6:56 The BMC, before it was taken over by British Leyland. This was the assembly line for the FG model which the POST OFFICE, as they were called, not Royal Snail 😂😂😂. My dad was an inspector on these from the late 60s until the place closed in 1981 i think its was.
I enjoyed that - some memories there. I wonder what is going on in the pic at 3:34 It looks like a crowd of folks have turned up to watch a man dig up the road?? Also, at 4:24 that looks like the old Bathgate FC football ground behind the High Church.
the men digging the road was a gas leak in Hopetoun Street. I don't have a date for the picture at 4.24 but could well be the old Football Park which is now housing and has been for many years.
@@scottimaskedmusician Thanks for that. Even for something as potentially enlivening as a gas leak, that does appear an inordinately large crowd. We certainly made our own entertainment back in the day. Mill Park was developed during the 1930s, as the council were demolishing slums up the top end of the town.
