Without a doubt my life would have been much different had I had supportive parents. I was very musical and into acting and my parents always shot that down and said “ get real”. Now, I’m finally making music in my late 40’s and I’m 100% positive I could have done it for a living had I started earlier. Support your kids, and give them a backbone of reality both

always fascinating to hear Finneas talk about production edit: writing about made-up stuff or fiction, is SUCH good advice. You don't always need to write about yourself and your experiences, super great point
It's interesting that he mentions he usually writes/listens to music first then writes melodies followed by lyrics last. I do pretty much the opposite, I always start with lyrics then read them until I get a melody going and work off of that.
Same. I’ve been working on something lately and I tried flipping it around - it is difficult. I feel restricted, chained: I can’t fit as many syllables as I’d like in each line and the sounds of the words I find most appropriate semantically don’t fit the chords in the progression So far I’ve had to deal with a lot of frustration Tempted to just scrap it and return to my original workflow 😔
To be honest the absolutely gorgeous EQ, microphone choice, placement, and his awesome voice all contribute to this result - but yes, he has a very pleasing super-low tone, the kind you don't put any low cut filter on when recording!
The title is completely misleading. This clip does not provide any insight or direct instructions on “how to become a producer”. It’s simply Finneas describing some personal experiences around discovering how he learned to write music.
@@travislee9662 Exactly why the title is misleading. He doesn’t provide a “how to”. The title should be “Finneas’ story of songwriting and producing”. A “how to” is a step sequence guide to doing something, not an anecdotal account of some events and experiences.

I agree that the title is misleading. Something like “Finneas’ Producer Origin Story” would have been more accurate and lead to less disappointment.
