You have to DIVE to dodge those pillars? I don't think I've ever been hit by one of them and I just kept walking past everything.
From looking into the behavior, I guess the game subtracts 1 health sliver when you switch into an airborne action. This way replicates all the health losses
The "boulders" on Bob-Omb Battlefield are actually cannonballs, just so you know.
The two that are in the first star are cannonballs, the one that appears after that is king bob-omb’s corpse

I’m genuinely surprised that the mod damages you whenever you’re in the air, and doesn’t seem to check if Mario is moving upwards in particular. That would make the mechanic a lot less finicky, and probably a tad more accurate.
Regardless, great video! Beating the game this way looked like a complete nightmare, so I’m impressed you managed it.

think an interesting mod would be a randomizer...but on effects....every few minutes, positive and negative effects will hit...will mario be able to jump higher, or walk like of on ice....or take damage from doing regular things like jumping or what not? heck if was possible....could stream it on Twitch and have Chat support, as every so often, people in chat could vote for an effect, or use bits to cause an effect to happen to player.
