Really like the Wilkins 975s over the Watts 009s. I have come up to a 1 1/2 “that had the plastic RV assembly broken and water was shooting out of that little air hole. It was covered by an insulating bag and a fake rock on top of that so the home owner never knew until the annual test. But I still prefer them over 009s. Great true life in the trenches videos you do.
The remote rpz's in the yard are the worst just for that reason, no one notices if there is a problem. Thank you and agreed I replace pretty much all 009 that fail. They are also expensive to rebuild.
Hi Dave, thanks for the helpful video. I have an issue with the relief valve. There was a significant leak from the vent hole and after checking the check valves, I decided to put the relief valve apart and cleaned some debris & adjust the rubber gasket secured by the screw. The leak stopped for a while, but it is currently dripping a little. Do you know what could cause it? Thanks again.
sometimes the o-ring on the check seat will get hard and not seal anymore. there is also another check seat on the relief that also has an o-ring on it that can cause it to drip too. Hope this helps.
What does it mean if you open the input ball valve and instead of the water coming out of the sensing hole, like yours does, it comes out the larger hole in the relief valve?
@@dave_adamson That's exactly what is was. I blew out the debris with an air compressor. 80 PSI wasn't high enough, soi I jacked it up to 120 PSI, which worked. I was surprised at how much compacted dirt had collected in the sensing hole. I have a Wilkin 975XL with a wye strainer, so how did this happen? Also, how often should I clean out the wye strainer? Thanks!
I don't find these are that terrible. I feel other models are a lot harder to work on. Watts 009 being one. Have to remove the relief to get to the checks
Thank you for the video it was perfect for my problem easy to understand and solved my leak saving me from calling a plumber!
Dude. I don’t comment on YT videos but THANK YOU for mentioning the spring size differences
Thanks for the video, had some debris on the small o-ring and that did the trick

Typically means the sensing line is clogged or the number 1 check is stuck open

@@idealynx wye strainer only catches so much and not the really small stuff. We drain them every year
@@dave_adamson Do you need a rebuild kit or it reusable?
@@idealynx depends. The rubber can be flipped once but doesn't hurt to buy a rebuild kit
Where do I get a tool to remove the seats?
Nevermind, I missed your link for the tool.
