So many people here are talking about "it should be played on a bass guitar". I know, everyone's looking for that one guy on RUclips who can play Royal Blood on a bass guitar like Mike Kerr, like me, and I know there aren't many. But there's no need to bash those who put up guitar versions like this guy here. This could be useful for others who want to play the riffs on a guitar. These other people may be in a band with an extra person who can play the bass guitar to do just bass parts - something that Royal Blood refuses to do. Fair enough. This dude here made it clear that it's a "Guitar Lesson" in the video title, so if it isn't what you're looking for, look away.
Joseph Kaos Jr Well said Joseph. People play guitar songs on piano, and piano songs on guitar. I've put cello songs on guitar here as well, but it seems there are some Royal Blood purists out there that get a bit upset with me playing their songs on guitar..... Never mind. I've just done another one. Thanks for the comment mate.
You can play that on a guitar, but normally it's played on a bass. He uses an pog to put his sound into a guitar octave, then he has a signal divider and leats the higher signal to a guitar-amp and the lower to a bass-amp. I hope that's helpfull!
Quality tutorial. I used to play in a band and then had a family. I mostly play acoustic now and wish i still had my Les Paul and Marshall stack. Keep up the great tutorials.
I don't understand what's up with people who are disatisfied with this. As soon as i heard this album i picked up the guitar and started learning the songs. It's not fucking rocket science! They're easy! Just LISTEN and you'll figure them out. They sound good an bass and guitar as well.
Awesome tutorial, but....wheres the Charvel ??..lol... Only one minor "mis" speak...I know you meant to say 7th fret G string, and 6th fret B string..;)...cheers mate !!!
Simon Smith The reason I asked about the Charvel is 'cause I have the same, exact one..Flat-black and all. Took some getting used to with the black side-dot markers, especially in dim-lit pubs.....lol...Did you get rid of it?...or was this vid made before you acquired it?...in any event...I very much enjoy all of you lessons. There is a song that I cannot find the TAB or any kind of tutorial for anywhere on the web, I cant think of it at the moment though..lol...When I do, I'll drop a line....Cheers
I don't intend to offend but ont the part before the 3 3, 5 5, 2 2, 4 4, where you play PM open on the top two strings, you said 7 on the B string, 8 on the G, but it's actually 6 on B and 7 on G
sorry i'm a noob at playing guitar but i dont understand what strings you are going on but i understand the frets. its the chorus or something that confuses me. could you please explain :) thx
Simon Smith I can assure you that there are no guitars on the track at all. I've been up close to Mike's pedal board at a gig, and he uses the largest board I've ever seen. He also plays through three amps. That's how he makes it sound so huge (and gives the effect of a 6-string and a bass being played at the same time).
***** It is just bass. The set up Mike uses is complicated but he has the bass going through (at least) 2 amps (it is 3 most of the time though), one is the regular bass and the other is going though a higher octave (with other effects such as overdrive etc). It is the same principle that most two pieces use with a guitar (i.e one output has a lower octave). You could probably read up on it easily. But it doesn't mean that you can't play along with a guitar though :)
So what? 2Cellos play "Thunderstruck" on cellos and nobody gives them a hard time. Try living outside the box and broaden your horizons a bit! ruclips.net/video/gNVNsuh5B8g/видео.html
Great video, picked this up in no time, really satisfying to play aswell. I'll even let the bad joke at the start slide.
I’m a beginner and I find this song really easy to learn, thanks
Nice tutorial man, still cant believe he manages to get that monster sound from just a bass guitar when they're playing live.
It's amazing isn't it! (His sound, not my tutorial!)

They are stating a fact it is not a argument and no one is mad so nice try.
You're great man, you're up there in terms teaching people how to play songs and deserve more recognition. Keep at it.
Thanks mate. Much appreciated! :-)

You're amazing. More royal blood tutorial please !
Giovanni T No... YOU'RE Amazing!! :0)
Quality tutorial. I used to play in a band and then had a family. I mostly play acoustic now and wish i still had my Les Paul and Marshall stack. Keep up the great tutorials.
Thanks Randy. Can't beat the sound of the Les Paul and a Marshall Stack!! :)
Comment more on which string you're hitting, please. Makes it harder to learn smoothly.
Very cool, sounds good on guitar. Thanks for the tutorial, I just got my first guitar and am really digging Royal Blood atm.
Cool
Thank you man much love
1st song I'm learning to play all the way through. Great tutorial tho, this is a much easier way to play than some of the ones I'v found :)
+tompfc657 Thanks buddy
Thanks for the tutorial. Cant wait to jam to this song when the album comes out.

Nice to meet you, Simon. Fantastic lesson!
Thank you Jamz007. Nice to meet you as well.
At about 5:26 ish, I think he to the 3rd fret on D and not back to the open D. Thats just what I'm hearing on the album. Thoughts?
You ae a gifted young man.
Thank you Randy! :-)

My thoughts exactly!
Figure It Out. Lol
+David Cole I like the joke haha

It's great isn't it!
That guitar is beautiful
Thanks JellyBOMB!!
Thanks for sharing!
You didn't play the whole ending part... Where do I go learn the rest of the song now??
How do you mute the two strings if your not touching them with your left hand?
Awesome tutorial, but....wheres the Charvel ??..lol...
Only one minor "mis" speak...I know you meant to say 7th fret G string, and 6th fret B string..;)...cheers mate !!!
Dripfade No worries mate

I sold it a while ago. It was a great guitar, I just have too many!!

Nice port from Bass to G!
Sorry mate, I haven't tabbed it. Just the video.

JaVonte Snipes No offence taken my friend. I'm always happy to be corrected...
No problem, keep making videos man
Will do!
Dope Dope Dope
This is sick but it sounds so beast on bass
Cheers Jesse! Science Bitch!! :-)

clrscr Added to my list my friend.
sorry i'm a noob at playing guitar but i dont understand what strings you are going on but i understand the frets. its the chorus or something that confuses me. could you please explain :) thx
Chloe Eloise What time in the video?
Simon Smith around 2:25 :)
Chloe Eloise frets 7 and 8, but its fret 7 on the g string and fret 6 on the b string
TheJacobKing thank you very much! :)
Your welcome ;)
Thankyou
Kurt Rogers No problem
Good lesson, but I'm pretty sure it's recorded in D-standard.
But of course you can play it either way
C-standard......also, there is no guitar in this song, or this freakin band. wtf.
What effects are used
Should be on the description mate
Pedals?
+Nicolas Nuñez Just the amp
Your playing a 6 string - Royal blood use a 4 string Bass - how is that possible???
They must use overdubs as there are definitely guitars on that track.
Simon Smith there are no guitars on the track. he runs everything from the bass. check out the live videos, no guitars, just the bass.
Simon Smith

Из-за этой песни купил электрогитару.
Play that with a Bass.
Nah...
Use a bass mate. The way it's meant to be played
No
It's meant to be on bass.

no shit sherlock
Play it on bass like a man. Too many strings on that weak instument
If you want a proper tutorial on how to play it, you'd watch a bass one, there's no guitar in Royal Blood songs
Thomas Chappell I know there isn't mate. But guitarists want to learn this song as well.
Duh, you must be a genius, @Chappers. No Royal Blood fan knows Mike Kerr plays bass.
So what? 2Cellos play "Thunderstruck" on cellos and nobody gives them a hard time. Try living outside the box and broaden your horizons a bit!
ruclips.net/video/gNVNsuh5B8g/видео.html
There's no guitar in this song, it's all bass and drums
But you can also play it on guitar :)
+TomPFC nah
+limp biscuits no.1 fan :/ but he just has?
+Bats it's much better on bass. It's just gives it the deeper sound just like how mike plays it
limp biscuits no.1 fan :/ That's not because he plays it on a bass, it's because his signal is split in 2 going into a bass amp and a guitar amp.
