In my opinion, less bitter, less piney, less malty, and more fruity, all in a good way, im honestly not super big on the fruitier hops, but this is so well balanced with the sweet fruitiness and the resinous bitterness, I think i like it more than pliney the elder, its awesome, way more crushable for sure. I stopped drinking ipas a few years ago but this is a 9.5/10 IPA IMO.
My mouth was watering while you were nosing it and talking about all the aromas. Great review of a very expensive brew. Cheers and thanks for the content.
Hey Joe! Love stoutness this year, always look forward to it. I thought I might mention some video ideas, I would love to see a blind comparison of fresh Pliny vs 6month old Pliny or 1 year old Pliny. Does it really make any noticeable difference? Also would love to see some non-alcoholic beer comparisons. I’ve been drinking NA Stella, Sierra Nevada Hop water. As much as I would love to have beer every night I have too much shit to do😂. So NA beer is the ultimate team low ABV. I’ve noticed a change in the bourbon reviewers content, people are now talking about how really hyped bottles arent THAT good, and secondary really really isnt worth it. It would be cool to review overpriced beers vs breweries that aren’t price gouging side by side. I appreciate when you try and bring some sanity back to the beer community. Thanks✌🏼
I’ve been really wanting to dive into the world of N/A beers! Seems there are more and more on the shelf these days. Love the other suggestions, too. Appreciate it!! 🍻
Kroger coupon $6.99 for a 12 pack of Miller High Life 12 packs. Limit of three. So around $21 for 3 12 packs. And what was the price of 4 pint cans? Was it really worth it?
Everything is depressingly expensive. I quit looking at the prices on food and drink. I just buy it and enjoy it. Life is too short. I work hard so I drink expensively.
It’s just not necessary to charge $28. North Park consistently brews Hop-Fu! and it’s $19/4 pack and it’s DDH. It’s a shame RR made this beer this expensive because of hype.
Oh, my buddy hooked me up with a can of the first version. This recipe sounds betters to me with the slightly lower ABV. The price is crazy unless some of the profit is going to a donation for example.
Gave up trading years ago and I never have bought a can of beer on the secondary market. Pre-pandemic, there was a bottle shop in our neighborhood that was selling cans of Heady Topper for $20 ea. I did the same thing you did with your middle digit ! The pricing of beer is getting insane and the $30 four pack of hoppy beer will be seen in 2024. I love this beer, have a dear friend who lives in Nor Cal who sends me these and the Younger bottles when he can grab a few, is this worth $28 a four pack ? You mentioned North Parks Dank Vault Quadruple Dry hopped quad at $27 per four pack, I justified it and am quite happy I snagged some, believe it or not, after watching your post on their Real Dog Dads Of Hopewell, I truly believe you would enjoy it for what it is, there is NO way this is a 12% beer and it's impeccably balanced and delicious. Now, I do hope you grabbed some of the re-booted TDH Dankers Hill WCIPA.BTW, I did ask Kelsey about the hazy Hop Fu! and he explained it as being caused by the batch of clarifying/ fining agent they have currently. BTW, Dankers hill looks like an unfiltered WCIPA too but it is insanely delicious. Cheers man.
The extra cost for higher abv comes from more malts, and it's not even close to the extra cost for higher hopping rate. So I will say it's a bit unfair to use abv to differentiate the pricing of an IPA, no matter how you used to shop in the past.
How does North Park regularly release Hop-Fu @ $19/4pack? That too is a 7.5% ABV DDH IPA - much like this beer. It’s hype, it’s an every 4 year release, and they’re talking advantage (IMO). $28/4pack is insanity.
@@jsenigaglia Yes it's purely hype, and it probably helps their marketing in a big way. However, I don't agree that as big as RRBC in terms of its volume size, a price-raised IPA that only get to release every 4 years could generate much profit at all. I still tend to believe it's because of ingredients , process or labor cost.
I’ve been asking for cans of Pig and Pliny for YEARS now! Totally agree with you! And yes, the price of this beer is asinine. Last release you could buy 16 cans for $105 shipped. They could have easily done that again this release. I’ve been to their breweries. They’re printing money.
@@jsenigaglia On premise sales and profits have always been part of RR's financial equation. Before Windsor opened the original pub in downtown Santa Rosa was packed most of the time.
$28/4 = $7 pint! That's expensive for a can, but fairly normal for a bar pour. Russian River definitely never really sold cheap to-go beer, and I guess they're not about to start now.
We've started getting Trillium drops here in Asheville, NC and they're typically priced at around $8 for a can of IPA and $9 for a can of DIPA. Spent $30 on a 4pk yesterday ha ha! Heading back up today because we also got a massive drop from The Veil so I have to scoop those. Those are a bit more reasonable. $5 for IPA and $5.50 - $6 for DIPA. Also ONE-MOTHERFUCKING-HUNNIT on the absolute shit show that is the trading scene today. We get so much good beer on the shelf now, much of it former hyper beer from former hype breweries. And there are so many good breweries, namely Burial, who brews some of the best beer in the damn game PERIOD, I don't need to even bother with trading anymore.
That sounds like heaven, to be honest. Fruity yet resinous and dank. I need more great West coast like this in my life.
It’s an amazing beverage. $40/4pack good? No where near.

What made you stop drinking IPA? Just over it?
Pliny for president it’s coming back this Friday 06/28/2024
Great beer 🍻

Appreciate you watching! 🍻
One would pay $8 for a crap beer in a bar Ill take the pint of that any day of the week if available. Steller review bro! Cheers!
Agree, but we expect to pay a markup at bars right? 😬🍻
True Dat!@@jsenigaglia
I'd love to try this when I get it off layaway 😢.
I found these local to me in glass bottles for $7 a pint. Still steep but not nearly $10 a pint. Modern beer prices hurt my wallet.
$7 is what we paid but shipping killed us. Taters gotta tate tho ya know? 🍻

I made it clear the price of these cans sucked 😂
just ordered a 12 pack from brewery
Hope you enjoy! 🍻
I would be tempted to pay that price but I'd feel depressed while drinking it lol

I got a bottle of this yesterday for 6.99
Correct. Same size as the 16oz cans (roughly). $28/4 pack + shipping makes it almost $10/can. Insane.
@@jsenigaglia Yeah. I'm lucky enough to be able to find it locally. 17.25 oz bottle for 6.99 is less painful.

You know I’m all about the lower ABV 😎. Who knows where the profits are going, but $40/4pack after shipping is wild.

Love me some Pliny but $28! Another gripe…can we stop the 16oz bottle format for their other offerings…clearly they are able to can their beer

I've said it before and I'll say it again 4 packs of canned Blind Pig por favor!

And we pay 14 euro's for Other Half beers.
I'd pay that for Pliny too, could use me some.

Whale tax, brah. But regular Pliny is $6/ea at RR or at a CA Whole Foods near you, so that's $24/4… so what’s another $4 for a small batch release??
$6/ea for a bigger serving, at a higher ABV 🤔. Just wild to me that NP releases Hop Fu regularly (a DDH IPA @ 7.5%) for $19/4pack 🤷🏻♂️
