  • Residents who escaped from a fire in a large block of flats in east London have told Sky News they feel "abandoned".
Five weeks after the blaze, both the block's management company and owner of the building have failed to meet them.
The response has been branded "woeful" by the local council.
Taxpayers have had to pay £500,000 to support those residents who have lost everything in the fire in Dagenham.

This is when a proper government would stand up and hold people accountable. They want to stand up to people posting on Facebook but look away when it comes to true leadership. Disgraceful from all involved..

Planning permission was granted by the "Council" to build an unsafe building, was it not?

They make sure of that by palming everything out to private sector so they can wash their hands of the poor.
It's down to council to ensure all property on their Borough used for social housing meets every safety standard

Many of us are living in dangerous properties. Electrical wiring becoming dangerous because of mould and damp.
There are problems within the housing sector, major problems.
Many of us living in HAs live with issues every day.

im just happy the council has helped them but the company and owner of building should be held accountable, they should be imprisoned for improper safety measures, its sad to say that it might just be a £5000 fine for them if measures arent taken by the residents affected.

Angela rayner is the housing minister. She has decided to increase social housing rent to the same amount as a similar privately rented home would be. She also wants to halt all sales of council owned properties. Renting council homes and then buying them was is the only way a lot of people will have an affordable home. Now we find yhat although there was meant to be an overhaul of how privately rented housing is regulated, the only 'change' is to evictions which is so full of loopholes it is barely any kind of barrier to evictions. So where is the statement today from raynor on this disastrous fire weeks after tenants became homeless and who have had no contact at all from the owner or a compensation claim avenue made available to them by arinium, brijesh patels company that he is sole director of.
