    A big piece of advice is to use hot-block targeting - a lot of stronger craft are designed so that's less of an issue, but not much under 200k for any faction has a big counter to hot-block targeting

    I'm new to the game, around 40 hrs in. Been watching people play this since Robbaz's foray with it several yrs back. I get lost watching my first APS cannon and missile system blow up small crafts, but I still have no idea how sturdy I should make my starter ships, and I'm still trying to get my head around on how to make them go beyond 10 m/s. Hopefully I could create a worthwhile ship (at least in newbie standards) that can circle around a Marauder's side. Thank you for the tips!

      You're welcome! Happy building! :)

      You should make your ship sturdy enough to survive the enemies it's meant to fight. Learning how sturdy this is requires experience and a lot of testing. So keep building and you'll get there.

    Don't underestimate wood for a cheap early craft! It's a great source for cheap hitpoints and can help your craft float. Cheap to repair too.
    You don't want an all-wood craft but adding one layer of metal and four wood is cheaper than two layers of metal and/or alloy. And if you're starting with the default easy DWG campaign, three wood layers alone should stop at least one hit from most targets you encounter early on.

      remember that material wise 2m of metal is equivevelent to 20m of wood wedge

    I like using PT boats (patrol torpedo) and airplanes. They are fast and can just spam and overwhelm an enemy ship

    Another tip i find helpful is keep it small, as that keeps the cost down.
    Might just be my personal obsession with the perfect tetris though

      Yup, small is good for starters. Cheaper, and harder to hit. :D

    Personally, I modified the vanilla jet fighter by giving it 2 medium missiles, and replacing it's basic machine guns with one of the bigger simple weapon configurable APS guns with a small HEAT shell. 4 of them work quite well even into the endgame, with some fire support from nastier stuff.
    For your craft, I think the spinblock response that controls the main propulsion orientation is a bit too strong, when they point 90deg, it ends up being a sitting duck.... Unless that's intentional? suddenly losing speed like that is bound to throw off non homing attacks.

    • @BorderWise12
      @BorderWise12  6 месяцев назад

      That is intentional, yes. Changing speeds suddenly throws off enemy targeting and means the craft can avoid running aground more easily.
      Yes, I have finally gotten completely sick of ships trying to evolve onto land. XD

    My starter craft is a hovercraft for 60k with 8 diff guns. Can one shot stuff for... even 120k cost

    • @BorderWise12
      @BorderWise12  6 месяцев назад

      DIF guns are good for starters, true! Cheap, compact alpha-strike. 👍

      I'm very noob... what's a diff gun?

    • @epicbunny2969

      @@spacedvenusI know this is like 3 months late but a DIF gun stands for direct input fed, they are aps with the no auto loaders and have the ammo feeder on the firing piece, they get 5 shot (if you use 4 sides of the firing piece for ammo feeders) until they take a very long time to reload but they can have 500mm 10m shells. I hope this is helpful even if it’s late

    how did you make the rotating / vectored propellers?

    • @BorderWise12
      @BorderWise12  6 месяцев назад +2

      Spinblocks! You can set them to rotate in response to yaw commands, or any other propulsion command really.

      @@BorderWise12 Huh. But don't those props need steam or something? Or did they get retextured?
