Yeah but they're pretty low quality compared to wit's scenees. Mappa just didn't get enough time to animate something that would match this...
The way WIT combines the CG background and the hand drawn fluid movements every character using the ODM gear is seriously beautiful
Yes! The ODM scenes aren't the same without WIT. I'm appreciate what MAPPA is doing, but I think if it were WIT, SS4 would be much more epic!
@@lazycatbl08 WIT needed more time and I think they lacked manpower. With the scale of season 4..both parts would have taken two years each. But you are not wrong, WIT's Attack on Titan was something to behold.

@@vasudevdehariya1269 Tbh, I kinda had my expectation too high and MAPPA's ss4 part 1 was below par to me. They are of course doing a much better job in part2. So I would rather wait for WIT to do it more properly. AoT would never gain the level of epicness of right now if it was MAPPA who did ss1 to 3.
@@utkarshverma7 Not just the ODM scenes my friend, the battle scenes over all are much more exciting, great to watch compare to MAPPA
While MAPPA has been phenomenal in animating this season, Wit really made you feel like you were flying in these ODM scenes.

Don't forget the titans fights. Also the transformations with the sawano drop and the lighting. Ah and they managed to make a perfect plot twist scene with a lot of great scenes. They did almost a perfect adaptation.

0:58 is quite possibly my favorite ODM sequence of the entire franchise - and it wasn't even a monumental battle or a hype Levi moment. Just a lead up to one of Eren's many transformations in Trost in a relatively tame episode. Bless Yasuyuki Ebara, this had NO business looking *this* good.
Everyone talks up Arifumi Imai but forgets Yasuyuki Ebara did a lot of good work

This is a good testament to how insane the animation is in AoT. Nevermind the great story, just the technical aspect grants rewatchability
Mappa is amazing with their animation but when it comes to animating ODM gear in use, I have to give it to WIT
But for satisfying odm Animation had to give it to mappa
The problem is that mappa is capable of this quality of animation but their time limits are short and it’s really unfair

The ODM Gear is the MOST ICONIC WEAPON in sci-fi history.
It's the weapon that makes a single normal human just like someone of us greater than the Giants or even... the Gods.

Well there’s a lot more stuff that’s more recognised such as the Halo CE magnum and the pulse rifle from aliens but the ODM gear is certainly up there

2:57 I've seen this scene hundreds of times and still get goosebumps when you put Barricades on it, this is awesome!
Studio Mappas animation right now really is still objectively good, maybe even very good sometimes. But Wit was just on a whole other level. Never saw something so passionate and touchingly beautiful in any other anime. They elevated AoT and captured the theme of freedom and excitement in a visual loveletter to animation that actually even made me tear up sometimes and may never be reached again by anyone for a long time to come. ❤
The problem is the times of production, like happened with the 3rd season.
Although MAPPA has stood out too much in making a war field feel as harsh as it should, both in the first chapter of the first part of the final season, and in this one.
@@alan_7390 that's because they couldn't deliver unlike wit did under similar time constraints.
Even before S4 aot has always been a hellish production. WIT had its shortcomings but they always kept the consistency to max and had amazing stand out moments that are still untouched.
Mappa also stabbed their own foot after releasing a pre animated trailer which was great but the animation in actual show could never get to that level.
Mind you they aired the pre animated trailer 2 times, the 2nd was aired before actual ep airing in order to produce false hype.
Sad thing is WIT looking at Pre animated trailer for S4 said that the series is in capable hands.
No one here is blaming the staff but the management and mappa higher ups who took the project and forced it on their animators leading to overwork and half baked product.
The season being stretched for 3 years and advertised as 'The Final Season' doesn't helps either.

I think AoT became so popular bc of ODM gear and all this dynamic moves
Basically aot became popular because of Wit, their creativeness and their animation.
it mostly got popular because of its story line. stuff like animation, characters, soundtracks are just a bonus, i mean isnt it obvious?

Every grappling device in animation is always peak imo, whether it’s 3dmg or web shooters. They never fail to make them look PEAK. this is one of the many reasons I wanna be an animator. It’s so fluid and badass I’m floored

The cut from 0.58 to 1.15 by animator Ebara is my favourite. It's always so underappreciated than that of Arifumi Imai. This animation from 2013 is leagues above it's time.
Not to talk down on MAPPA. I am sure they could do so much of they had more time, but I have to admit I dearly miss WIT's ODM gear animations. They were so phenomenal and unmatched by anything we have seen so far.
True, season 4 part 2 had phenomenal moments which proves MAPPA is capable if they were given enough time, even tho there were ODM scenes which was way much better than part 1, but still didn't exceed WIT level.
Looking back, these animators were truly something different. From the crazy movement to the insane camera movement aswell is mindblowing especially for its time

me too, to be honest, i've already forgot of this music, but it´s very good
The speed, the action, the details, the choreography, the dynamic camera work, this looks like it's from 2030 while 4th season looks like it is from 2010. It's so so so sad things ended like that, with a different studio that had no time to keep this level of quality, even in the episode 22 with that amazing ODM gear scene we can see how difficult it was for Mappa, almost like they put all their effort just for that one episode and it still isn't close to this level that WIT used to make (of course the time they had seems to be the biggest reason), especially Mikasa's scenes that are very fast, kinda stiff and they basically show her already on the back of the Titan's head not the trajectory until there. It makes me really sad, but I'm glad that at least we got 3 seasons with an amazing animation out of this world.

i mean i like wit work more than mappa tbh but damn man mappa has so many projects like jjk s2 chainsaw man etc and they didnt have much time but still they are tryin their best and learning from their mistakes

If you still wanna go with that argument just watch the recent ep which was filled with freelancers who made WIT like edm gear scenes.

If you look at the breakdown of animation it is not much just simple scenes done well but the real magic is the incorporation of 3d bg in such a phenomenal way and well though compostions ❤❤❤❤

Old school ODM and fighting titans - love watching the Scouts fly through the air. Character development has been amazing. Such a great song.
I felt so nostalgic and sad at the same time hearing this theme in episode 81 since it was Ymir and Historia's theme...
I used to hate anime, at least the thought of it, till I was pretty much forced to watch AOT. Ever since then I’ve watched the entire series back to back and I appreciate it a hell of a lot more. There’s no way live action could bring out the same emotion and visual stimulation that this does. Very well done.

@@quintusfabiusmaximus8700 At that point,in 2013, he wasn't a freelancer. He was a talented worker from porduction ig who went to wit for this AoT project. After this season he became a freelancer animator,his name is Arifumi Imai

We all felt that nostalgia after that last episode (81). Man attack on Titan will forever have a special place in my heart even after the end♥️🔥💯
when i listen to this im reminded of how naive we were during the beginning of season 1 and all we knew was this , at the same time i feel bad for Dot Pyxis , we first saw the walls in Shingashina , and we saw them fall in Shingashina , all we can do now is hope the scenes of Genocide that follow the next episdoes have Yuugure No Tori in them.

idk if its just me but s1 has my favorite looking odm gear shots and scenes , the movement just being so erratic made me love it , no other season ever compared to it

To be honest when I look at odm gear I sometimes think could it be useful in modern day if we attached mac-10 suppressed smgs in place of the blades

lots of things go wrong, the rope could get entangle mid-air and that's game over for you, the hook can't always penetrate certain wall materials, as seen in Season one on Strohess district when a cadet fell to the ground because of that, besides, as mentioned already the Gs would be too much to bear, the rope could break too, it has to be insanely strong, how do you recoil so quickly? it'd be easier to just use jetpacks which already exist nowadays.

The new episode brings back memories of season 1. Finally, we've got old wit style odm gear scene.
Imagine how dangerous ODM stunts would be in real life even without the titans. And none of them even wear a helmet. The dude fighting with the girl at the castle even hits his head badly while swinging around.
I wish they did show ODM mistakes and injuries and even characters who just died because of wrong ODM usage

@@ahlatagaci2018 There is one scene where Armin's anchor didn't latched on the wall properly causing him to crash the wall and fall. There is also a scene where Jean's gear malfunctioned during Trost campaign

Attack on titan has one of the best main character plot twists of all time absolutely love Eren as an anti hero
i freaking love ODM gear combat its so awesome and its one of the things that made me fall in love with AoT i would love if it became a real thing for actual combat!

If I hadn't known any better about AOT. watching this vid made me feel so hype because it seems so interesting and characters are so strong .... But in reality most of them die every damn episodes. And woah, what a huge plot twist in the end

Kennys soldiers had probably heard stories of Levi being the best ODM user, but in this moment they finally realized how much stronger he is than anyone.
Aww man, now I'm filled with nostalgia. I need to rewatch S1-S3 of AOT. You've got to have strong core and balance to do maneuvers midair.
But I wonder how the heck are they spinning while the wires are latched on the walls/trees.. Wouldn't that tangle the wires too?
