I often wear Ultraboost 1.0 and 20 shoes for casual outings but would never run in them. I got the Ultraboost 5X for casual use that can also be a decent running shoes. It's the shoe I can take on a weekend getaway or short business trips when I only want to take one carry-on bag with me and get in good 3~5 mile runs in the mornings before putting it on again to do whatever else. It feels good, is stable enough, and has enough liveliness for short runs. I much prefer the Adizero SL2 over this as a "real" running shoe, but the Ultraboost name and look fits in better in restaurants and offices. Haha.
I gotta say, the little one is a friggin rockstar for putting up with Matt's gestures and staying mostly quiet.
She is a rockstar but there are several takes where she gave some loud opinions…. -Matt
You shoulda seen her when she heard the foam in the neo vista was Eva and not PEBA
@@DoctorsofRunningthis is just the beginning Matt… just the beginning 😂… wait until she starts running in these shoes 😂
That baby gotten bigger😊
The hair!
@@DoctorsofRunning excited for the next shoe review and also for the baby 🫰🏻
Thank you Matt for review but please disable HDR in video. Bought this the day it become available in adidas website. I liked it. 🎉
Serious question. I’m using the 4K 60fps. Is there a mode I am missing? -Matt
@@DoctorsofRunning I assume you record the video with iPhone which by default uses HDR Video. To turn it off HDR video recording in iPhone 12 and above, go to Settings -> Camera -> Record Video, then turn off HDR Video.
@@ser1ification yes! Thank you!
Hi Matt
Is the Ultraboost 5 suitable for long hours standing and walking,?
Thank you
The Ultraboost 21 has been my favorite casual shoe for years.
with adistar coming out maybe a full comparison of this vs the Prima, vs Adistar 3, vs the adizero sl2 vs the Rise lol
Definitely a comparison with the Prima!!!
@@karls8989 the adistar is out in the US. HUGE improvement over the previous versions, but for me it’s a pretty warm shoe. The foam feels really good underfoot.
Pretty sure the adidas website states the stack as 39/29.
That sounds more correct than the specs given to us! -Matt
ULTRABOOST 5 - most comfortable sneakers ❤
Run a couple of ultras in Ultraboost PB, midsole didn't bottom out as much as my other shoes hence it become my shoes of choice for long runs. Skip a couple of versions & looking forward for this one.
I'm so sad about these
I was getting Heel slip in a size 10.5, and hadn't in my Lights nor 20s, so I sized down to a 10 and they were too tight
I tried the Ultraboost 5s as well and had the same issue :/
I wish they had a second loop for a runners knot, because I guarantee they would have worked for me, if they did
Still can't get past the fact that for years, the Ultraboost has been seen as a lifestyle shoe. With all the other performance shoes Adidas offers, I'm not sure how this shoe will fit in.
Hey how does this compare to the Triumph 21?
Seems to me like they do things in a very similar way with the midsole material and the geometry and the upper being so similar.
Oh that’s actually a great comparison! Similar in terms of foam but the heel transition is way smoother in the triumph 21.
How would this do compared to something like the Endorphin Shift 3? Maybe way off the mark here, but I haven't run in that shoe and would love to try something similar
I'm gonna guess the 31-21mm measurement is only for the midsole, not counting outsole and insole.
I am looking at buying a shoe for everyday lifestyle usage (lots of walking around). Is this Ultraboost 5X good for this use case?
It definitely can be.
Hi
Could you recommend a light weight running shoes (below 10oz, men size 9) for standing and walking long hours?
Thank you.
.
yes
These or supernova rise?
whats it like for walking as a pronator?
How would it compare to the Hoka Mach 6?
Very different. Mach 6 is lighter and fits far more snug (almost short). Also feels lower to the ground despite the stack height. The ultraboost 5 x feels much higher drop wise and cushioning wise with a clunkier/larger heel. Both have really smooth toe offs!
That helps a lot. Thanks so much. Love your podcast!
How is it compared to NB 1080 v13 in softness?
It's noticeably firmer than the 1080v13 but still comfortable.
if it had 6mm drop it would be perfect
@@pisderata agreed
What is this alley and where is the backyard with trees
😶🌫️
Will announce what this is soon! -Matt
UB laceless are the shoes that got me into running. UBs still has a soft place in my ❤… but with a plethora of lighter, better foamed, cheaper priced running shoes out there, hard pass for now.
