I dont think it will ever be in the Olympics. Even Squash which is quite popular almost everywhere, still hasn't been in the Olympics. It will be an impossible uphill battle for Sepak Takraw to be included in the Olympics.

Sepak takraw player here from the philippines. I say thais and malays are great at this. I used to play a lot of basketball and volleyball but when i saw this wonderful game, i fell in love with it. Sadly, this game is not that popular in our country although our national team can compete with the best. Love this game. A like from tekongs would be appreciated!
Spepak Takraw is included in elementary and highschool sports competitions in the Philippines. You don't have that in your school? It's literally the Philippines national sports for a long time before it was replaced with Arnis.
I guess this generation don't play sipa anymore. That small metal with some plastic or paper as its tail. That's like the precursor for the sipa takraw sports.

man i remembered this decades ago during PE, we play this so often but i suck ass. all I can do is just be the support that bounces the ball, but sucks so bad at serving or scoring. they even do tournaments between classes and eventually between schools before reaching regional tournament. and honestly i just discovered that it's gone global, well starts to go global. crazy sport... you need to be athletic as fuk to do all the moves

man i remembered this decades ago during PE, we play this so often but i suck ass. all I can do is just be the support that bounces the ball, but sucks so bad at serving or scoring. they even do tournaments between classes and eventually between schools before reaching regional tournament. and honestly i just discovered that it's gone global, well starts to go global. crazy sport... you need to be athletic as fuk to do all the moves

The techniques came from muay thai actually and probably more silat. In thailand they have a differet sport for takraw which is through a hoop instead of over a net.
