't care about that distinction. Neither did the Gypsies, apparently, but that's not relevant to the current situation.
Came here (late) to say this. Xander’s focus on Buffy getting her “boyfriend” back shows if he can’t have her no one can. He is wrong from S1E1 until S7E22.
Becoming part 1 was a great lead into the brilliant S2 finale Becoming part 2. So much in this episode to digest. The loss of Kendra, Angel's back story being turned by Darla, and we also see Drusilla being tormented by Angelus in The Confessional. At least the floppy disk has been found, and Willow can now work her magic. We now have the climax to come, and you will not be disappointed a brilliant last episode to come. I think you can now really see how this show engrosses all reactors that enter The Buffyverse! and, S3 is a near flawless Season, even better than this!
I think Xander is pretty wrong when he argues about not restoring Angel's soul. Angel and Angelus aren't the same being, Angel died when his soul was ripped from him. It's why Buffy blames herself for his death, because she gave him the happiness that led to his death and a demon taking over his body (yeah, for Angel it's a little different because the demon is always within him, but it's still a similar concept to when a human is made into a vampire - souled Angel is not demon-controlled Angelus). Xander should understand that concept by now. To Buffy, what Xander is saying is not to try to save the life of someone she loves.
right?! I love how she's a massive chicken too. it's so fun, especially when you've seen the show a million times so you know when to look at her because you can't wait to see how cute her reaction is gonna be.
omg you are my all-time my spirt person I love your reaction it's weird I react to your reactions it feels like your actually reacting to my reaction to you lol
"Its part 1 so nothing is going to happen." She says confidently :)

Personally, I love Drusilla's floaty little villain stroll.
The Buffy/Angel theme playing over Buffy finding Kendra’s body has always killed me. I’m excited for the finale! I hope it’s not too long!
That's one of my favorite pieces of music in anything ever. It sounds like a heart breaking.

2/21 and 2/22 are just epic. I never get tired of seeing them.
I remember the first time watching them! 😭😭
You're right they should be doing that in homes. Random vampires can't just get in your home.
