If anyone likes The Sea and Cake and/or David Bowie, you should look for The Sea and Cake's cover of Talking Heads' Naive Melody (This Must Be The Place). That's a very good cover, they held true to the original while also making it their own. The true test of a good cover is to meet those qualifications. :D
We once missed the first 15 minutes of My Bloody Valentine's first Chicago show in 20 years because The Sea and Cake were playing the same night -- we made the right choice.
Indie. Look up Thrill Jockey Records. The singer has solo records under the name Sam Prekop. The rest of the band members are in tons of other bands such as Tortoise.. The Sea and Cake is a super group of sorts. You'd probably dig Trans Am's first several records starting with Surrender to the Night, though they didnt add vocals till later records..
even in their heyday, i was never a big sea and cake booster... however this is a nice treatment of bowie, even if they chose to ditch one of my favorite parts of the song- how the drums assert themselves more and more...
The visual movement doesn't coordinate well with the music. This seems to be an extremely amateur effort compared with things like Wehinger's Ligeti visualization. In addition, the song is mediocre. David Bowie is way overrated. Sam Prekop is a talented composer and musician, and his own stuff is much better.
Andrew Reynold's 2nd part from This is Skateboarding!!
David Rubenson yup
❤️
Yea buddy
Yessssss!!!
Yes, it's mentioned a bunch of times in the comments. Sad way to discover great music. You should know this band before you even watched that video. 😡

I'd like to agree, but I can't completely. Saw them in Vienna (great), and some years later in Chicago (not great). Still love them though.
totally agree. skate videos introduced me to some of my favourite music :)
What skate videos was this on?

can anyone tell me what genre/sub genre this is or at least something else that sounds like this?
anybody recognize the Navin bros in this song? Damn, pure love against hate. Peace!
thanks for this Rohhault
anyone knows how to get those initial sounds? which plugin or synth?
Probably some kind of modular synth... Look into eurorack modular synths
Shares the same atomic age vibe with Tortoise's video for "Seneca" - makes sense since they share a member, John McEntire.
Underrated
It's so pretty :D

@mumble04 FUCK YAH
stuiii001...why?
I like their stuff from Nassau and Biz much more, when they sounded more like a rockband
Need to expand your definition of what rock is man

Dull beats, flat voices - boring. Bowie isn't easy to cover.
