    I don't know how I missed this video! Great information as always.
    Just had my sixth infusion of ocrevus this week and just being very cautious about being out and about. When I have to be I wear a mask. Love that the cool fall weather has arrived :-)

    Dr Boster your video this morning made me think of another question, if someone with MS contracts the Covid virus are they at a greater risk of triggering a relapse?

    I start Gilenya on June 4th. I am nervous and excited. I am also proud of myself following through. I was on Avonex for 2 years and I suffered severe depression and suicidal thoughts on this medication. I was in the process of changing doctors and my prescription ran out and I just stopped. I honestly felt better then I had in a very long time. So I was very reluctant to start any dmt. A couple years ago I was in the process of starting Gilenya and my blood test showed I had no chicken pox DNA, I know there is a medical term for this, so I had y be vaccinated and it ended up being a 12 week process. I just didn't care about it anymore. I was to depressed to care about anything then. I had been working at a restaurant that closed the end of January. So I took this as an opportunity to start Gilenya and get used to it and no have to worry about how it will effect my job. I just don't have one. I have also talked about it with my husband and he is going to watch out for me and side effects. I have had some severe side effects from a few medications. But I know now what is normal for me so I can hopefully recognize any thing that could be wrong. I have to say that I decided to get back on medication because of you. I watched a video of yours where you talked about how DMTs are not helping us today but years down the road. You used the example of how not being medicated now is like shooting holes in a support wall and how it will work until one day the wall collapse Thank you Dr. B!

    I would love to see an update about all of this now that we have so much more data. Could you do a follow up of COVID-19 lessons learned in regards to Multiple Sclerosis patients?
    I am still terrified of getting it. I am greatly concerned about long haul given that having an EBV reactivation is a now a known risk factor. Hearing some real results from what you've seen in clinic would be wonderful. Thank you!

    Thank u 💕. But Question are we at higher risk to get cytokine storm since our immunsystem already is in overdrive? Take care 💕🙏

    • @erinchate3179
      @erinchate3179 4 года назад +3

      Exactly my question. Cytokine storm is killing people with overactive immune systems . When having a cytokine storm, an immune suppressor is given to try to lower the cytokine storm

    Thanks for the update! Covid has certainly messed up my dmt schedule. I'm going for my tysabri infusion later this week after missing months in a row. between all 3 of us in my family getting sick from late January through early March I was worried we had the virus. Having already pulling myself thro rebound disease 2 years ago(long story). I have zero desire to do that again. So my ? Would be what are you're thoughts on tysabri and immune suppression? I've been told different things and if love to hear ur opinion in these scary days. Minnesota is still unstable and on the rise but since restrictions have lifted slightly it's like no one cares anymore. My Neuro team feels the risk of waiting any longer is too high and the last "black hole" was apparently very close to "an area we don't want to see this since it can affect autonomic functions had it decided to manifest a few cm (here)". Quote from my Neuro while we reviewed the MRI I had after 5 mo w/o infusions. I'm feeling like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Risk covid infection since I have many high risk factors? Or wait longer to infuse and risk rebound disease for a 2nd time? Any insight would be appreciated! Sorry this turned into a novella. My cog function sucks so I hope i made sense. Thanks for all you do!

    Thank you for another informative video. I just had my first video follow up with my neurologist Friday. This was something she talked to me about. Maybe because I’m in Alaska and we have so few cases compared to national numbers I have no fear.

    Hallo Aaron, thank you for explaining this. My husband is a high risk patient . He is over 60, has Diabetes Type 2, is overweight. So we are in self quarantine. I am only leaving the house for doctors appointments, physical therapy and groceries once a week. Wearing face masks, sanityzing my hands and changing clothes and towels regularly seems to help as well.
    But I am still afraid that we might catch the virus somewhere out there.
    Covid-19 has changed our life completely. I cannot visit my mother, I am not allowed to meet my grandchildren. My son couldn't come home fora visit, cause he is living in France and all borders were closed. All social events are forbidden.
    Hope you are safe and healthy! How is your clinic doing? Maybe you can film the clinic now as it's running??
    Have a wonderful Tuesday, my best regards, Britta

    Hello Dr. Boster. I have MS and work in a ltc facility. I have been in a wash out period and my Dr. wants to start me on a new medication. He is worried due to pandemic to start me on medications. What's your thoughts about working hand in hand with patients in LTC facilities or even hospitals while taking immunosuppressents?

  • @erinchate3179
    @erinchate3179 4 года назад +2

    Doesn’t MS abruptly exacerbate the cytokines storm that kills patients with covid19? Doesn’t an overly active immune system kill you with a cytokine storm whereas a normal immune system does not develop the cytokine storm

    You don't mention obesity as a risk factor. I was under the impression that a Covid-19 infection was an altogether riskier affair if one was clinically obese. BMI >30 . Is this correct?

      yes. I plain forgot to include that risk factor. TY for brining it up Dom.

    I’m on Ocrevus. Isn’t it an immune suppressant?

    • @meloneyparker
      @meloneyparker 4 года назад

      He addressed this in videos in March. I recall that T cells fight infection so with Ocrevus depleting B cells, infection can still be fought, but watch videos yourself.

    Outside of hospital to get blood tests they took my temperature many times. It was hot out but the scan thermometer said I had a temp of 100. Told to wait in the shade. Retested and temp had gone up. Yes I’m very heat sensitive with my MS. But I didn’t know it would raise my temp. What gives? Thanks.

    Thank you for your video Dr. Boster. Now my wife recently had an Ocrevus transfusion. Would that put her at a more higher risk for a severe reaction to Covid 19? Would Ocrevus make her immunocompromised?
