I'm considering buying this gen slk. likely something with 200,000kms or 120,000 miles. anything I should be aware of? is it really high maintenance with that kind of mileage?
There’s a sizable list of maintenance that could or should be done if it wasn’t when it comes to vehicles at that mileage in general. Without maintenance history and details, it’s sort of hard to say. Every car is different and how the previous owner took care of it will vary on what you will and won’t need to do. Overall the 2.3L s/c engine is pretty solid as long as it’s been well maintained.
The brake light problem is probably not relay related. It is the infamous brake light connector gets too hot and burn out the connector contact. Its an easy fix, search how others have fix for brake light. In the US, MB has a recall to have the light cluster replaced. Check with MB service which maybe difference now as they all becomes independent service centre due to MB now just a manufacturer and distributor. I think it is a bad move for MB and customers confident will be affected.
Thank you for the insight. Will definitely look into it. It’s been like this for a long time but the cars been sitting for years so it’s not an immediate rush but now I want to start looking into making it a weekend car this needs to get done
I’m a 20 year old that just got me a 98 slk 230 with 130k miles on it in Maui. Transmission is slipping after 20 mph was wondering if that was limp mode? Got any ideas honestly don’t have enough to get it serviced. So let me know. Maybe a diagnostic tester? Not sure where I need to start. Mahalo.
I would definitely get a diagnostic tester and start from there. If you know anyone on the island with the star diagnostic system that would help pinpoint the issues / codes
@@hawaiianhippie4688 any of the ones you see on amazon would work for basic codes, but to really dig in through codes on mercedes having a star computer would be best bet. imho i think the basic code reader should be able to point you in the right direction.
Aloha, is your car black by any chance? There was a black one I had my eye on in Upcountry and I'm wondering if it's the same one. Also, you can take it to AutoZone in Kahului. They should be able to pull codes for you there.
That's a sweet looking SLK!!! 30,000 miles?! lucky you!!! I own a 2003 SLK 230 pretty much stock. I just put AMG 18" wheels. Looks good but i like the stance of your SLK. Would you mind sharing what you did. Did you do springs only or springs and shocks? I tried to search your videos for comments but I didn't see any. Would appreciate it very much if you can share that info. Thanks!! Just subscribed! Great video!
Louie. Thank you! It’s on lorinser springs and bilstein shocks. I do have a brand new set of brand new bc suspension lowering springs on the garage o can sell. If you go to the playlist to the series of videos for the slk, in a earlier video I go over everything done to the slk. Thanks for subscribing and lmk if you have any other questions 👍🏻
Hi hence. Unfortunately I think the kit is discontinued . The kit is a reiger, but I may have access to a kit that’s clean and just as nice as well. Waiting on information and production availability
Any chance you got a link to the spoiler?
what’s the rear spoiler called?
It’s made by Rieger tuning

Would really love to know have you ever had the problem were it cranks runs then immediately turns off cause my slk 320 has recently been doing that
Hi Daniel . I have not had that issue. Have you used a scan tool to check error / fault codes?
How do I get the rear spoiler?
Hi. I don’t believe it’s in production anymore . Where are you located ?
The headliner could be worse, how's the roof working?? Top Hydraulics are a good answer to "that" problem...
Hi it’s gotten worse since the car has been sitting 😅. Was going to do the top hydraulic route when I have time / can get to it.
hey what are your wheel measurements?
Hi they’re 18x8.5 +32 9.5 +40. If you’re looking for a set, feel free to hit us up 👍
@@M2Motoring Hey bro you still got the same wheels? Looking for a set
