    I usually just twist the throttle a few times as I go down hill to clear it out and that solves most of the loading up problems. I do the same thing with my Xtrainer (don't know it it's necessary; old habits). I want to go riding! That sounds really fun. Hopefully the weather holds out for more riding without spikes in tires.

    Had a lot of issues with my Lectron on my ‘17. Too lean, too rich, I was adjusting all the time, tried 3 or 4 different metering rods…. Mikuni with JD o-rings was more consistent and noticeably more power.
    On my ‘19 did JD o-rings and jet kit and bikes a fire breather. Ridden 1000’ to 10,000’ w/ only an air screw adjustment. 🤷🏻

    Nice video! If my crew meets up with you and you put up with us while we are riding out there, I am buying you dinner and beers at Horsefly, cuz I love that place and you will have earned it 😀 Have ridden all those trails, Horse is a tuff one for sure!
    Strange that a bowl vent isn't included with the XTNG carb. If it had a vent, this carb sounds like it would be perfect. I have 36mm Lectron on my 300, it has a bowl vent and no loading up issues. Pleased with the Lectron now that it is dialed in, but I covet those external adjustments and the apparent ability to use the stock throttle cable, as the one that comes with the Lectron is rather cheesy. The original spring that came with my Lectron was stupid stiff too, fortunately they offer a softer spring.
    To be honest, now that I know all about the jet block gasket fix, "Jarvis Mod" and of course JD jetting, I would do all the fixes and jetting, and stick with the stock Mikuni on the older carbed bikes. As delivered the stock carb is an absolute mess with that silly needle and leaking jet block gasket. I did all the carb fix and jetting stuff to a friend's '17 300 and it runs great. The jet block fix hadn't really been figured out yet when I sprung for the Lectron back when I bought my 300. That is too bad, could have saved the Lectron money, but whatever at this point. It is on there, it works and I am at the if it ain't broke so don't fix stage, but I will take it off and sell it separately when I sell the bike someday.
    I do think the metering rod copes better with elevation and temp changes better than the stock carb, at least that has been my experience, having ridden in freezing weather to 90 plus and from 4K to 12K elevation with good results, but at this point I don't see any of the aftermarket carbs as being really "necessary". Better to spend the carb money on TBT suspension instead!

    @robertmorehead5771 Год назад +2

    Good time.
    You have Xtng gen 3pro. (Gen 3 nonpro is external ventilated)
    For info
    There are two more circuit options on gen 3. The assist circuit on or off. It's a bottom end thing.
    Stock is off and only gives 1.5 (1-2)turns on air. I found that 1/8 - 1/16 matters! In this mode
    I know you put too many turns on On gives you 2 half turns.
    Once outside of those measurement you adjust rod. Like you did (two clicks) not sure you weren't right direction.
    Float hight does matter and might need adjustment. My gpx tse250 the carb is angled. I don't know if KTM is level. I don't know what adversary that has on fuel pickup. I'm not good with that knowledge set. Thinking you could lower fuel level? Maybe bouncing is releasing fuel?
    At this point I would reset mix screw to middle 1.5 (1-2) or 3 (2-4) (depending on which mode you are in). Drop rod I believe.
    But you said you 2 clicked richened rod? (Up, CCW). Wouldn't that worsen loading? My thinking was you leaned idle. So now reset it and drop rod (lean). So your not picking up as much fuel at velocity (rpm) and loading? Another way you leaned screw to compensate for being too rich on the needle. Now you need to lean rod and richen the idle screw.
    What are your assist turns?
    For now your power jet should be off.
    There is almost too much going on. It is not dumbed down.
    I'm still not sure which mode is better for what.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  Год назад +2

      I think the loading has to do with float level. The reason I richened the rod was because it was pinging (detonating) after a long hard pull in the open when I’d shut it down. Also why I richened up the pilot. It seems just about perfect once I clean it out, just loads up in steep terrain. Talked to XTNG and have some settings I’m going to try.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  Год назад +2

      It’s just a little hotter plug so it will burn off extra fuel and oil and keep from fouling. Normally you fix that with jetting but since we can’t tune on these yet it’s a good choice. And my bike actually came with the 7

  • @torqueline
    @torqueline Год назад +3

    I would bet money that if you put the TBI pipe on the 2019 bike that you would gain a noticeable power increase.. FI does not make more power on its own over a carb. But if the engine's Porting, Pipe, and/or Ignition Curve is different (improved upon) then either or all of these WILL add power.. My opinion is that the pipe is the main player here in the power difference between the 2. You could even just test on your road at your shop since the pipe mounts are probably different? Again.. It has been proven time and time again by MANY shops AND books, that FI offers zero power increase over a carb induction. Let's get some testing on this!!!

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  Год назад +3

      The FI doesn't make more power, but the motor does. Between porting, and ignition and maybe compression (I never did a compression test before or after your head but I think its higher) This motor definitely has more juice. As far as the response and power delivery the TBI kills it because they got the FI right and the E power valve is progressive now.

    • @torqueline
      @torqueline Год назад +2

      @@highlandcycles What I have been told from those that have looked at the engine.. the porting is the same as previous engine.. The ignition curve can definitely be a player as well.. but IMO, the pipe is where most, if not all of, the magic is coming from.. I think the viewers would like to know why it makes more power. If you can fit the TBI pipe on the TPI or Carb bike, that is an easy upgrade IF that is the major difference.. Need somebody to find out.. Know anybody willing?

    • @torqueline
      @torqueline Год назад +2

      Dyno sheets show 9-11 HP increase in the TPI (stock) over TBI Stock.. Less with the carb since the carb makes more power than the TPI.. But that is a big difference
