No, you're not alone. I've been a Chili Peppers fan since the late 80's, i just have'nt kept up with them as much as i should have. I just discovered this song a few days ago and i'm completely blown away by the pure beauty of it like i was by so many of they're other songs. It's instantly one of my favorite songs of theirs.

This album came out during my senior year of high school. So for many of us who grew up with the Chili Peppers (that's a lot of folks considering how many decades have been relevant for) it was such an ideal celebration for the end of adolescence.

Alexander Vang i started listening to the chilis back in the 80s to their self titled album.. And what hits and so forth and whether it was hilell slovak or john frucante.. Or even dave navaro and the latest guitarist now the combination of flea and Tony being tight friends all the way and the base from the beginning have held these guys together to create diverse and totally unique songs and grow and develop their music through the decades. I highly recommend reading scar tissue Anthony's biography! He really lays it all out about his history with the band and life style. Explains a lot about how Anthony's relationships with the band members and the crazy shit that he got up to!
The album Blood sugar sex magik is my all time favourite that entire album is in my opinion the pure chili peppers expression of unique and undeniably funked out alt rock!

Then back to good old Johnny the true legend guitarist and with chad the arguably best drummer in the world tight and intune with the funkiest bass player that ever lived flea these guys have created music that will be around played by generation after generation long after they're dead!
They're still making great music today but honestly the combination of flea Tony john and chad had produced the most memorable albums and songs that have cemented them in the history books as a band that was truly a band of legendary power!

Although there have been so many losses and setbacks within the band's trajectory, the connection that these four gentlemen have I have never seen in any other band, and they have always held a kind of celebration of this beautiful and eternal friendship at different times. and this song is another one of them that sums it all up, this video has always brought me a lot of joy, because I know that somehow I was also able to be part of this story a little.
This band will always have my eternal respect and gratitude.
This will forever be a special song and music video to me. I'm 19 right now and I can't wait to watch this video again and again, revisiting it over the years. I hope to be back here when I'm 70. So much love and appreciation for this beautiful music.

Stadium Arcadium is by far their best record. Like you said, it's a masterpiece. I kinda get why people say BSSM is the best, but there's something so special about SA. I think RHCP's shift into more melodic (less funk) and almost pop sounding music was one of the best musical transitions from ANY band. Usually bands don't do good after changing their style, but RHCP did it seamlessly. (Thanks to John)

This song remains one of the ones that can help calm me down from an Anxiety attack without needing to resort to my anxiety medicine. I miss John, a lot, he gave the group something they'll never get back - but at the same time Josh is an amazing guitarist as well, and he's contributing something new and amazing in his own right.
I love how over the years this group manages to grow, change, and mature. Stadium Arcadium was definitely one of my favorite albums. So beautiful.
Edit: It's also nice to know that over the last 20 years I've picked up Anthony's dancing style without meaning too...

If John Frusciante is depressed after his MONUMENTAL career and legacy of incredible music... There is NO point in being a rock star. I've been listening to 'Stadium Arcadium' again... I am just going to go out and say it. Overall, I think it's their best album to date. It lacks a truly funky Flea bass solo (Such as we hear on Mother's Milk, BSSM, and One Hot Minute), but I think it's such a labour of love, and as fine an aspect to the canon of the Chili's as anything. On the whole I don't think there is overall a weak song on it... Truly, what four men can create in their devotion to music, a dream and a vision... is universe shaking.
I think Stadium Arcadium is a more emotionally driven album. But I agree, I would've love to hear a funky slap bass from Flea

Personally, I think flea shines the most when he's not slapping. The slap patters are all pretty predictable, although amazing, but when he plays finger style, he comes up with some great melodies

Madser all of Stadium is a masterpiece. 28 perfect songs. By this album Anthony became my favorite lyricst. The whole band was so in sync together. John Fruscainte was at his peak. He reminds me of the late Tommy Bolin. A guitarist couldn't get a better praise than that

Sad but in the most exquisitely beautiful way. Anthony's tone is sublime, John and Flea and Chad are as fine as it gets instrumentally and the video with their beautiful eyes is strangely moving. (Tricky Johnny dancing around on a cliff with a demonic glee is pleasingly wry.)
