Thank you for keeping these videos up. Melanie will forever be teaching people. Crochet legends never die. Though her body is gone, her memory will live on.
Melanie, I have lost count how many hats and these gloves I have made from you videos! Thank you so much! You really do a great job teaching on your videos.
2 additional tipps I think help whoever follows this awesome tutorial like I did:
- The stitches didn't tighten up, but you left out the 1st stitch in every row. When you turn your work you have to go into the first stitch, even though it might look like it's the same you came out of just before. This way my second wristwarmer became a perfect square.
- You can see in 6:51 that the stitching opens up a little bit underneath the thumb. If you don't like that just make a few more stitches to strengthen this area when you close the wristwarmer up.
This really is an awesome wristwarmer tutorial nonetheless! Don't get me wrong! :)
I was having a little conundrum deciding what to make for Christmas gifts for all my husband's friends wives.... thank you for sorting that out for me Melanie!
Cute and easy. I like that yarn color.
I have not done this with switching colors so I can't really say. I have done these with variated yarn, solid worsted weight yarn and chunky solid yarn and the variated yarn with some texture is my favorite. Give it a try and see!!
Such a simple way to explain it. This video is over 2 years old, but still extremely effective. I've never tried crocheting gloves for fear they'd be hard to do, but this was easy. Love it. Thank you for sharing =]
mellysauce Thank you so much!
Thanks again for the tutorial....very easy to follow. This is only my third project as I have only recently started learning crochet. Just finished the first glove. I also used the granny square tutorial to do a blanket. I also have three friends who are doctor who nuts and wanted me to make a police box phone case so it gave me the chance to work in multiple colours to follow a grid.
Lol I saw a little kitty paw reach up on film ;) he/she wanted to play with ur yarn :) cute! Love ur simple tutorial :) thank u ! I made some yesterday for me and now making some for my family for Xmas :)
Finally a pattern that is simple & easy to make & doesn't take forever to do. Thank you,
So this was my thought on how to do this! Tried a few other tutorials with no success.
You do a great job of explaining and your camera angles are so helpful!
Im working on a blanket right now but i cant wait to make this next, With it about to be winter time i am getting into my crocheting mood, thanks for the video every easy to under stand
It depends on the weight of yarn, but I think its safe to say a few hours/ or an evening ;) Thanks for watching!
I changed it up and used a puff stitch (starting ch of 20, then 2nd row I used a hdc then on row 3 I started the puff stitch) for these and they are so comfy!! I love these
size I or 5 mm. I always put as many details as I can in the description box! Happy Stitching!
Love this pattern! Simple and quick to make. Already on the second one of the pair! 😁
Thank you. I just started crocheting and you taught me how to half-double crochet and make really nice arm sleeves. I love wearing them when I'm on the computer!
Thanks again.
oh great! So awesome, how great you are making homemade gifts this year! The best kind!
glad it seems simple! Happy Stitching!
I absolutely love this! But I added my own twist.
I did two rows with just taking the back loop.
Then after that, the next row I alternated 7 back loop and 7 whole loop.
It looks really nice!
I love your tutorials! I just finished the crochet hat tutorial of yours and it turned out great, this is my next project and I would love to see a matching boot cuff tutorial next please!! Your videos really help! I was so lost at first lol!
Awe thanks! I started to do a boot cuff and it wasn't turning out cute, haha! So once I move next week, I'm gonna take another crack at it ;)
The brand is Caron yarn and I have seen it at Michaels, Joann Fabrics and I got mine at WalMart. Thanks for stopping by!
Thank You, Melanie for your tutorials. The best! You are so easy to follow. I have made two of the infinity scarfs, the fingerless gloves and your hat. I am a new at crocheting and you have inspired me to keep at it.
So awesome, thanks for sharing! Isn't making stuff the best! Happy Stitching!
Is it worsted weight yarn? It should be enough if you don't make them too long but you will cut it close. I would get 2 to be safe or start with 1 but make sure you can get another skein if you need it! Thanks for watching!
I made some from this pattern but modified it. I turned it so that the lines were vertical vs. horizontal; added a single row of sc at the bottom and a finishing row of 3 sc, 1 sc repeated across the top of the glove. Then I sewed a lace ribbon at the bottom and added a button on top of the lace as an accent.
I did it more on length... so measure how long you want them to be on your hand and do as many rows as it takes to achieve that size, hope that helps!
Thanks for this. The thumb hole is genius. I've been trying to figure out and this was so much easier than trying to crochet a thumb hole. I'm going to use this as a base for my scale maille!!
Thanks!
Love this pattern, crocheting in the back loop is really easy for me because I did that when I first learned how to crochet
I love this, particularly the easy tip for getting the rib effect! Thanks!
I used a size I or 5 mm. Thanks for watching!
Hi from Greece.Thank you so much ,I am trying to make crochet projects for only a month but you help me a lot with your video. Just finish them for my daugther, she loved them.I put a small crochet star between the two last fingers,to make it more girly, and there are very beautiful.Sorry for my english, thanks again.
Δημητρα Καραγιαννιδου it sounds lovely! I love that you added your own personal touch! Happy Stitching!
yes perfect! Thanks for stopping by!
I'm a beginner and I mastered this in about 2 hours now all I have to do is stitch my sides :) great job really nice. I love your video.
This is great for the winter
a great pattern!! I love the hdc in the back loop and the txture it gives...took me a while to get the hang of it being a novice crocheter but i made a pair of these in a coupld of hours! Thanks!!
until you reach the desired size. Place it up to your hand and decide how long you want it, then just make sure you do the same for the other one! Thanks for watching!
Adorable! And the pattern looks very easy to understand. Thank you for sharing!
you do such an awesome job. Easy to follow. you should make a video showing how to crochet fingerless gloves with mittens
you are so awesome at doing this and you know how you were talking about how you tighten the string as you go well i do that all the time because otherwise when i look at it at the end and i have to start over because it dosent look as nice
Hey Melanie! I wannt to use this pattern for another winter scarf it's so pretty:) I have a question: So is it always 2 rows regular hdc and then 2 rows hdc through the back loop?
you can use a small crochet hook and just weave in the end as best you can.
I've been crocheting for years and this is still really the only fingerless glove technique that I use.
well, make sure you aren't doing too many on the ends...if you need to count each row and see if you are actually making more stitches, or just using looser tension? Sometimes the end right before I turn the work, its easy to add 1 extra stitch that doesn't need to be there? does that help?
I really want to make mittens for my adult daughter to match the infinity scarf pattern I got from you. Do you have any crochet mitten videos? LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos!!
Loved them! And nice colour too, I´m still learning crochet and I love it. Thanks for sharing.
Cute pattern, just what I was looking for. And cute sneak attack of the kitty paws...LOL
Super easy so you made it look that way.
Good demonstration, quick and looks easy..got any lefty videos?
love your tutorials!! Thank you so much!! This is a new favourite item to make!
Thank you so much, it was easy to understand and it helped a lot. I love your videos about crochet tutorials :)
Super easy! Made a matching set to go with the beanie I made from another video. Thanks!
is it a super fuzzy yarn? You may not be able to see the ribs because it is a bit subtle. I guess just make sure you are stitching in that back loop and try a few more rows... its hard to tell with just 2 or 3 rows completed. Hope that helps!
good suggestion! I will try and do that next time! Thanks!
Oh great! These will make great gifts!
that WAS AWESOME! these will be perfect for hunting!!
These look so trendy even though they're simple to make - love the look of the back loop stitches :-)
Hi there. Love your videos. If you are looking for more topics, can you do one on tension - what's right? how do you adjust as you go along? You mentioned in this video you adjust as you go. I'm wondering how. Anyway, love your stuff! Your videos have been very helpful. Keep it up!
omg this is so cool. doing it right away. thanks for sharing. best video ever!
Yes you can use bulkier yarn, just watch your size and really measure it to your hand because you may need to do fewer stitches across. Also use the hook recommended by the yarn packaging. Thanks for watching and stopping by!
I think you probably could, but that would make the thumb opening very tricky. Thanks for watching!
This looks very easy and beautiful!! I'm going to try it. Thanks :)
I love all of your work!! thanks for making so many awesome videos.
Muy facil, he visto orros videos y la verdad este ha sido el mejor
Really easy! thank! =) Cute texture!
Thank you so much for sharing.. Going to start on a pair for my daughter..
Hey! I loved your tutorial. I've watched most of yours and made a few of them including the beanie
Loved it...I'm gonna make them ASAP...you made it soooo simple...thanks alot...please share some patterns of booties and scarf/caps...God bless..Cheers
Thank you soooo much!! I love the way you do your videos, everything is easy & cute! I love your channel. A big hug from Italy ^_^
Thanks Melanie!! I'm enjoying making these :)
hmmm, yes I would try a softer yarn and ease up on your stitching. don't tug on the yarn too tight, let it glide along your finger as you stitch. You can try a larger hook as well. Hope it works out!
Such a fantastic tutorial!! Thank you!
This was uploaded the day before my birthday!😋😊😄
I don't think I said how many rows, I did it more by measurement. Each type of yarn and hook size will be slightly different, so its best to measure on your hand and decide how many inches you want. Hope that helps!
crochet is fun even for beginners like me thanks love the glove
Thank you so much queen 💗💗
Yep! You got it! Send me a pic when you are done! ;)
So cute
like with individual finger holes? That's an entirely different pattern and much more complicated lol!! Thanks for watching!
I have a video from last fall called How to Crochet a Simple and Stylish Scarf and I just uploaded a new tutorial for an infinity scarf. Happy Stitching!
thank you so easy and cute
I just made these really easy. Great instructions. I just needed to know what size needles did you use? I kinda made it a little small but I am still learningI am making theme for Xmas presents. thank you
Thanks for this tutorial and where can u buy hat yarn color its a really nice color
great pattern, seem easy enough for a beginner like me
one question though, how much yarn is needed for a pair? one 100gr ball is enough?
at the end of a row you can switch colors wherever you like!
Mine was just over 7 inches, I'm not sure how many rows that is, I went off of inches and how it looked on my hand.
How much yarn did you use for a set of fingerless gloves? I love this pattern
It is an I, 5.5 mm. Thanks!
Your tutorials are wonderful! Any tips or patterns for boot cuffs? I've seen a great deal on other channels, but they were hard to follow. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)
Kimberly Sansano I am currently working on a book cuff pattern ;) Hoping to get it filmed for my next video... if not the one after that ;)
I made me some I loooooove them thank you so much for this Video
Thanks for this tutorial. 👍
Hi! Great video. Quick question: you mentioned at the end just before you were going to sew it up that there was a wider part. Does that mean that at some point you did more stitches towards the top or are they all the same length?
Thankyou for the really good tutorial :)
I love this pattern. Just a question did you turn it inside out after you sewed it together
Hi there! I love this pattern. Can I ask about how much yarn it uses? Thanks!
Is there a good way of incorporating different color yarns in the same glove?
Same hook i Learned With and use
thank you so much...so helpful...and you're really pretty:)
Have you ever made Boot Cuffs? I am very interested in learning how to make these. I assume it is somewhat like making these gloves. I am a beginner, so I could be wrong. :)
I have that yarn!
So I really love these gloves. However, it's getting really cold here and my fingers are freezing! Is there any way you can show us how to add fingers to your wristers, or maybe show a video to make fingered gloves? Thanks!!!
