I've seen your Instagram posts a lot of times and now I watched this video. Great job! Now I'm wondering if the written off P2 V70 in our backyard has a partial second life ahead of it.
Oh I hope it does! What year is it? Bear in mind the gauges in the tutorial need to be 05+, but it is fairly cheap to buy only the gauges, everything else will work!
@@Flybrick_S60R thank you for the comment. It's a 2001 if I remember correctly. And a TDI, so the gauges should go anyway. But for the beginning just the cockpit would be great, without working gauges.
This sim rig is epic ! especially as you have used a Volvo interior, as a Volvo S60 R Design owner and fan this is the best home sim rig i've seen yet, just subscribed, can't wait to see more videos.
Awesome project! I own several Volvos and I just love them, seeing a simrig with Volvo parts is just.. amazing! ❤ Can't wait for next video as you described and I'm also wondering, do you have video on the dying of the seats? Can't wait for next video! 😃❤
Came from Facebook! I joined the group just for something like this and a few days later I found your post with a link to here! Wanting to build one out in the shed/ man cave so all my mates will be drink driving in no time 😂 tho I might not allow that because I don't want them getting the idea that they could drive intoxicated because they drove my sim 😂 anyways I'll be out in the shed the next few weekends trying to make mine look as good as yours!
interesting spin on the whole car idea, thinking of using more of the car, but good work very nice, clean look , its just letting the side down when the car body on screen detaches from ya dash, all round one the best ive seen good on you for showing people a way to get cheaper real car feel, stimulator
Hoping this helps me with my build a long the way , going from a rig kit from NLR to a homemade two seater like you have set up, much love and ty for the breakdown truly helpful 🍻
I don’t subscribe or comment on very many videos , but this is what I have been wanting to build for awhile , I have the knowledge for the building it part , the electronics part is where I’ll struggle to make everything work, oh and the money for a good enough computer to run one of these on 😂😂 these kids cost too much
I wish that i one day will be able to make something like this.. Building a simrig from a real life car, has been a dream for close to 20 years, back when i was playing GT4 and NFS UG2 in a rig my dad build out of wood. Back then nothing like this was possible with integrating the cluster etc. Thank god for arduinos and microcontrollers :D
100% Arduinos and microcontrollers are king! It's amazing how many possibilities there are! Hope you can start your build soon! I love the concept of saving cars from the crusher and putting them to good use!
Currently working on my setup too, with my personal twist, hopefully I can share it when it’s done, not running fancy R stuff, but it’s good looking so far.
I am going to start recording, it should take a while. I will maybe post a few videos in between if there are questions about part 1. I need to juggle my full time job with family and building, but like part 1, slowly but surely I will make it :)
Hello, I would like to ask you why Moza for the second simulator? Will you show us how to make the wheel with Moza? Your simulator is perfect :) Thank you for sharing
I sincerely hope he can get sponsored and or make enough money to turn this into a business to churn these out lmao. I would love to have one of these at home
I have a full Audi A4 B5 as a donor car at home and I love what you did! I don't know at all if I want to tackle such a project but let me ask you one question: Would you rather have a full cockpit with doors etc. and a full "car" feeling or do you think it's way better to only have the "lower" part and the possibility to disassemble etc.?
If I had the space, I would have the whole car on hydraulics and use a triple projector. You can remove the car interior in some games so it would br seamless z but at this point it will be significantly more complicated. I like the “simplicity” of having the simrig in my home office, I can literally go for a lap in Nordschleife during my lunch break. But if I could I would have one of each 🤣
@@Flybrick_S60R I think if you would have the lower half of the doors it would already add a lot to the immersion. Going full out with hydraulics etc is imho another story 😀 I'm just imagining it and if I every go for it I really want the "in a car feeling" not "in a sim rig" feeling but I'm pretty sure your's is 80% there (rest is roof, doors, enclosed backwall maybe).
😃 working on it, it takes some time because I have to juggle family, full time job and hobbies. But I have all components and I am planning to start recording soon!
Love the tutorial, I'm looking into turning my old mans old car into a racing sim rig, but I want to use the pedals, gear stick and wheel from the car as well. Do you know if that's a possibility?
Absolutely! In my channel I have a video about the steering wheel, as for the others I’ve seen people do it, never tried myself but I know it is possible!
Gotta respect the craftsmanship! Pardon if someone already asked but what server for the mods on asseto do you use? Maps upgrades etc? If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated 🤙
Hey thank you! I use mainly Pure and CSP Preview, for maps I drive a lot in Nordschleife and Shutoko, I get Shuto, cars and server in No Hesi, they have a great server.
hello, great video. I am preparing a similar config on a VW Golf 7 base. For powering the electronics (radio, various light buttons, etc.) What power did you use? Do you think 12v 50a is enough. THANKS
50A should be more than enough. In my case I am using 4 12V 10A bricks. One for the radio, one for the power seat, one for all lights and one for the gauges. The arduinos take 5V so I am using a couple of powered USB hubs for those.
Well well well I've been waiting for this my whole life And please if there is any way you can make a video on how to change a logitech steering wheel to a real one like your using
I wouldn’t recommend with a logitech wheel, unless it is a direct drive, the size and weight of real steering wheels would definitely shorten the wheelbase lifespan.
Hey mate, how would you recommend getting the canbus codes for the gauge cluster? I’m looking to do something similar to this with a cluster from a generation 4 Subaru liberty (Australian legacy) but don’t have access to one of them, so I can’t use a can sniffer
As far as I know the only way is to begin sniffing the canbus using a real car, I know some people have some different methods but I don’t know them. Have you searched if someone already sniffed it?
@@Flybrick_S60R yeah i thought about it and realized that you filmed while doing it and not the whole project split in parts. looking forward to the electronic part, because the rest from this video didn't show me much i didn't know or could already do. making the car display show the in-game map and such is what i really want to know. should i ever make something similar, i would make it for VR, so i could have real world haptics combined with the ingame graphics. no need for 3 monitors or such. the display would be pointless too, but working radio, manual, handbreak, and such, that would be next-level (well hydraulics would be...). i just saw a video yesterday of someone who attached a wonder tree that moved in turns. that added so much immersion it's crazy. and it was just a desk setup with 3 monitors and a wheel. but that moving mirror attachment added tons of realism.
Only the buttons, since my simrig is inside my house (and I live in Florida) I didn’t need it blowing air. In the future I might connect fans just for fun.
@@Flybrick_S60R 😃👍 Last questions -At the start of the video, the screens are 55" 4k?? -The definition used was also 4k?? The realism is impressive... the shooting plays a big role too. Good job!! 👌
I'm gonna have to build a sim using an actual car, every sim I've seen all have the same flaws,, you're not actually in a car. So I think a mustang would be a great sim, replace all the windows with TV's to simulate accurately what you would see when driving a car, I have been trying to watch someone build a car sim but no one seems to have posted a true driving sim
