    Yes: I am aware I said "Router" a lot when I mean Access Point.

    I have the chance to get few 6545A-UAP for cheap.
    i have no prior knowledge to any unifi software, i just heard, that this specific AP is EOL and not supported.
    can i still use & configure them for private use?

      I think it still "adopts" ok into the latest controller software. But if it doesn't. Delete the controller folder, download an older version from the date just before it went EOL and then adopt it into that controller version.

      They were my first whole-home / central control AP setup. Great devices, paved the way for the AP-Pro and then the AC-Pro. My next step is likely to be to TP-Link Omada though; lower cost, higher spec, non-forum based tech support and probably less buggy firmware.

    I have this access point, but I'm assuming a factory reset won't work now. Everything I can find about this model (Unifi AP) says I won't be able to upgrade.

      Factory reset will work.. and I think you can still adopt it into a controller and it still just complains it is end of life. Some settings may be unavailable. If you can find the most up to date firmware file then you can also use SSH or the controller to point the AP directly at the url for the firmware file. (It won't stop the controller from saying it is an end of life bit of hardware).

    I have a 1st gen uap lr. Will it still work with the controller app?

    • @freename
      @freename  6 месяцев назад

      The chances are high that it will still adopt and work.. However you should be able to download the older controllers too, just make sure that nobody on the internet can access them as they will be a security risk!

    Hi there! One question before I factory reset my old ass Ubiquiti AP.. does the computer in where I'm laucnhing the UniFi Network App need to be connected to the router through cable? I'm far away from the main router as I'm on a Wi-Fi connection powered up by the AP. Thanks!

      Hummmm.. If your DHCP server is on the "other side" of the network then things will break if you reset the AP wireless bridging you to it. If the DHCP server will be on "your side" of the break then I would expect you to be able to re-adopt the access point ok. However sounds like you have a complicated setup so please don't blame me if things break and are difficult to recover. Where possible keep all your network servers and router etc. in one place.

      @@freename no problem. I just needed to reset one and it was just perfect to know everything. And that extra tip what happens if you hold the button for too long just made it complete. Cheers!
