I think it had to be at least one factor going into his decision. Imagine trying to run a program up to his standard of consistency and discipline when every player can essentially leave whenever they want with zero repercussions for themselves or the school they leave for, basically holding your program hostage. It’s chaos. I wouldn’t want to deal with it.
It started week 2 when the team made the decision of who QB 1 would be or they wouldn’t give the effort, Milroe was the best choice but the players can’t decide that or the team is lost
@@johnotto4931that’s a good point. I kind of heard that alluded to on several occasions (podcasts, news, etc). I couldn’t believe it…..on a Nick Saban team…..when the patients are essentially running the asylum, it’s out of control. I can’t believe he even let that idea be floated without telling the entire team that it isn’t a democracy, it’s a dictatorship.
I just cannot say how much better this show is without Ryan Brown interrupting every 12 seconds just so he can be heard. LT and Dunaway are on another level and carry the show. Very good segment here.
I have been in charge of people for 30 years and it has indeed changed. You can't manage people anymore without backlash. I am fighting the decision to retire now myself simply because you now have to tell everybody what's in it for them. If you correct someone you are the one that ends up being talked to. Commitment and respect for authority is gone. I find myself now trying to make people happy instead of running an operation with expectations and employees that adhere to the expectations. I've never seen this country like this,
It will ruin the game and it already has. What I’ve..WE! Meaning us take the rains and put I foot down and boycott football. Remember…the people have the power. Don’t forget. We the people can cripple college football as we know it. Be careful. You’ll get what you asked for
The portal and the NIL are good things. The lack of regulation is not. They deserve payment for playing. They also deserve the ability to move to another situation if they feel it betters their life. The complete lack of regulation though, has caused the Wild West. Terrible now, but could’ve been great progress.
Stop being negative and come up With a solution NIL and Portal is perfect. Nick was tired. This is a young man game. Come on folks. I’m 55, run a business and I’m slowing down. I can’t work 80 hours a week anymore. I barely can do 50 hours a week
@@lukephillips770 I think there are two easy solutions for both. Portal would simply be a cap of one transfer in your career (where you maintain eligibility, obviously any student can transfer as much as they want) with the exception of coaching staff turnover still being implemented. If your HC, or position coach leaves for example, the transfer doesn’t count towards your cap of one. As for NIL, get rid of all the loopholes that allow for schools to indirectly pay the players millions with collectives. The only payment a player receives from the institution is a flat rate across every school. The amount depending solely on seniority or a starting position. All backups make the same (depending on seniority). All freshman make the same (unless starting). A starting senior would also make more than a starting freshman. Etc. I think this further incentivizes staying at your school, as you could add some rule where the amount resets if you transfer. It’s like a loyalty payment. The athletes can still earn their money from outside opportunities though like EA, advertising, jersey sales, etc.
@@wack8589 I think he’s stating that to say “provide a solution” rather than just talking about it. Otherwise, it’s perfect if you can’t consider solutions to the problem.
I just want to make one point. If this is not an open QB competition going forward, then this team is doomed. In this new offense, you need to be able to throw (efficiently) short, intermediate, and long. Which means you have to be a very good passer and “see” the field well. We did not have that this year. We HAD to play Milroe bcuz the protection was so shaky and he prob was the best option. I just wish that Ty Simpson’s opportunity to supplant Milroe as the starter wasn’t during a monsoon in south Florida. No one that has played QB for Alabama in the last decade would have fared well that day. No one.
I'm sorry to tell you but Sumpson isn't better than Milroe. Hell the guy who just got there Washington is probably the best... Milroe 2nd and Lonergan 3rd. I bet the kid who transferred to Ohio State wants to comeback knowing the offense Bama is running

"up to his standard." He fostered thugville and that's what he got.

Gonna miss college football the way it was originally… sweat…honor…teamwork… genuine love of the game and friendships made, win or lose🏈🏈🏈
At least we wont see the same teams dominating constantly

We love you goat ! Let's get on with it ,now it's deboars time ROLL DAMN TIDE!!!
Bama is done fools😂😂😂😂 thus is a new age
It's a crying shame players that were so inconsistent was more worried about right now money than long term money. How dumb.
One thing saban has always refused to do is pay players to play. When several players demanded money to stay. He said he was done!!

HERE'S A SOLUTION!
Don't pay CHILDREN BIG MONEY coming out of HIGH SCHOOL that haven't even EARNED IT! Who gets paid before they DO THE JOB?
Of course it played a huge part.
THE PORTAL and NIL have RUINED COLLEGE FOOTBALL!
It will NEVER EVER be THE SAME or AS GOOD!

NIL and the PORTAL is not perfect. But, Saban being tired, yes

Byrne Said He Didn't Have An Agent!
The irony of Nick Saban bemoaning a player throwing his helmet. How many times did we see Saban throw his headset and pitch a fit on the sideline.
During a game not after a lose dummy
Throwing their helmets because they’re tired of Nick throwing the damn games

Nick was not 100% on retiring. I can see him coaching again
If DeBoer doesn’t work out at Alabama, Saban could come out of retirement and step back on the sideline at Bama….. Not likely but its possible.
He will never win a championship if he doesn't get significantly better at recruiting.
He’s already won a championship
And he’s always getting talent from the portal and recruiting well. Next
DeBoer??? He is doing just fine recruiting.
