Hi, I recently got the Marantz M1, and I'm coming from Bluesound Powernode 2 i, and Nad 3045. With the same speakers (NHT 1.1), of course in the same context the M1 was the best overall, wide soundstage, warm and detailed sound so much that it doesn't even seem like a class D. The other 2 sound much flatter, with a decidedly narrower soundstage. This is my opinion, obviously.
I have the q150, ls50 meta n lrs+… do you think it plays well on the lrs??? That requires me so much power and a subwoofer. I do think i prefer cutting subs out to handle all the bass even though my rels n others say the blending is better
Great review. I like the M1 but for $1K I would like to have 2 independent sub outs and a remote, to justify the price a little more over the cheaper amps it is competing with. And bravo for "Made in Japan" need more of this!
Great review! I love your Italian accent :) Would you think the M1 is overpowered and a good fit for the Project Speakerbox V2s? I am planning to buy a REL Tzero MKIII with it.
@@MrOliver1444 ok now, I didn’t test this combination but box 5 s2 is a neutral speaker and should work well with the M1 despite not having the need for all this power! Take a look also of Musica Fidelity A1, with Box 5 S2 are magic. But is another category of price and setup!

I agree 100%. If all the streaming crap is what you care about (I use Airplay for everything anyway), well then get the WiiM. But if you care about sound quality, get the M1. I would get the M1 and feed a WiiM mini into it if needed.
Thank you for a good and thorough review. I currently have Focal Chora 826 speakers and they, as you probably know, have a bright soundstage. Do you consider the M1 a better purchase than the Audiolab 7000A? Or will the M1 be too bright for my speakers?
@@patos6619 M1 is not supposed to be bright but instead very extended and detailed, so is not for those are looking for something more warm. BTW 7000a is warm on bottom but also emphasising a little bit top end so be careful!
@@m4nc1n1 I'm a bit skeptical. I'd bet that the new WiiM Ultra Streamer with iOS compatible room correction software @ $319. feeding a pair of Q Acoustics M20 Active Speakers @ $499. connected to a Kanto Sub 8 @ $269. would in a smaller room, blow away the Model M1. Hi Mad Audio! Thanks for the great review! I have a question about my current setup, which consists of a Wiim PRO streaming via coaxial to a Geshelli Labs DAC, connected by RCA to a NAD C328 (50W) that powers a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 speakers. I’m only using the NAD for amplification and volume control, leaving its other features (DAC, Phono in, and additional inputs) unused. The Marantz M1 caught my eye as a potential replacement of the NAD due to its HDMI ARC/eARC capabilities and features that could enhance the cinematic experience (like virtual mode and Dolby decoding). My concern, however, is that the M1 seems to convert even analog signals from the RCA input to digital. My goal was to keep my Wiim + Geshelli DAC setup for serious music listening while using the M1 for movies and series from TV via HDMI ARC. I'm worried that the analog-to-digital conversion in the M1 might alter the sound signature I’ve achieved with the Geshelli Labs DAC, which I’m very pleased with. Do you have any suggestions? Would this upgrade be worth it?
@@MadAudiofficialnot yet, I really want a classic look like the Wharfdale Lintons and was looking for something like the M1 to match it. I only use an iPad and iPhone for my source.
