For everyone saying Dukes superhero name is Lark here is word From Scott Synder himself on the matter twitter.com/Ssnyder1835/status/875173053805854720 I thought it was Lark too until he told everyone otherwise.
Its not a Jack Kirby Monolith Its a "cosmic tuning fork" tower used by the Monitor in Crisis on Infinite Earths, and by Alexander Luthor of Earth 3 in Infinite Crisis.
Caped-Joel The desing of the cosmic tuning fork has always been a little Kirby-esque, it's an easy mistake to make if you don't have Crisis on Infinite Earths on your mind.
This is possibly only one of the three jokers. The reveal is crazy and no clue which one this is. I think it is Post Crisis joker. This story line is so good and this was just the prologue.
Really dug this issue! I'm surprised this hasn't been promoted much. I didn't know this was coming out until like I think 3 weeks ago when I was putting together my pull list for the coming weeks. I'm super curious as to why Batman has been keeping Plastic Man locked up (as well as the Joker of course) and what Batman's overall plan is.
thanks for the recap, had to confirm all the references I saw in this, so crazy how so many things are being weaved and how many layers are in just this one issue but seriously, Batman has yet............................ANOTHER team? people are talking about the mystery of the 3 Jokers, how many fucking Batmans are there? haha
Grant Duong I felt the same way about the number of BATMANS (BATMEN?)after reading this issue. Tom Kings Batman does not seem like the same Batman that could have a JOKER locked up but the character in DETECTIVE COMICS does.
Grant Duong and maybe there is only one BATMAN and he jumps all dimensions of the multiverse like Mr. Terrific can? Whatever the case, this book piqued my interest.
from what I've read so far, this is the first time I've seen it mentioned, I'm following Detective Comics, All Star Batman and "Batman" I recently stopped following JLA and not reading Justice League or Trinity so i have no idea if they were mentioned there. Goddamn, he's in a lot of DC comics, lol
Would this mean Batman is Eternal (get it? Batman Eternal?) because a version of the NTH metal healed him? or because it's not a pure version It just healed him once that's it? btw, I prefer Hawkman's Alien Origin instead of the Reincarnation one, it's less complicated to explain.
manuel cabeza I read the original run of OUTSIDERS as a young teen when Aparro then Davis did the art and seeing that team in only one panel made the fanboy in me go,"Giggity Giggity!"
Alexander Jongman Carter Hall: reincarnated Egyptian prince, first Hawkman. Katar Hol: policeman from Thanagar, second Hawkman. And yes there's a reason why their names are similar. Carter's friend Perry Carter was actually Paran Katar of Thanagar, who later named his son Katar Hol. (I think I got all that right.)
I have zero interest in another 'big event' storyline. Zero interest in alternate versions of Batman fighting (real) Batman. Zero interest in Watchmen fighting mainstream DC characters. It's all a huge amount of complicated bullshit. " Cosmic reality change " happens to much in DC...we're suffering from burn out as readers

yay
interesting
Its not a Jack Kirby Monolith
Its a "cosmic tuning fork" tower used by the Monitor in Crisis on Infinite Earths, and by Alexander Luthor of Earth 3 in Infinite Crisis.
Things are about to get Grant Morrison-level insane!
Ooooooh
Caped-Joel Ya got nerd served :P
Caped-Joel The desing of the cosmic tuning fork has always been a little Kirby-esque, it's an easy mistake to make if you don't have Crisis on Infinite Earths on your mind.
Caped-Joel so are they/ Have they explained that 3 joker plot line?
Me: Hello I am selling metal would you like to buy some
Batman: Did you say METAL
Me yes sir with or without nyth
Batman: METAL METAL METAL!
This issue was amazing. I literally almost dropped my comic on the Joker reveal.
Talon I did because of pure giddiness.
Hopefully with Mr. Terrific being back in the main universe that means we can get Val-Zod in the main universe too
I didn't even know this was coming out until now...
I was so freaking happy to see Lady Blackhawk. She's been gone a long time!
so the Joker was captured by Batman and locked in the cave WHAT!!!
This is possibly only one of the three jokers. The reveal is crazy and no clue which one this is. I think it is Post Crisis joker. This story line is so good and this was just the prologue.
No. i think Joker was hiding in there without batman knowing
Pedro Aguirre no its Snyder/n52 joker.
You do know that that Scott Snyder said that this is connected to Rebirth right?
Glad I picked this up... joker at the end cant wait for more
isnt that the machine/tower that superboy prime used to bring back his universe?
fernando wetherbee yup.

Its like being caught in a hurricane and spit out the other end. Its like wtf happend?
Dude didn't you see lady black hawk and plastic man
Instinct rT plastic man is the red, yellow, Black egg that Batman and Mr. Terrific open the vault to
Daniel Lara yeah, PLASTICMAN is Batmans secret weapon. This is some crazy comicbook goodness goin on.
thanks for the recap, had to confirm all the references I saw in this, so crazy how so many things are being weaved and how many layers are in just this one issue
but seriously, Batman has yet............................ANOTHER team?

and that's not counting "All Star Batman" and "JLA Batman" either, lol
Grant Duong This is the first mention of the Outsiders since before the New 52 reboot, right? And they look different than I recall.
from what I've read so far, this is the first time I've seen it mentioned, I'm following Detective Comics, All Star Batman and "Batman"
I recently stopped following JLA and not reading Justice League or Trinity so i have no idea if they were mentioned there. Goddamn, he's in a lot of DC comics, lol
This was good
omg that tower is the tower that alexander luthor used in infinite crisis. how did batman get that?
Andrew Richards hell, how did he get the Joker? And the secret weapon, PLASTICMAN? Batman is too much.
how will this not impact the main continuity its in the same universe and will have lasting effects
Oh, and Plastic Man is an egg for some reason.
Live To Rock The liquid version of dionysium only heals once
Yeah but that's lame and iut means no hawkman in the JSA.
Live To Rock I think they're both currently dead anyway. I don't know if Batman even remembers Carter Hall. He didn't remember Jay Garrick.
Oh how I love dc rebirth
"I want to know, if this could be my fate..." =D Wonder if anyone will get that reference...
i have no idea what went on in at all in this issue. I know Joel explained but I feel like too much was going on too fast but I am still Interested
Duke's codename is Lark but never uses it.
From Dukes Creator Scott Synder just tonight in a fan Q&A twitter.com/Ssnyder1835/status/875173053805854720
I heard no announcement for this whatsoever so when it came out I didnt buy it because I thought it was an elseworlds story
Dukes superhero name is signal
Lost my mind when they revealed the Joker, is it 2 left now?
Instinct rT but that story is from the first year of Bruce as Batman right?
Why does Aquaman have long hair all of a sudden?
I think we both know the hair and the beard is because of the upcoming movie
Nice the outsiders batman black op team still exist
manuel cabeza I read the original run of OUTSIDERS as a young teen when Aparro then Davis did the art and seeing that team in only one panel made the fanboy in me go,"Giggity Giggity!"
this issue...
So there are two Hawkmen?
Who was the Hawkman in Death of Hawkman
Alexander Jongman Carter Hall: reincarnated Egyptian prince, first Hawkman. Katar Hol: policeman from Thanagar, second Hawkman. And yes there's a reason why their names are similar. Carter's friend Perry Carter was actually Paran Katar of Thanagar, who later named his son Katar Hol. (I think I got all that right.)
Isn't Duke's hero name Lark
DC wanted something that felt a bit stronger so they are not going with LARK
Duke's name is Lark I think
He tried out Lark never settled on it Scott Synder said today on twitter by the end of this story Duke would pick his name.
I'm fine with twittie-bird but nah Duke is mad cool
I thought that sinestro killed all the guardians?
he spared Ganthet and Sayd cus they were cool
theres another one called Rami running around too
Austin Cole that's right. thanks. It's been forever since I read Johns finale
Rami was expelled billions of years ago from Oa.
isn't Hawkman dead?
Is this apart of Rebirth canon.
Sure seems to be, until we see later its not
Caped-Joel I remember reading that it won't have any tie-ins with the "regular" titles but there will be "ripple effects" later on
I personally felt this story was okay not the best just okay
