First Aid for Road Rash

- Martin and Anthony from St John Ambulance Australia step us through First Aid for Road Rash.
- If you come off your bike and you're suffering road rash, the first priority is to clean the wound
- Ideally use saline solution to remove gravel from the wound, as this is one of the main contributors to infection
- In the event you don't have saline at your disposal whilst out riding, then clean out the gravel with the water or sports drink from your bidon, provided it's clean
- Then apply pressure on the wound. Again you might need to adlib - using something like an arm or leg warrmer, or a jacket might well do the trick
- Then seek professional medical attention

Thank you for making this. I don't ride a bike, but motorcycle. Road rash just the same if not worse, so still apt.
Ok. Not much to that. I carry all sorts of stuff in my first aid pack. I was hoping to see some cleaning and dressing of nasty old toad rash to thighs, hips/bum and knees areas. To a lesser extent hands too. Oh well, I’ll go look elsewhere. Thanks anyway.
