The Ventures were idols of my brothers and I back in the sixties. We even formed a local combo band and tried to emulate The Ventures. It was fun. We even used some of the play along with The Ventures teaching material to try and get that sound. Lost track of the Ventures through the years but thanks to RUclips have learned more about them than ever. Sad to have lost Mel, Bob, and recently Nokie, but the other guys are doing great. "Let's Go" Ventures.

We saw Nokie Edwards play at the bar at Three Rivers Casino in Florence, Oregon shortly before he passed away. He was very frail but the music was pure magic.
Always wanted a Moserite but a Jazzmaster sounds better.
Although The Ventures were huge in USA and Britain, they were not the first guitar group. CLIFF RICHARD had a backing group called THE SHADOWS made hits in Britain since 1958. Their first record released in 1959 was a number 1 hit called APACHE, and Hank Marvin, the lead guitarist used a tremelo bar on hin Stratocaster.
So what is your point?/it wasnt as good as the original Danishguitar player Jorden Igman did orginal in his home studio look it up on you tube
True. The Shadows influenced a huge number of kids to pick up guitars for the first time. 🎸

This documentary is priceless! Thanks so much. :-) How the hell are the Ventures not huge still in the U.S. today?!! It's criminal given so much of today's crap music.

As far as I'm concerned,...I learned guitar listening to the Ventures back in 1958-59,...but I also listen a great deal to the ..Fireballs whom I also loved their sound and learned from them as well. Both groups played a very Important role in my guitar playing in my life. It saddens me to see them getting older and dying, but I guess that's the way The Good Lord plans it for all of us ..

I even saw you in Spokane WA back in the mid '90s in a High School auditorium. It was a fairly unannounced (by radio) concert and I took my family, and we were fortunate to get in and sit up front!! What a treat that was. You guys took requests at the end and I remember some ignorant lady asking you guys why you never SING anything!!! Hahahahaha....the number ONE Instrumental group in the WORLD and she asked that question.... I think her husband cleared that up in a hurry when they went home!! ;-)

The drummer Skip Moore, never gets enough credit on Walk Don't Run. The drumming is sensational. He never pursued a career with The Ventures and was paid a flat $25.00 to play on Walk Don't Run with no future royalties. He was offered the job but did not want to travel. Howie Johnson replaced him.
