I am providing closed captions for a Shabbat service tonight and they are using your arrangement.
    This is stunningly beautiful.

Beautiful! I love the Pink Martini version, and came here looking for "the original." Thanks for putting this out in the universe.

This is so beautiful and so meaningful. Once, a non-Jewish acquaintance heard this and read the translation and wanted a copy of the words. It moves the soul.

This may be a beautiful song, but the moment I see Ivrit in transliteration, I literally cringe! Why do Israelis assume all Americans are illiterate in Hebrew? Hebrew literacy is totally essential. That's why my American father, trapped as we were in the Bible Belt, on his own taught me kriah, ktivah, and translation in first grade. Please, no transliteration for the illiterate! 22 letters they can learn.

Snob! Not everyone was lucky enough to have the parents you did.

Perhaps the most kind solution is to recognize that Hebrew, a transliteration, and a translation to English brings the beautiful meaning of the song to more people. Not everyone who listens will be Jewish or have a solid background in liturgical Hebrew, but the text will speak to almost everyone who hears it. לשנה טובה תכתבי ותחתמי

I appreciated the transliteration as I've been learning Hebrew. It helped me work on some of my pronunciation.
