I love this build and channel so much. I like to think of myself as creative however you always are a step ahead. Creatively speaking. I can’t wait to watch more unique builds.
I just thought of this/figured this out yesterday. Another thing besides just having your spellbook being your sketch book, the Artificer Initiate feat let's you gain proficiency in a tool and then use that tool to cast intelligence based spells as it's focus. So you don't just need to flavor that you cast magic through painting, you can just flat out use painting supplies. Though it probably isn't that great mechanically since you just use your spellbook as a sketch book. But hey another option to make different characters unique.
Artificer's Initiate is absolutely perfect for this. Although this works for Spells with M-Components without a monetary value, I'm sure the DM would allow this for all Spells with or without M-Component like an Artificer. The Sketchbook can alter Spells' Damage type with ink and that's just awesome.
@@xiongray Yes but I realized a couple things about this that may or may not be important at various tables. Order of Scribes basically requires you to use your spellbook for everything and not any other spellcasting focus, otherwise you can't do stuff like change the damage type. Although if you wanted to play a Painter Wizard that isn't Scribes this feat works perfectly.
@@goldlink567 Scribe Wizards are pretty flexible, requiring you to merely holding the book to change types. On your person for other Subclass features. A spellcasting focus as well.
@@xiongray Oh you're right, I thought you had to use it as the spellcasting focus, you just need to hold it. Which some tables might argue means you need it in your hand, others are fine with it somewhere on your person, either way cool.
I’m planning a magic painter class. Different colors represent different magic, emotions, and elements. Your art is only magical if you have any imagination of what you perceive your art to be. You can paint a door on a wall, paint a fist punching, a swarm of locusts, anything you imagine. Obviously I got to balance this imagination feature. I also might add the ability to make paint elemental fusions as seen in Strixhaven.
I really love this idea. My daughter loves to paint and I want to build a character for her based on Thai same concept, but idk if I want it to be a Wizard? Is their other videos or sights I can get concepts of other classes with Thai painter idea?
Class: Artificer. Pick up Painter's Supplies. Tools are your Spellcasting Focus. Say you cast Healing Word, you write Healing Words with Painter's Ink and it wraps itself on the target, vibrating soft words of healing. Subclass: Flexible. Alchemist is thematically closer when being Tool reliant class. The Experimental Elixirs produced could be reflavored or reimagined as a special consumable "ink" that grants minor inky boosts. Race: Flexible. Loxodon for Suda the Elephant. Background: Flexible. Grab more tools if you like. Tldr; Heavy Emphasis on Painter's Supplies through an Artificer.
Getting some stuff from bard would be cool!. I think Creation bard fits with what I was going for with this idea but I encourage folks to take this idea and change it to however they see fit!
@@xiongray Agreed! Warlock has always been a very flexible class, and as a result, very good for multiclassing. Now, it's arguably even more so! I wish WotC would give this flexibility to more casting classes, but it does make a lot of gameplay sense for Warlock.
My idea of a Painter Bard is one who possesses the ability to infuse their magic into their brush, chalk or crayons. Anything they paint on the canvass becomes a real thing, even if they're painting a door or a window out of their room
This is actually a really cool character idea. It reminds me of Magnificus from Inscrypcion
Currently playing a painter bard with college of creation and having a blast painting googly eyes on everything and having it fight for me lmao
Everything. Everywhere. All at once.
I love the flavor of this build SO much!!!!

Thank you so much!
Love this idea. So fresh an idea 💡 excellent job
This is sooo cool! I've been looking for a way to make an artist/painter style character. Thank you so much. I think it's very interesting.

Artificer? How cool would it be to have an Artificer Subclass for each tool?
Love this build

It would a good idea multiclass with glamour bard to be more versatile and gain conceptual depth.

I wonder if OneD&D* will have caster classes that can use Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma. That would help intertwine flavor and mechanics more.
There is. Warlock.
@@xiongray This post was made before they gave warlock that option.
@@theawkwardpotato1973 And it's incredible! It's extremely flexible now.
