Richard this is not a sailing boat. It's a motor sailor. A displacement hull with a mast.
Steel hull is great. Its a great boat to start learning about sailing.Its an automated and very easy to handle motor sailer. You can use the sails and if you find strong winds you can always neutralize them using the controls and you can always use the engines. Needs a lot of restoration im sure you have to check engines , pumps , fridges , air con,compressors , it will be slow at 8 knots, you'll need a crew member also.
You can use it as a charter boat to have some income , Azimut is a standard and safe choice but its not a Pershing or a Princess , ..good luck
if his kids attend some training + jon can they handle it?

@@ianmoone6562 At the beginning they will need an experienced skipper , his older son can help but not at the beginning and not to a heavy weather situation.Joon needs training , seminars and some heavy weather practices .

Sounds Great! Must be very hard to resist if you have the means to buy it, I mean, what a beauty! This is a real ship. My ultimate dream boat for sure! But I guess if you buy it, you will consider is this something I can and will do, live on this beauty full time for a loong time? You would want to do that if you buy such a boat, that’s what it’s for.. And first serious work to learn more and practice, so a way of life that may or may not be good timing and possible.. No matter result, thanks for showing us!👍🏻🌟💕

Lol the amount of work that needs to be done. By the time they are done upgrading it. They will be close to moving to another country and sell the boat.
But that is the reason to have the motor sailer, so they can explore the world and take all of us along.
That's the point.....its sort of their formula. Buy house/boat that needs work, fix it up, use vlog to market it, sell at a premium.
It's just another You Tube charade. To flaunt fake wealth and live on borrowed time. At least Casey Neistat worked his tail off
@@christophsteiner60 Jon has worked his tail off just as much maybe even more than Casey. Jon is just very smart with his money and knows how to invest and start businesses and never stops. Casey made his money and moved on.

Coming from a yacht captain, don’t buy an Azimut. You will have so many problems. Think about a used San Lorenzo or new princess with the 2 yr warranty

I was going to say the same thing about Azimuts I ran 4 of them from the late 80's through to 98.
Might be out of Richard's budget, but the San Lorenzo 120 on Aquaholic's channel..OMG!

Sailing Yachts have always been my favorite. But after working on them and on large motor yachts the space difference is just insane. It is pretty much like a normal hobby sailboat but scaled up

Boats are extremely hard to flip for a profit. That's why you never see anyone saying "do this" compared to house flips

They have sailed the world for many years on a 60 foot yacht. There videos teach alot. He has sailing school videos. How to leave the ports, what to check, how to fix. They have 100.000 of followers. Note on that 100 footer, you could hire just a captain and first mate for a few weeks at a time. They sail it. You guys help, and learn along the way. But before you buy anything.
Why not charter a 50 sailing yacht for 5 days.
And see if you like it. Sailing, is a young man's game unless you have a crew. Richard , only your girl friends are getting younger, not you.( joke ).
A day of you captain a sailing yacht anchor. Ect, you'll be so tired no boom boom time. You'll fall asleep, ( a joke, but true.)

Sailboats that size are super cool but require some crew, and not the "good kind"(chefs, stewardesses- but instead deckhands).
I could definitely recommend a catamaran though, like 55-65-feet. Could fit two families and can be run single-handed.

Surprised about the space of the sailingboat. Like Jon said. the former yacht is like a camping while this is an appartement.
I would always choose for sailing. Love the silence and the wind. The fun is more complete. And if you want you can do motorboating too.
Motorboating only is only running the motor.

You should go get a Sunreef Catamaran ... they have from 50 ft up to 150 ft, better than a mono-hull, bigger living areas, etc

This sailboat is the absolute sensational feeling adventure every man should have this…start alone to tor around the world make a perfect captain, get to know thousands of other adventurerers and built up a dream to explore the world fully autonomous…with sails …of course 120 Tons…you got to have a 5000HP speed boat onboard to get to places around your route fast …and a magical fully electric passenger carrier hydrofoil for shallow waters to take tourists on an adventure ! I would take the sailboat is it could house the speedboat and the hydrofoil…

Buy a cheap 30 foot sailboat. Go cruise in 25-30 knot winds. See how many things you break, and then multiply the price of repairs with the factor of the price difference between the boats. Seriously though sailboats are awesome. It takes a weekend to learn how to sail, but a lifetime to master. This is why they're so much fun.

Jon, and Richard. What to think about sailing yacht or motor yacht. 1. First gets you there quicker. But like you know, 30.000 dollars in fuel gos quickly. A motor sail yacht is the best of both worlds. No winds, start the motors, 6 to 10 knots. And u go. A sailing yacht can be chartered a few weeks here and there when not used. And it's a nice income also. What you might want to look at Richard is. A 100% solar yacht. There called, silent yachts. 55, 65, 85, feet. 4 cabins. Diesel back up. Richard think about this. Never having to buy fuel. 6knots all day long. Lithem battery BANKS you keep going g all night long..like a large 5 star condo on the water.. if you guys go 50/50, each gets 2 cabins.
Note, they go as fast as 18 knots. But only for a few hours at top speed. But they get you any where along the coast fast. Port jumping,
Richard also note, a 55 foot silent yacht went trans Atlanta. 2500 miles with just solar. Power.

-Sailboat is probably more of an "event" while the azimut is something you can do almost everyday (If jon brings his yacht to cyprus problem solved)
-The azimut wont take you to greece or italy while the sail does it perfectly

For a true monohull sailboat. You might want to take a look at Southernwind. I'm about to place an order for their new SW108 Hybrid. If you want to go larger they also make a SW125. Other builders you might want to take a look at would be Baltic Yachts and Oyster Yachts. SW is all carbon made, with different keel configurations that would allow you to retract it if needed to get closer into port and reduce draft needed.

That sailboat somehow reminds me of John John Florence's Gunboat. This is more luxurious and probably less rugged, I'd say kind of a middle ground between a Gunboat and a Sunreef.
