Is it possible to just image the LCD models SSD on to a new one (or of course the one from the OLED), put it in the new OLED model and start it? So you don't have to tidiously move everything over and/or reinstall everything!?
Can you upgrade the LCD screen of the first version to an OLED screen? (Taking into account changing the structure to fit a 7.4-inch screen) And what parts of the new version (such as the battery, screen, board, etc.) can we use for the old version?
It looks like you don't have power plugged into the deck for the wake up bluetooth test. Can you try with it plugged in? The scenario I imagine it's intended for is when plugged into a TV, I'd imagine it may not keep power to the bluetooth chip when not plugged in?
Can you try the wake on bluetooth with a BT mouse or keyboard. I wonder if those work? Maybe there is something else needed for controller vs kb/mouse?
For moving things over, a reddit user confirmed that indeed you can just swap the LCD deck ssd onto the OLed without major problem. But due to the new wifi chip and screen, the current most up to date OS in the beta channel is still missing drivers for those two components. You can't use wifi and adjust brightness before updating to an even newer version of the steam OS(auto download once the lcd ssd is in the oled). But a type-c to ethernet adapter could solve that.
Does that mean if your LCD Steam Deck is updated to the most recent OS (as in both are on the exact same 3.5 OS) you could swap the SSDs with no issue, or would it still be a problem? It wouldn't surprise me if the 3.5 OS rolled out at the same time as the OLED Steam Deck so that people can swap their SSDs.
Can I take the SSD out of the LCD deck and put it into the OLED deck. I have a 2 TB SSD that I took out of my old deck and put its original back in and sold it. My 2 TB SSD is just sitting there and I'm hoping I can just put it into the oled deck no issues. Thanks
according to taki udons community post this works 100% fine. all you gotta do is insert it like normal and then after it boots do a system update to get access to certain software features like 90hz compatability
Question that i’m sure no one but valve knows …. How available are these? If you jump on steam (on the 16th) how successful will most be at getting one and will the ship in a reasonable time
I have a software question. Have valve finally fixed that bug that started in the August update? I can't play the majority of my games without the steam button in the ... functioning properly.
I have a very important question that I hope you'll be able to see: Can the OLED model decode H.265 or/and AV1 at 90 Hz at native resolution for local game streaming (desktop -> deck)? This literally is a make or break deal for me, thanks so much for checking before I make my purchase decision :)
For steam remote play, hardware decoding makes it worse with bad frames, but moonlight with NVidia streaming works fine on the LCD steam deck, tested myself with cyberpunk

Thanks
I've shot off an email to Valve on this for their thoughts, will answer in future video if they provide info on what to expect by doing that.
according to taki udons community post this works 100% fine. all you gotta do is insert it like normal and then after it boots do a system update to get access to certain software features like 90hz compatability
@@dorf7219 oh that's freaking awesome
Question that i’m sure no one but valve knows …. How available are these? If you jump on steam (on the 16th) how successful will most be at getting one and will the ship in a reasonable time
Dose the oled still have the problem we’re over time the shell will make clicking noise develop overtime wean pressing it
I’m curious about if input lag is any different?
the og had a bit in street fighter 6 and it made it jarring going between my normal pc and the deck
I have one question, and I don't know if its a dum one. could it be possible to put the oled screen from Ifixit on the orignal steam deck?
Afraid not, the internals have changed too much to just pop the OLED in.
Does the Deck with the Deckmate attached fit in the new inner/slim carrying case?
Noted. Will try with the dbrand and jsaux covers on too.
do switch pro controllers keep a better connection now when multiple controllers are connected to the device.
What Steam OS version did the OLED ship with?
Would it be possible to just take the SSD out of the LCD and put it in the OLED and have everything be the same?
There was an issue where certain Bluetooth headphones wouldn’t work well because of the Wi-Fi chip can you see if that has been fixed
I have a software question. Have valve finally fixed that bug that started in the August update? I can't play the majority of my games without the steam button in the ... functioning properly.
The first experiment for your OG Steam Deck should be to try and change your screen to OLED (either from the official part or the third party one)
Valve said, strait out of the box, this is impossible.
@@PietroPizzi You are right, but this has never stopped people from trying to experiment with it and making it work somehow
If I take my 2tb ssd out of my old steam deck and put it into the new oled. Will it just boot with my setup from the 2tb ssd.
Does cryoutilities work the same on the oled deck?
Bluetooth audio crackling still an issue after updated hardware?
Do you know the read/write speeds of the 1tb ssd?
Can we still pop it open to upgrade the storage with a 2230 NVME?
Is the screen is oriented vertically or horizontally?
Why even use covers on the new one? They are great as is.
I am selling my old deck and buying this new one. Ever since I got my steam deck, it has been more important to me than my liver.
I don't know if it supports 90Hz with the OLED vs 60Hz of the LCD model, though.
