  • Hey guys, just a quick video on what I use to clean the exhaust tips on my 2017 Audi S3, the same methods can be used on pretty much ANY car with chrome exhaust tips, pretty quick and easy and takes around 15 minutes depending on how dirty your exhaust is.
    Thanks for watching

    Hey mate, I think it would be better if you wash/wipe off the dirt before applying the polish. You will get a much better finish and will not waste as much polish. I normally wet a microfibre cloth and just wipe them down.

      Literally just cleaned my tips with a wet micro fibre then checked to see what people are using to finish off. I'll get some of this stuff on my next visit. Ps like your style hamza you seem i nice genuine guy.

      If it’s like my golf you should be able to remove the chrome exhaust tip, you should be able to twist them left and right and they will come off, they do grip the exhaust with like a spring clip. Then clean them with warm water and car shampoo, dry and I then use T-Cut metal polish to give them a sparkling finish.

    I’ve just used this on my audi. Def need a lot of elbow grease to get the stubborn areas. The top of my pipes looks great. It’s the lower part of the rim that still has dirt on. I’ve been scrubbing for ages too. I’m not to keen on wire-wool although quite a few use it to assist them.

    Hi Hamza - Good video. I've fought with this issue on my last two S3's. Two other options - 1) Wire Wool 0000, really light abrasive (gun grade) - doesn't damage the chrome and 2) Use VCDS or Disconnect the exhaust valve - otherwise the inner pipe gets all the muck - this would even out the soot over the two pipes :-)

    • @TRHamza
      @TRHamza  7 лет назад

      +R Griffiths Thanks mate, will take your advice on board and give those methods a go next time they're covered in soot!

    Super helpful video. Gave it a shot on my own car today using Mother's automotive metal polish. You are completely right that the more time and elbow grease put in, the better the results. Thanks for posting! Subscription inbound :)

  • @RobertLeBlancPhoto

    Before polishing, I like to clean them with a degreaser like Oil Eater. This makes it easier and you use much less polish.

  • @zayplayz5773
    @zayplayz5773 7 лет назад +4

    Not a bad job, but would definitely recommend giving the exhaust a quick wipe down first with water before applying the polish

    • @TRHamza
      @TRHamza  7 лет назад

      Yeah true, reason I didn't wipe left side was due to me wiping the right set and finding it didn't make too much of a difference, I think giving it a thorough jet wash would help beforehand. Dirt was just too thick.

    pro tip: just pull the exhaust tip out, it is literally only held in place by tension brackets.
    so to clean it just pull the tips out and then you will actually have it so much easier to clean and polish the chrome tips.
