    I used to work with people living with dementia. Our goal was to keep their bodies and minds engaged in meaningful ways. Engaging them with body/mind exercises was so powerful. We'd see their eyes light up and a smile across their face when we had some fun tossing them a ball and having them throw it back to us with one or the other hand. Oppositional body work really keeps the mind sharp. Thank you for this quickie!

    Any recommendations for avoiding straining the knees? My knees hurt after the workout so I know I did something wrong

    • @MelanieLopezPilates
      @MelanieLopezPilates  Год назад +1

      Good question - it’s hard to say without seeing you move, but barring any pathology, the first thing I’d typically look at is whether you’re landing softly and rolling through the feet when you land the jumps (rolling from toe to ball to heel), or landing on the center of the foot with more force (would cause more stress). The other thing I’d look at next is whether the toes, knees and hips are all in alignment throughout the jumps, as misalignment of these during jumps can contribute to pressure or stress on the joints. I hope that this is helpful!

    Wonderful. 🎉May I ask for this machine is being 5’9 any concern for jumping?

    • @MelanieLopezPilates
      @MelanieLopezPilates  Год назад

      I think you would be fine 🙂 I am 5’10”, and unless I’m doing exceptionally explosive jumps, I don’t come near hitting the top. If you’re still concerned, I believe Balanced Body also offered a “stretch” model with longer rails when I bought mine in 2020, but I’m not certain if that’s still the case.

    I love jump board but find it hard for my neck and to keep lower back imprinted, one legged is easier ,any suggestions?

    • @MelanieLopezPilates
      @MelanieLopezPilates  Год назад +1

      For your neck, you could try keeping your head down, or lifting it only at certain intervals. You don’t have to keep your back imprinted, unless you’re having lower back discomfort and that particularly helps - you can try neutral spine instead. I’d say you can play around with neutral vs. imprinted spine, as well as making sure that the legs aren’t too low if it’s a challenge to keep the spine and pelvis stable in any position.

    Melanie is it ever possible to land on the heels of the feet first? I have just started using my jump board and love it but I read that for Osteo and bone strength you need to use the heels…??? I think that would be a bit weird but…

    • @MelanieLopezPilates
      @MelanieLopezPilates  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Laura -- I think it's physically possible, if uncomfortable, but I wouldn't be qualified to answer if that is the best course of action. That would probably be a good question for your PT/Dr./physiatrist. If you get an all-clear to proceed, I'm not sure if this would help, but there are some reformer models that offer trampoline jumpboards and might offer a softer landing pad. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
