The Forces one was actually really cool. Like, the level was designed around Sonic's moveset, unlike in Forces
it were the worst
Forces actually didn't have bad level design imo but I completely agree the forces mod was really cool

@@thelookingcat The level design was bad because the levels were too linear and only required boosting to beat them, compared to the more active levels of the previous Boost games.

Sonic Heroes, to me, has such a nostalgic theme song. When i was really young i was always playing this, and Shadow of course, ask my parents XD
I can still remember my dad walking into the "game room" (was actually my parents bedroom) and giving me Sonic Heroes. Ripped open the PS2 and pulled out NFSU2 and put Sonic in, the opening...*tears of joy runs down cheak* the best.

Woah that last engine was incredible. That is definitely how I want the next sonic game to be like. Sega seems to actually listen to the fans now, so somebody please show them that engine!

I like to think the Metropolis In Forces is the same Grand Metropolis from Heroes, but it got more advanced over time.

Visually, I think that the Infinity Engine looks the best. Generations had some blurry textures where they looked like the original was stretched out, and Forces had a bit of clashing between the Forces Metropolis objects and Grand Metropolis objects.
Level Design, I'm pretty sure that Forces nailed it the best as far as adapting the stage to the Forces gameplay. However, I did notice that the level seemed to be split in half, with a Goal in the middle of the level that you had to edit around. From what I've heard, the engine in Forces isn't able to handle large levels, but you would think something based off of the GameCube would be low-poly enough to fit everything in, even with re-modeling a lot of content to be more detailed.
Thing is, while the level design was reworked to fit in with Forces, I'm not a fan of just how much of the level is designed around launching Sonic through the air with the Boost while the level stretches out downhill to maximize your air-time. Yeah, it's rather cinematic and looks neat, but it gets tired pretty quickly.
I think that a custom Generations level would be pretty cool if it took cues from the Forces version of the level, as well as maybe a bit of inspiration from Aquarium Park (A lot of the water and glass environments would fit with the Grand Metropolis textures with a bit of tinkering), and maybe something like Empire City since you're hurtling across rooftops. (Rooftop Run has a bit too much of a cultural flair to fit in well here.) Anyways, this would mainly be since you can make a decent length level without having to cut it like how Forces did. The Infinity Engine doesn't seem to work very well with these kinds of things at all, which is strange since you would think that something along the lines of Adventure or Heroes would be a natural fit.
The Infinity engine one though literally has no textures for the energy roads, just a flat color
@@spartanwar1185 If you look really closely, there's a texture to it. A very faint one, but it's there. There's multiple parts to a texture. There's the obvious image that's plastered on like wallpaper, but there's also effects with how light hits it and scatters off, bump-mapping, parallax, etc. It's either missing the "wallpaper" image or is using a very faint one, but it does have the other components. They're very subtle, but if you look close it's there.
Even so, I do admit that I'm more of a fan of the water-looking effect that the Generations one has. It's just that the Generations version still has some stretched and blurry textures that would really benefit from being run through one of the AI-Upscaling programs (I forget the name of it. Not Waifu2x, but the one used for the Final Fantasy 7 HD mod.), and a bit of a metallic effect applied to them.

It’s a good thing that I’m not the only one who knows how to Spin Dash in the Infinity Engine. Also Rail stepping is like Unleashed as in the quickstep buttons.

I didn't really like using the control stick to jump between rails in generations. I prefer the quickstep buttons to. (Btw it's also like that in forces)
It’s strange how Sonic Colours’ control system began to dominate the boost formula, it broke the quickstep, changed the rail step, and mostly messed up the boost system(the Wisps were used in Colours to separate speed and Platforming, using that same system in Forces broke the design of the Colours system)
Anthony Bechara Honestly I don’t mind either system, but I do prefer Unleashed’s version.
@@tonyt1616 unleashed and generations were the best boost formula games (in my opinion), the gameplay wasn't using slow gimmicks. Even classic sonic wasn't as much of a slow down as the wisps

That's Forces mod was really well made. It's the best level I've seen out of the game so far.
Not gonna lie, I love what he did with Sonic Forces stuff, way better than the game itself tbh.

It's like... They made a so great use of Sonics air boost in there... Principally in the end of act 1, something one I found just amazing seeing that part genuinely made me want totry to air boost all the way down towards that Square hole in the wall.
You know, you can air boost but go slower in air if you want lol

OVA and SA2 tails are both so capable without him, building on the retroactive continuity from SA1. Knuckle's change from friendly rival to Good Buddy made sense for his SA2 development but it seems after that he's taken tails' role, so they've made him less capable and more dependent again. Maybe I'm honing too much into One Aspect of forces' larger narrative issues but comparing how tails reacts to sonic being missing to how he reacted to sonic's apparent death in SA2 feels like they did him extremely dirty :c

Once again, Sonic Forces with level design never ceases to amaze me.
Funny how in sonic heroes that stage you have specific characters that do walking animation in game while you slowly nudge your analog a little while others just make the character go into running animation

I'm not going to lie, despite the rather odd yet truthful version of grand metropolis for SADX, that was hella dope version and really makes me yearn for a SADX version of all sonic levels from each game. Retrofitted to match the gameplay style and mechanics of SADX of course.Also can we all appreciate the use of varied tricks?

So as it turns out, sonic's ground movement is actually very good in the forces engine, allowing good speed and control when not moving at fast speeds.
