      @@georgeluna5845 If you want an in depth review, wait until any of the sax youtubers put out a review. I have been playing for about a 2 and a half years on a jean baptiste. For me I got slightly better control of the sound for upper register, not super crazy about the finish but i can tolerate it, the case is lacking as my old case is larger and I can hold my sheet music when I go to lessons, has a nice warm tone, indent in the pearls could be a bit wider, kinda miss the palm key F# still can't get used to alt fingering. Didn't bother with the reeds and mouthpiece it came with as I like my Selmer S80 C* with 3.0 vandoren reds.

    It's interesting that these two ornaments have been used, diatonically, forever in Celtic Trad music. Hitting the lower neighboring note before the target note is called a "tap" or a "strike" in, for example, tin whistle playing. Hitting the note above is called a "cut". Since I play the tin whistle too, I naturally use this ornament on sax, and I think the tap/strike generally sounds way better than a scoop.

    • @robbertzzzzz
      @robbertzzzzz 3 года назад

      Depends on the octave mechanism. My first sax had the same problem, but there was too much play in the mechanism to really do anything about it without specialised tools and good insurance. You could look if there are adjustable parts; one thing would be the vertical rod the pivots, it sometimes has ends that can be bent using a flathead screwdriver to reduce the amount of play.
