Paper Cuts is definitely in my top 5 Nirvana tracks. Great song.
It sure is, and you can definitely hear the melvins influence on kurt at that point in his life. Also Dale Crover was the drummer on that song.
Paper Cuts has to be one of my favorites of nirvana's songs. it sounds insane, the energy is nightmarish and impactful, and it's one of the best examples of Kurt's incredible vocals. The noise and feedback as well, is perfect. thats a sound i've been chasing for a long time, and still havent figured it out
Love this song. I always loved the line ‘the lady I feel maternal love for cannot look me in the eyes’. It always struck me as an incredibly cold way to describe your mother.

There's an entire true story behind the lyrics of paper Cuts that you don't even mention. It's about these crazy parents in Aberdeen who locked their children in a room for weeks and had spread newspapers on the floor for them to piss and shit on.

@@madhatter8508Uhm sorta mate. I understand what you're getting at. I read that book A Child Called It; it's unequivocally haunting, and it sticks into the brain & soul, like thorns from a 🌹 bush or barbed wire. At least it did with me mate.
Papercuts was always one of my favorites!! I remember listening to it on my walkman on the school bus in the morning while on the way to middle school.
It's just so dark and fucked up!! Solid gold.

Dale Crover was a great drummer for Nirvana. Wish they had recorded all of Bleach with him.

You totally neglected to mention the stark similarities between this song and the Swans song, “Your Property.” Musically (the pounding drum rhythm and grinding feedback guitars), vocally (the throat-shredding screams), and lyrically (lyrics about total submission and being at the mercy of someone else). Both Nirvana and Melvins were strongly influenced by Swans, and these similarities are undeniable.
I love Jack Endino's facial expressions.
Everytime I listen to Papercuts I feel like I want to scream but in a good way, the song makes me want to release pent up frustrations.

That was a great choice by the melvins to go with Dale as their drummer. He is absolutely one of the goats!!! Yes I said it and ill say it again, "Dale Crover is one of the best drummers of all time."

This song I feel is somewhat overlooked. This song and Polly are easily the darkest songs that Nirvana ever made, and I feel this one is even darker. On account of its at-times screeching feedback-ridden guitar riffs, the harsh vocals and the general dark and sinister feel of the song. And the lyrics are very dark too.
Are you going to do this for every Nirvana song or what?
