My brother has lost 30 pounds already on Ozempic in 2 months. He’s been trying hard to lose weight for a long time. Dr.s prescribed him this because they found he was insulin resistant, and when he was dieting hard dr said his body was losing muscle mass not fat. So far it’s working for him and his wife. They’ve had no side effects. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Edit: He’s now lost 80 pounds. Still going strong!
And, now I’m on it too! I’m down 18 pounds in 3 months! Still going!

Perscribed me Rhybelsus because of higher level of insulin in my blood work. I tried everything before not even a single inch i was able to move of off my body. With Rhybelsus it has subsided my apetite and i eat what my body needs and i am 27 lbs down with my insulin level normal on my blood work and also, my body started to revive itself. For over a year i had no menstrual cycle and now it happened. So this woman doesnt know what it feels like. God bless my dr. That he really gave his ears to my problem and made me feel much much better.. i wish everyone who is suffering find a good physician and with great dr. And motivation you all are going to feel better. 🙏

PCOS is real and it really makes it hard to lose weight without drastic measures that aren't sustainable so a boost from a drug that gets your body to start losing at normal rates is a blessing.

I've followed you for years. For once I disagree. I've been borderline diabetic, can't lose weight, hormones screwed up. Eating right and working out didn't help. I would limit calories to 1100 to 1300 daily, walk each day, and the scale wouldn't move. It was hormone replacement and this medication that has brought me to better health. Ultimately, when diet and exercise didn't work anymore, this did. 20 lbs down in 5 months. (Over 4 years before this I gained 80 pounds). I don't want to use it forever but diabetes is genetic and this dropped my blood sugar to normal people levels. Having buried family due to diabetes, this medication just may have saved my life.

Totally agree! I'm currently taking Ozempic, have been on it for a year and 3 months and lost a total of 52 lbs and still counting. This is a success because just simply dieting and exercising alone didn't help me. Some people just have hormonal problems like diabetes and/or PCOS! Not everyone is made the same way, so it's easier said than done! She's just a firm believer of just diet and exercise and of course in an ideal world no one should have to reply on medication, but it's actually helped me and so many countless people it's worked for. So yeah, it sucks when she says that you could basically just make that choice and it's not the whole story!

Did not do a single thing different. Same diet, same amount of exercise. I even exercised less as I was losing weight because of work, but still lost weight. These injectable weight lose drugs work! Stop misguiding people against it! If it helps them lose weight, all power to them regardless if they did it “naturally” or with these drugs.

For me and people like me, this new drug is the only option. Surgery isn't even an option as it would make my syndrome worse. You talk about loosing weight and keeping the weight off as though it's so easy. Yes there are people out there who genuinely don't care what or how much they eat and don't excersise but there is also a massive amount of people who do everything right and can either not loose the weight or out back on the weight they have lost

Not trying to be rude, but I surely don’t think you “get it”, or truly understand the struggle that many of us deal with in trying to lose weight. I lost over 100 pounds when I was 28 ( I’m currently 44) with extreme calorie reduction and intense exercise, including some of your dvds, which were hard for me at tip top shape, much less anything I’d consider moderate. But, I could not maintain that weight loss, and it slowly crept up for the rest of my 30s, and it really just piled on these past two years. I’m right back to where I was at 27, unfortunately. I was also recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and my doctor put me on Levothyroxine, and soon after, Ozempic. It IS A GAME CHANGER! I did not have the determination to do it on my own again, and was struggling because of my thyroid issue as well. Consistency is key, and that’s easier said than done. However, once I started Ozempic 5 weeks ago, I have been able to knock out my Diet Coke habit, and replace it with water, and I do get full after small portions. I made spaghetti last night with ground Turkey, and I was able to eat 1 cup, and felt stuffed. I’ve made slow changes, and I’ve lost 14 pounds in those 5 weeks. I’m not working out yet, but I have a pretty large vegetable garden, and yard that keeps me pretty busy. Ozempic allows me to eat “normal” sized portions without feeling like I’m punishing myself. When I lost that 100 pounds 15 years ago, I went to be pd hungry every night. I was living off of 1200 calories..good calories, but it wasn’t enough. I was depriving myself, and it was miserable. Now, I don’t feel that deprivation. I don’t crave sweets, or Diet Coke, or anything for that matter. I’m content. I eat several times a day, but small items, such as a boiled egg, or fruit, or low fat cottage cheese, and they’re satisfying. I have talked to my doctor about being on it forever, and I don’t mind doing that, if that’s what it takes. I have no side effects from Ozempic either. No nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, or anything. Then again, my doctor started me out pretty low with 4 weeks at the .25 dosage. I just titrated up to .5 last week, and I feel great. It is a game changer. Please understand that many of us have challenges that make it difficult to just eat right, and exercise..it’s just not that simple.

I totally get your point, Jillian, but for someone like me who has been obese for almost 30 years of my life, and I have tried over and over again I already feel hopeless so anything that would actually aide in my weight loss sounds good to me. I wish I only needed to lose 20 lbs. I am in therapy for my issues but I just need the weight gone.

But I am on Ozempic and have lost over 30lbs In 6 months before I made any lifestyle changes. I agree with you that eating right and moving dat ass will make you healthier and happier. But I also know that this medication helped me kickstart weight loss which in turn made me feel better about my self which in turn motivated me to go to the gym. So there may be room for a weight loss med in conjunction with proper diet and exercise. PS, as soon as I reach my goal weight I’m going to fly to LA and take you out to lunch.😄

No Jillian, it is not that easy to just drop a 1/2 pound or a pound a week through diet and exercise. I have spent the better part of the last 2 decades eating healthier than just about anyone I know, counting calories, trying just about every way of eating including vegetarian, vegan, raw, keto, paleo, Atkins and weight watchers along with exercise and I STILL continue to gain weight. I've been to several doctors and no one has been able to tell me why I can't lose weight. Sometimes these drugs are absolutely necessary. You as a fitness/health guru should know this already.

OMG this is me too! Doctors think I’m lying about diet & exercise. That I don’t know how to count calories or use a food scale or read dieting books apparently All my blood work comes up great for thyroid and hormones have been addressed. Phentermine did nothing for weight but made life without much food a bit more bearable. Contrave made me sick, The topomax/Wellbutrin combo made my kidneys hurt. Followed Weight watchers to the T for 3 months and lost one pound. I did Keto, took ketones, and diet pills, while counting macros and calories and eating clean while intermittent fasting for two weeks straight (as an experiment) and didn’t lose a pound! Motivation…self control…self discipline…freaking A! I know how to be hungry and not eat. It’s my whole damned life. I live on chicken, veggies, salads and precisely timed fruit on occasion. If I stop thinking about what I’m eating for a week I gain 7 pounds (no exaggeration). The O.N.L.Y. thing that has worked was HCG. It shocked my body into letting go of a bit of weight and I kept %80 of it off for over 6 months. But it’s not a sustainable way of eating in the long run. We need some fat to stay health. And it’s production was outlawed a few months ago. Now my body is gaining again and I can’t stop it, even with the HCG, had some left over from before it became illegal. Starting semaglutide in a couple of days, so fingers crossed it jolts/satiates some receptor in my body into playing nice.

@@MrEdhmom I feel your frustration. My blood work always comes back normal too. I even requested extra tests that insurance wouldn't cover so I had to pay out of pocket and those tests too come back normal. One doctor told me that in all honesty, the medical field still really doesn't know exactly why some people can't lose weight. There are only 2 things that did work for me, although temporarily, the first was Phentermine. I lost about 25 lbs on that and then it stopped and I gained the weight right back plus some. I tried it again a few years later and didn't lose a pound. The second thing was when I counted calories and was incredibly strict about it. Lost about 20lbs and again, it just stopped. Tried counting calories again sometime later and nothing, not a single pound lost. I've read that strict calorie counting will only work about once or twice and then your body adjusts and remembers and won't allow it again. I'm trying to come to the realization that I'm never going to be as thin as I was in my 20s and this is just how my body wants to be. But good luck to you in the never-ending battle of the bulge!

So often, people turn to those things, for whatever reasons, and end up sick, or at least unsuccessful at either losing the weight, or if they do lose it, they gain it back. I have found the best way to ensure success, is to just form healthier habits, like better diet, and excercise. I accepted that I didn't gain the weight overnight, so I wasn't going to lose it overnight, and that diligence and discipline was going to get me through it. 8 months and 80 pounds lost later, I was SO glad I did!

Has she gone through pregnancy at 26 that shot her thyroid completely and have unexplainable weight gain?. Off course not so some people do have legit issues when they run every day and maintain 1200 calorie diet and see their body not responding to anything. Actually it’s depressing when people pass their judgment and treat you like someone who has no control over their eating habits but in reality they are counting calories. Have compassion for people and do what works best for you.

  • @joedevon
    @joedevon Год назад +1

It is amazing how few people, including experts like Jillian (no offense), are aware of how obesity works. While there are a ton of details, the big picture is relatively simple and we understand the mechanism extremely well. The amount of Fat in your body is what's called a homeostatic system controlled by your brain. That means it behaves just like a thermostat. If you set your thermostat at home to 70, it's like your brain setting your weight at 300 lbs (though it's actually about how much fat you have not bodyweight). If the temp goes below 70 degrees, the heat turns on. Weight below 300 lbs, your brain will fight you to get every pound back. Unfortunately, unlike a thermostat, your brain defends a higher setpoint, but doesn't care that much if you go above setpoint. You cannot trick the brain. It "knows" how much fat you have because fat cells secrete a hormone called Leptin. You can cut the fat cells out. You can do liposuction. You can lose fat slowly. You can lose fat quickly. It doesn't matter. Your brain will know your fat stores are low compared to setpoint and fight you. How does it fight you? By making you super hungry. By reducing your metabolism. And a million other effects. If you've never been fat and you stand next to someone who was once obese, both people can have the identical body fat percentage, identical height, identical weight, etc, but one of them will not even think about food until the body really needs calories to maintain weight, whereas the one who was once obese will be obsessed with food, dream about it at night, wake up starving etc. This is the first drug that addresses the problem at its source by disrupting the effects of Leptin. For once you don't have to be obsessed with food all day. I'm sure you meant well Jillian, but when you simplify the effects of the drug and don't understand how it works, it shows you need to do some research. Just check out RUclips videos on setpoint or leptin and you will learn a lot. Hopefully you will then delete this video or make a response video clarifying.

Before that I was on the right track losing weight and getting healthy habits but the highest weight I had ever been was 290. So in the last two years from 250 I skyrocketed to 335 my biggest ever! Currently I've been grinding away to finally break 300 since around December of last year I could say I've lost 35 pounds with diet and exercise, so I understand what she is saying. But I also understand the frustration of the grind, I get needing the help and wanting the help. I've been following semaglutide for a while now, always contemplating taking it. Especially since I have major health complications because of my weight (you know all the usuals hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnea etc.) so if some drug could help me get there faster it sounds like a good idea, right? Honestly it's a tough one, I'm doing okay without it but I know I will keep hitting plautues every once in a while and my techniques to break them keep shrinking. What I will say is, it's possible without it, its just harder. Whatever you or me end up doing it's to better our lives so hopefully we all get there to the ultimate goal, a healthy and happy life.

When you're diabetic (which is me) it is hard to loose weight. Before I started taking it (I'm on insulin btw), my resting blood sugar would stay above 200. With it and my insulin and a healthy diet I am now starting to be able to manage my blood sugar spikes, which spike off of anything. As my doctor had told me, sometimes you need a little help when your body can't do it on its own. But this, with the assistance of the specialist I see, is planned to be temporary. What this means is that my hunger isn't off the rails but is now normal. I can eat a meal and not be hungry less than an hour later. It isn't about what I'm eating. My blood sugar spikes and stays extremely high making me feel like I need to eat. It has even made me feel sick before This drug is meant to be temporary. I don't think this drug should be looked at as a weight loss drug, but something that assist those with severe insulin resistance issues. Weight loss is just a perk. Also, all medication has the potential to cause some sort of bad side affect. You're hypocritical when you don't know what it is like to be diabetic or have shown that you know nothing about the disease. You are not a physician and should not be making foolish recommendations to individuals.

Definitely not always a one size fits all with losing weight. I have PCOS and insulin resistance which make it extremely difficult to lose weight without starving yourself or adding the risk of developing an eating disorder. It’s not as simple as saying you can easily lose half a pound each week without support from medical intervention. I have tried an array of diets and exercise with no results. I have recently started taking ozempic and I am fortunate enough to be in a country where you are fully monitored by doctors whilst on this drug. Diet and exercise do work for a percentage of people but not everyone for various medical reasons. I understand you are not judging and trying to give the facts but unfortunately for some people it isn’t as clear cut as eat less, exercise more.

How about we don't take advice from someone who can't even pronounce the name of the medication? Scientists have known for years that weight loss is purely about your hormones. We've known that certain foods trigger physiological responses in the body that tell your body to store energy, regardless of if you're in a calorie deficit or not. We tell people to diet and exercise, as if that will fix the hormonal disregulation that broke your metabolism in the 1st place.
The only thing that happens is your body will drop the weight and then decrease your metabolism, so that you run on 1000 calories per day, even though you're eating 1200. See all of the biggest losers 1 year result. You can't control your body's metabolism. Thr same way you can't make your stop breathing. You can't will it to do what you want. You have to create environment that will allow it to I'll it turn function as designed. Restricting calories and increased exercise stresses your body and makes it think you are starving to death. Wrong solution to a hormonal disregulation problem. It'll work for the person who put on a quick 15 or 20 pounds because they ate like crap or got injured. But once the hormonal disregulation is in full effect, your screwed.
We are fighting against the food industry that is literally legally allowed to put addictive substances in our food. These chemicals rewire your brain. We are fighting against the agriculture industry, wheat, corn, and sugar. They keep telling us that moderation is the key. We are told that we can eat addictive substances as long as we moderate our consumption. Sugar is more addictive than cocaine. What's a moderate amount of cocaine we tell people to consume? Make it ake sense. Let the cat out of the bag and tell people that eating this toxic food and excessive carbohydrate consumption is the problem. You can look at videos from people back in the 1950s and we were not this fat. We didn't all magically get lazy. Our food supply changed. We started eating cereal aka desert for breakfast. We started eating fast food. We stopped eating fat and shoved sugar into our bodies at an unprecedented level. And now we lie to people and tell them it's their fault.
This drug is a game changer because it attacks the root cause of weight gain, which is hormonal disregulation. Once your hormones get properly regulated, your body will do the work itself. It will increase your energy expenditure and decrease the food intake. You will still burn the same amount of calories it's just that finally your body is able to access stored energy for fuel. If you have a 100 pounds of excess fat on your body, you are literally sitting around with 350,000 calories of energy that should be available for use. You should quite literally never be hungry.
Someone please explain why fat people get hungry? No answers? I'll wait.
They get hungry because they can't access stored fat because their insulin levels are high and they are insulin resistant. Once you lower insulin levels, they can access stored fat. The appetite naturally decreases, so they automatically eat less. The weight falls off. It's not a matter of will power it's quite literally effortless.
This drug slices through insulin and leptin resistance (the signal that telks your brain you're full) and allows your body to use fat for fuel. So does water fasting, keto, intermittent fasting, and low carbohydrate diets. All things you rail against. The more effective the solution is at addressing the root cause, the more you trll people NOT to do it. Funny how that works.

  • @Jennifer_Lewis_Beach_Living

I used to feel this way, but as I started studying more about the impacts of obesity, I started changing my stance. Yes, burning more calories than you’re consuming causes weight loss, but when someone has been obese for a very long time, it affects your body where it becomes EXTREMELY difficult to lose weight because your body is now programmed to stay fat, and your body will fight you tooth and nail to lose fat. So medical assistance is necessary to help reprogram your body so your metabolism gets back to normal.
Should someone who’s been at a normal weight most of their life and just gained about 30-40 lbs do this? No. However, should someone who’s been obese most of their life consider using this as a TOOL in their overall health and fitness program, which includes eating right, exercise, and behavioral therapy, to help reset their metabolism and lose weight? ABSOLUTELY!

I admire your zeal, but as a type 2 diabetic they are more issues at hand. Simply cutting calories and exercising doesn’t do it for me. Eating any carbohydrates shoots my blood sugar through the roof thus requires insulin and the end result is weight gain. I don’t advocate medications when it’s not necessary, but this one will be for many of us. ✌️

Isnt the stated weight loss figure of 33.7lb the “excess” weight loss figure over the placebo group? I.e the placebo group lost say, 5lb (from diet and exercise) but the semaglutide group lost 38.7lb (from diet, exercise AND semaglutide)? She might be misunderstanding it - she says they’d have lost that anyway because they dieted and exercised but so did the control/placebo group (who didn’t lose 30+lb) so it wasn’t JUST the diet and exercise. These studies always publish the effectiveness of the drug effect, not the absolute effect.
