I still have my Yubikeys from way back in the day that just spits out a string of random characters. Have two of those actually. Very recently I received the $25 "Security Key" and, to be honest, I find myself wishing I had went with the $50 key that supports the OTP app. That'll likely be the next one that I get.
So if I get this right, the 5 series is basically the key to access OTPs in your phone instead of having a password like on Aegis or no restricted access like FreeOTP+. Sounds useful if I understand correctly.
I heard that you should have 2 of these, and keep one safely stored away in case the other one is lost. I lnow very little about these, how do you go about getting both of them setup for use?
No, what it would do is copy the ID at the time of scan which is worthless information, what allows access is the private keys to that ID which can’t be copied
i don’t know why your 5ci case looks 3d printed. it has a smooth matte finish out of the package. also those prices do not include shipping and tax, so i consider that the price point before your actual final price.
That shipping and tax (incl. customs) point is important for anyone not used to importing. Budget for 30% more than marked price; consider it a bonus if you end up paying less.
nope, as far as i know, no desktop/laptop computers have nfc, and it’s not really worth getting a reader either. that’s what the usb connectors are for. pretty much every phone these days has nfc though, and most android phones use usb-c as far as im aware😊
@@breadone_ The last few machines I use for work have it a lot of work machines now have NFC. Probably not as much on residential lines but it is becoming more common on computers in general. Check out the HP Envy's A lot of them have built-in NFC by the touchpad. Definitely a wanted and cool feature
@@AllThingsSecured I got a Pixel 7 and I'm running Graphene OS. I'm no longer the product, no bloatware or spyware, I choose all the permissions for apps., my cell battery now lasts nearly a week without recharging, and the camera is impressive. I'll never go back to Apple.
@@AllThingsSecured Sure, but you could call a locksmith for those. I think if you lose your 2AF key, there's nothing anyone can do to help you regain access to your info? 🤔

Yea, I really enjoy the 5 series despite the price.
Love my Yubikey. If you aren't using it the time will come.

I'm stuck in decision paralysis which one to get 😭
Get the 5 series and buy a conversion to the other ports you need such as usb-c or Lightning

you just go through the same setup process with the 2nd key
Is there any device that has fingerprint scanner and can be used to login on windows?
Have fingerprints usb to pc
The blue security key in the beginning is working on roblox?
I want the one that works
Can a Flipper Zero copy the NFG Signal ? Hope not.
Good question. I’ve never tried.

Won’t be useful info.
What Exactly the difference between security key and the 5 series key !
only the yubikey 5 can be used with the yubico auth app, not the security key
What happens if you lose this key or it gets destroyed?
You remove the key from your accounts and you get a new one
@@Wow4.0That assumes you can still get into your account. Which is why you should always buy two YubiKeys.
@@Wow4.0yeah, but you’d need to have the QR code saved as a screenshot or something to pair the new key with?
I read that u2f is better thn opt
I like stroing private keys inside my yubikey the yubikey 5 has theis feature as well as smart cards PIV
this looks so convenient and secure! definitely more convenienent than TOTP apps
Are they water resistant? I kinda wanna put mine around my neck
Yes they are, at least the 5 series is
IP 68 as far as I know.

Isn't possible to convert normal USB flash to hard-key?
I’m not sure. I wouldn’t suggest it as there are specific secure chips that are used in the production of quality 2FA keys.
Imagine you devices are stolen together with this key device, now what 😅
Should we assume all

Honestly, those seem like such a bad idea... They're too easy to lose. 🤔
You’re right. And while we’re at it, locking your house and car is probably a bad idea since you could easily lose those keys.
