@@triggz3453 you may want to try using it as a tablet online without carplay. But that might defeat the purpose of what you're trying to do. Keep in mind, you can activate a mobile hotspot on your phone without buying a stand-alone hotspot. I'm sure your phone has that capability. I guess big question is, If you're trying to use carplay, you don't need internet because the phone is already providing it. That's just the way the interface works, but you will be limited to the features of carplay as it is supposed to be safe for driving. But if you're looking to watch movies on netflix or browse social sites when parked, you need to leave carplay unplugged and just use it as an online tablet.

Headup navigation works always?
@@soulebuerste9274 yes, but only if you are using the stock Idrive navigation in the vehicle. Using carplay or Android auto will just show navigation on the display screen.
But the heads up display works for your speedometer, etc as always.
Thinking about getting this. Are you still satisfied? Does it show an android logo every time you turn your car on? Does the audio from android auto seem to be the same as it was before? A little worried going aftermarket.
Yes, I love it. As far as a boot screen, you can set it with several pre-loaded options but if you want an Android logo or maybe the logo of the make of your car, you might have to get one from the manufacturer or somebody else online. And yeah, the sound is the same. At least in my opinion it is. It really is a nice, clean head unit.
Did you have to use the AUx to armrest or did it work without it?
No. It works without it.
@Scantron5k will I have to do something different in an E60 (CIC)?
do you need wifi hotspot on if you are using wireless android auto?
Nope. Wireless Android auto works just fine without Wi-Fi hotspot.
@@Scantron5k thanks! I was wondering if i should do the tasker thing /w google map or use android auto
@@jonot8547 when I originally shot this video, I thought I would use the hotspot way more. I find that I just use Android auto exclusively now.
@@Scantron5k hmm interesting how come? thanks btw
How do you know what version you have nbt or cic?
I'm pretty sure it cuts off at a certain year.
Hello, im searching for a display to buy for my CIC 2010 5 series but im not sure which brand to buy, this one( this model but cic version) seems like a high quality one, now a year later, would you still recommend it?
Yes, absolutely. It's a great head unit. Link to buy is in my description.
@@Scantron5k have you tried the apple carplay? If yes how is it? Any ghost touches? Sound still the same?
Thanks
@@x3vale828 yes, I have tested the car play. Everything works just fine.
Is it possible to split screen youtube and google maps?
I think so, but you'd have to use the tether hack that I cover in the video. It would be like being on wifi instead of carplay/android auto.
Any issues or lose of sound quality via AUX and the Andriod playback? or the same (I have HK audio and hope to not loose quality).
Nope. I've never had an issue with it and it sounds great.
@@Scantron5k dude you reply very quickly, thank you! :) kudos to u.
@@focusmicro no problem just make sure that when you buy one, you buy it through the link that I provided in the description lol!
Hi, does the screen wobble when driving on the road?
or is it firm like a rock?
It's rock solid. I actually secured a small piece of foam rubber behind the head unit between the dash in order to take any and all potential play out of the equation.
@@Scantron5k I wish you could do the install for me man
i have to look up a garage to have them install for me because im very bad with cars
@@qaching yeah man I hear ya.
@@Scantron5k Also is it rock solid because you pushed the screen all the way down/in?
because i have the same bracket as yours (except for the 2 hooks that looks a little different, but the 4 holes are the same)
@@qaching yeah, it is slid all the way down on the bracket. I also used another piece behind it against the dash to further secure it.
Its only wired Carplay/Android Auto and not WIFI & Wired Carplay/Android Auto?
There is wireless AA and CP is that's what you're asking.
@@Scantron5k ah ok, odd why they give option to add Cp and aa wired and wireless as an extra for this product, if it already comes with it.
@@focusmicro no idea. But I can tell you that it has both features.
@@Scantron5k thanks very much!
Sweet car, pulls a little to the left at about 90…
I got one recently and it works great but mine doesn't switch back to the original oem software when i hold the menu button. It was worked once randomly but since then when i switch to oem system screen just turns black. Does anyone know how to fix this
You can try a factory reset or you can reach out to the manufacturer and see if they will exchange it for a new one.
by the way, do u know what sim card the touch screen is supposed to use?? i keep getting a " no sim detected message'plz help i need the internet on mine!!
Damn man I wish I knew. I don't use a sim in mine. You can enable wireless hotspot on your phone and share data and it'll work exactly the same.
ok soo i got rid of the sim and bought a tmobile hot spot, now my issue is that when the zlink app starts carplay it automaticly turns off my internet connection, why wont the internet stay connected when that app starts up? is there any way to stop that an leave my connection on all the time
@@triggz3453 you may want to try using it as a tablet online without carplay.
But if you're looking to watch movies on netflix or browse social sites when parked, you need to leave carplay unplugged and just use it as an online tablet.
that's the thing carplay starts automatically, is there a way to turn it off manually
@@triggz3453 you probably have the settings aligned to make sure that car play starts on boot. Play around with the settings and make sure that it only turns on if you connect it or plug it in directly.
Just got this and the unit does not shut off when i turn the car off
Also it does not auto vonnect to the reverse camera unless you are in oem mode
Also the idrive controller does not work with the android screen any fixes?
Weird… I don't have either of these issues. My reverse camera will override everything as soon as it's put in Reverse. Are you sure you wired everything in correctly? I don't have any problems with mine shutting off either.
Hey I have the same thing my idrive don’t work and I have a code the says sienten restraint too can’t you guys help me thanks
@@miguelrosario6485 I don't have this issue. I would contact the sellers and they can advise.
@@miguelrosario6485its been 8months, have you fixed it?
Hi, is it compatible with CAMP2 headunit ?
I honestly don't know.
great vid💪🏾💯‼️
I installed something similar in my F82, but when I use the voice button on the steering wheel when in Android mode it still activates the iDrive voice commands. Does yours work properly?
Yes, mine works properly but keep in mind, the Android system is not meant to be integrated with the iDrive system. They are two totally different operating systems. So if you push the microphone button on your steering wheel, it is going to use your stock iDrive controls.
Ahh ok, got it. Is the best method for voice commands Google Assistant then using "Ok Google"?
@@Jaiz3r0 yes, either that or just tapping the microphone button on your screen when you're using carplay.
Another quick question. Does your weather widget update, or does it stay stuck on Washington? Mine sometimes updates, other times it just stays stuck. I've got a 3D lock in the GPS test app.
@@Jaiz3r0 I've only messed with the widget once or twice. I actually never use it to be honest so I wouldn't be able to confirm one way or the other.
I installed the same on my bmw e87 but have sound problems if I play music from my phone thrue the android display or from youtube the sound is distorted and have a buzzing în the speakers
Any one have a clue how can I fix this?
I bought the ground loop but to no success.
I wish I had an answer for you, but I'm wondering if it might be the unit itself. Have you contacted them to see about a warranty exchange?
All jokes aside, plug n play harnesses are the only way to fly! Friends don’t let friends use T-taps
Dude, amen.
My cousin recently relocated to the PNW
She had a defunct Parrot & SiriusXM radio somehow still attached
She got an android headunit, which accomplishes all of that (& MORE)
I was on the phone with her when her installer said, it'll be $300 more to uninstall those devices
He explained wires had been spliced inorder to install, etc
I asked her to put me on speaker
I said, each of those units are plug-n-play. Connectivity is achieved via wiring harnesses. While you have the dashboard open, all you have to do is unplug those devices & pull the harnesses
I don't think the installer liked me
I didn't like him, either
I told her to get another opinion
She did
They always try to finesse.
Will it fit 2012-2015 650i F13
Follow the link in my description. It will take you to the website where you can check the make and model of your vehicle to make sure it fits.
Is this in QLED?
Honestly, not sure.
Why is android auto on wireless only like half the screen :o ??
That has been fixed with an update. I typically use it wired anyway because a wired connection is always quicker.
DOPE ASF thanks!
send me a buy link to this same tv wall mount & ill send buyers to your cab page & vewers to you . ty in advance. trying to rottate my 55" tv for shooters some one please help
Good content.
Please what is the password for the WiFi antenna?
"the GPS antenna is doing its job". But if you are in carplay/android auto, the GPS data is coming from your phones GPS chip. The GPS antenna from the device would only be in use if you use the on board software. I never would so that be a pointless installation for me
Perhaps I should have showcased this a bit more when I was using my Wi-Fi tethering. The GPS antenna also did its job when it was using the Wi-Fi tether and I pulled up Google Maps that way as well.
You can get youtube on Android auto.
Damn I thought Tesla harness clips were some dumb shit, those BMW ones give me anxiety
That's half the reason why I never wanted to fuck with the stock system.
My British girlfriend made me grow my hair out and it basically look just like yours and I just shaved it all off and she broke up with me lol
HAHAHAHAHAHA
I have 2012 535i xdrive is it NBT or CIC help please @scantron5k
