Karelin is a legend.
Kerelin's record is 887 wins and 2 losses. Yes you read that right.
And the 2nd lost was ridiculous
Who beats him???
The man’s record was 887-2. One of those losses was his swansong at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the gold medal match which he lost by one point because Rulon Gardner was simply too big to lift and they had literally changed the rules to make Karelin less dominant. Karelin incurred a single point penalty and that was how Gardner won. Prior to that, no one had even scored a single point against him for 6 YEARS.
He won three Olympic gold medals, 9 World Championship gold medals, 12 Europeans Championship gold medals, 1 World Cup gold medal and a bunch of junior gold medals.
It is no exaggeration to say the Karelin is probably the most dominant athlete of all time.
