This is an awesome video thanks for sharing this with us really cool and I feel like I just went back in time to a place long ago far away wear it all started would have liked to have been there for this love the cars and the sound of those flatys thanks again for an awesome video
Bless there heart's, some of these you've got time to go get a Hot Dog an Coke an still have time to get back to watch them finish, it's really stepping back in time
Going back farther to the board track racing for motorcycles is more interesting, and more dangerous. There are a few good videos from back in the day.
You are correct and you’re definitely not the first person I’ve heard say that either. I have a 1981 Datsun 200 SX that weighs 2600 pounds with the stock inline four 2 litter z20e engine that makes 124 ft lbs of torque and only 100 hp, and keep in mind that’s to the crank not even to the wheels and that’s when the engine is new. Let me tell you though it’s quite fun to floor it and with it being straight piped it sounds so loud and so good! With the five speed manual transmission and being rwd, it’s still quite fun going 0 to 60 in 10 seconds. hahah!
!n 1953 Ford still had the flat head V-8, chevy had an overhead valve straight 6, while Chrysler had the 331 cu in Desoto hemi V-8, Chrysler was always ahead in engineering
I have a 8 sec rat rod truck and a 7 sec Camaro. And my supercharged 235 inline 6. 50 chevy business coupe with all the old school Mcgurk pistons 30 over.. A berry's cam. Electronic ignition. Clifford true headers and a Clifford 4 barrel intake witch was modified to fit A weiand 142 supercharger. And a 650 Holly. Is way more fun to drive! All street legal btw.....
There’s diminishing returns on horsepower. Eventually it gets to a point where it’s all the same. You can only go so fast on the street. I’d rather a car be fun and reliable than fast. I’ve had fast Kawasaki’s that spent more time under the wrench than on the road.

Should be leaving the line on the upstroke of the flag. That's how I always saw it done.
Man, I'm old!
9:11 Was really wanting to see that V12 run.

Makes you appreciate how far everything has come. 700hp and 10 second passes are the norm nowadays but somehow this is more interesting to me.
Good clean fun without the added danger of going 110+ but also the danger of not having abs nor traction control. Love it.
That's awesome to watch and I'd bet it's fun as hell to do too
Excellent stuff.
I'm blown away!
Great to see all these old rods just given her,,,,machines are meant to be used and these certainly were.
If my dad saw this he'd be immediately 10-20 years younger.
classic at its best

Reminds me of my 1950 Plymouth with a flat head 6. Cracked a piston skirt in that going flat out.
That hemi pickup tho. 😍
Wow!
I'll be there for 2018 in three weeks.
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe
Is it just me, or is pushing 50 horsepower to its limit way more fun than half throttle at a thousand?

Wanna be a part of this someday

chrysler also mostly had a flathead straight 6
Very nice! Would like to know times.
Who won?
There were winning lane lights, guess they weren't working.
Kool Vid though
Can some of those flatheads run 100mph?
IIRC, there were flatheads running 130+ on the salt lakes back in the day. Not set up with tall gearing for acceleration of course.
Her vertical is 1 inch.
