That end: "...being more polished turns you into a politician and politician turns eventually into being dishonest". Very VERY well put. This is why Andrew Yang and (to an extent) Tulsi Gabbard were so fresh in the Democratic debates. This is also why Yang is leading NYC mayoral polls right now. People crave for honesty in a dishonest world.

I have a lot of respect for your moderation. Realizing that some temptation isn’t worth the long term consequences is something more young men need to be reminded. Eventually your good judgment will bring a good partner and flourishing family.

@@co0o0ozy88 in this case they were speaking of DMs. In his case he needs good judgment because he is getting slammed with extremely attractive low moral girls. These are the type of women that can completely ruin the life of a successful man. All he needs is a racy DM interaction to go viral and his reputation is damaged.

Google: Integrity implies a consistent behavior, whether honest or not. Honesty implies being truthful (even if it is incorrect) about a subject at hand. Honesty, by definition, is to tell the truth and being true. Integrity is having strong moral principles based on honesty and to follow those principles religiously. Cheers

For me the main problems that follow from lying, in their order of importance, are, inability to trust others, the rage that is fueled by maintaining a lie and denying truth, and worst of all distorting your being

  • @corinnemuir1542

I’ve doing that as well, being the same in public and private. I think your right about being honest. It’s Like Jordan Peterson says, when let’s say, trying to calculate what you want to do. Now you start to think to get an answer, when you go to reference a lie told to your self about your self the incorrect information will generate an answer that otherwise would have been “correct”. Like if I asked myself “ Is SN12 going to explode during its test?” But the lie I told myself was that all Starship tests totally didn’t end in an explosion. See where I’m going here? It’s not being your authentic self all the time that’s problematic, what’s going to test your grit is incorporating your shadow. It’s easy being who you want are, who you want to be, but what about being something that you don’t agree with, being what you call wrong. There places you don’t want to go. To find the treasure that you seek, requires something you can’t keep, A Shield depending on how you speak, shall acquire treasure, or fire knows how to inspire. Stairs filled with the attire of those who aspired to reep what they’ve admired. Thanks true believer

This is what I have always believed, tho it sometimes excludes you from friends or work colleagues! It is being true to yourself and very much worth it in the long run.
What he said about a monogamous marriage is also true. Stability and peace come from it, leading to prosperity. Sow your wild oats young then settle down somewhere quiet.

I guess it's harder to be honest when you have traits others don't accept. I try to follow the same absolute honestly principle, but there are dark traits in my personality that most people don't like, so if I'm truly myself people will reject me so I have to balance the amount of "realness" I let others see. It's like the contrast between a protagonist and a villain in a movie. Lex seems to have all the cool/accepted traits while others are painted as villains instantly even tho there aren't truly dark motives behind their actions.

What are you polishing? A stone? A piece of wood? You do know knives are polished in the process of being made? Whether or not one is shiny is not important, what one makes themselves into (ie the substance over the aesthetics) is the real issue and far more important to identify.

I have a theory that authenticity is one of the qualities that is most often sacrificed as people grow to positions of power, either senior political positions, or corporate roles. In the rare occasions where people manage to maintain their authenticity in positions of power they are the ones who will make serious changes in a field, rather than being concession-making bureaucrats. In the good cases these are the Elon Musks and Bernie Sanders, in the bad cases the Pol Pots and similar.
