It is an interviewers job to ask the celebrities questions, within a certain limit. That interviewer did not have the right to bring up Robert’s past. Robert handled the situation extremely well. He is a well respected and very talented actor now and that interviewer can...(you can fill in the blank)
What is the name of this pathetic excuse of an interviewer who according to comments section has been asking these ridiculously pointless questions to several celebrities and still has his interviewer hat and badge?
It’s not okay to ask him that question he had the right to leave and the interviewer was like a kid interviewing anybody with any questions sometimes they cross the limit.
While I don't like the interviewer's actions I don't think it was handled that well by Tony as people say it was. I mean him saying "Bye." and walking out was really abrupt and random. If I were Tony I would've tried redirecting the interviewer to more relevant questions and told him that what you're currently asking isn't good. That he has to stop and ask better questions or I'm leaving. I would've let him know that the questions are off track and personal and that he has to stop and get better or it's over. Basically I'd be telling him what he's doing wrong and to improve. Just leaving someone just says you're upset it doesn't say why. If someone is upsetting you let them know why unless they're a really unstable person like a domestic abuser and you just need to get out of there. Be explicit. They need to know why in order to improve and not do it again and again. People that screw up need to be told that in order to really learn from it. Now will they? Not necessarily, but at least you were explicit so they can't say "I didn't know!" or "You didn't say anything!". Now do we have a responsibility to gauge our behavior regardless if the person says anything? Of course, but being explicit makes it really clear of what they need to stop doing. No ambiguity, just certainty. Regardless of my judgment of his method of leaving, he did it and I will say that it worked. He didn't want to be asked such questions so he left and no more questions! Problem solved.
@@Cacowninja I mean the interviewer Is pressuring him so much he handled it correctly this is a movie interview not a past interview if the interviewer wants to ask questions like that he should have said can i ask some questions about your past? Everyone makes mistakes and has their issues. Hiis life has been laid out for public view since he drew his first breath! Channel 4 should not have tried to dredge up old news. To see rdj put on the spot like that about his past actually makes me sick. He is such an amazing person and inspirational man, why does he have to bring up that??!!
I saw this three years ago when it happened... seeing it now still makes me upset. You can see the hurt in Downey’s eyes. You just don’t talk about stuff like that. Especially when it’s so far behind them.
If you watch the original interview you can literally see his breathing get faster and heavier, and he's getting uncomfortable. He literally asks for another question and he has, sadly, had a "dark" past that I think he shouldn't be pressured to talk about. He really shouldn't have to have this type of conversation with, essentially, a literal stranger. How would you feel if a stranger tried to ask a personal question that is unrelated to the actual interview?
This is probably the first time I've been happy about what the news was saying about it. They agreed that the person who interviewed him was way wrong. And also praised Robert for being professional. ❤️
He made a same mistake "playing Diana Sawyer" with Quentin Tarantino making promotion for Django. All you people need to understand that they are making PROMOTIONAL interview for AVENGERS. Personal question, especially the one which could harm the movies PROMOTION are kinda out of the game.

Lol Robert Downey Jr.'s expression after the question was like, "Are you even a human being or some kind of soulless automaton."
The above quote sounds 3000% like Tony Stark
It is an interviewers job to ask the celebrities questions, within a certain limit. That interviewer did not have the right to bring up Robert’s past. Robert handled the situation extremely well. He is a well respected and very talented actor now and that interviewer can...(you can fill in the blank)
What is the name of this pathetic excuse of an interviewer who according to comments section has been asking these ridiculously pointless questions to several celebrities and still has his interviewer hat and badge?
chamegir thanks!
@@Cacowninja I mean the interviewer
Is pressuring him so much he handled it correctly this is a movie interview not a past interview if the interviewer wants to ask questions like that he should have said can i ask some questions about your past? But no he's just firing questions without thinking so Robert actually had the right to walk out and i mean he's not Tony he's Robert downey jr.
RDJ is cool okay... so don’t mess with the dad figure in marvel!
coolest dad on screen and off screen!!
Am I the only one who sees the irony of these two covering a rude interview
Yup! U'r the only one. And you watch Hoda and Kathy show??? That's ironic....lol
Women will always give there unbiased opinion 😂😂
@@carloscaro860 low key
@@carloscaro860 "women" Really? That's just sexist you could have just said other news reporters...
Dhanashri Kakade and yet here you are giving your opinion
He has turned his life around and become a great. He should not have to put up with that.
RDJ overcame a lot of demons to become one of the greatest actors in history. I don’t blame him for not wanting to open old wounds.
And you wonder why celebrities and athletes don't like talking to the press. Sometimes you don't want to revisit a dark past or talk about personal topics on demand. First asking about his dad, then his time in prison, then his history with substance abuse when it was supposed to be about his upcoming film that's pretty foul!
@steven[]seagull you're speaking truth! Idk why he felt entitled to Robert Downey Jr's personal business
RDJ is a class act man. He's proof that there is life after addiction.
He was all over the media in those days. For him to come back out, start over and become one of the most loved MCU characters ever was amazing. And for someone to throw away the last 10 years and dive back into a dark time that he has worked so hard to leave out of his life is messed up.
i am very appalled at that interviewer or lack of one.
He should be fired for trying to bring up bad memories from the past a great person and actor has
The interviewer doesn't ask those questions his managers and network do.
Uncle Sam's MisGuided Commentaries this interviewer is well know in Britain for his uncomfortable interviews and the questions that are too personal. He would have constructed those questions himself
Dude I have to watch that interviewer every night for the news, dude still didn’t got fired
Tyler Battle *get
josh Lee You’re a big man
Maybe he was told by the corporation to ask about it. Just a thought, and now he's being torn to shreds. It's between him and Downey, and he's having his name torn apart. IM NOT SAYING IT WAS RIGHT TO ASK THE QUESTIONS but imagine two women talking to the country just shredding your name because you were threatened to get fired for NOT asking. Im just saying, nobody actually knows, which is why Downey was able to stay so collected. He's knows it really do be that way sometimes.
What’s his name?
bc he was "sentt" to do that to RDJ. Because RDJ isnt a liberal so the big media told that guy to go in on him and try to get under his skin or shame him. Its the most evil thing I've seen in a while smh
I love that the crew filming the interview was even like, woah, that’s way out of line and supported RDJ. He deserves better than that. He’s an inspiration!
When the interviewer is laughing when he leaves. Dude should never interview again
Personally, I agree with RDJ. I would have walked out too! He did express, in a rather polite manner, that the interviewer was getting off topic. His past is exactly that. Everyone makes mistakes and has their issues. Hiis life has been laid out for public view since he drew his first breath! Channel 4 should not have tried to dredge up old news. It was unprofessional and reeked of super market tabloid fare.
Now this is what's called "class and professionalism", boys and girls.
Kudos to RDJ, the very reason he is one of my top actors!💯
*claps of respect*
Robert you did a great decision, it's supposed to be avengers interview, not in the past plus no one wants to talk about there past you have no idea he or she has to go through 😐
I already admired Robert but THIS just made me love him even more. He handled that so well and so professionally. What a champ. :')
This Interviewer made Tarantino mad too
He made Richard ayoade mad too
Made Michael Jackson look bad too
@@luke8801
That was Martin bashir. Another horrible reporter.
i see you everywhere
Poor Robert. He was trying to hold back his tears 😭😭😭
😂
daniel barnes you know that’s a laughing face
Good for him. That interviewer had no right to ask him that.
yeah, i would have walked out too. that was an ambush.
Robert Downey Jr is amazing. I love that he was able to get up and walk out. That interviewer really crossed a line and he was done with it
robert is probably one of the easiest guys to make friends with and this interviewer just made robert hate him instantly.
I watched the real one and by the end ...... MAN you could hear him breathing.... Heavily.
Truee ...... so trueee i also took a note of that
Link?
he's a great actor but he's even more impressive in real life
what a privilege to share a universe with this man, however distantly
Stop bringing up stuff that doesn't matter anymore everyone has had a couple of dark days .those who haven't haven't had there ability to over come them tested they will never understand
"your legs shaking you better ask your other question"
You can literally see Rdj’s heartbeat pumping the moment interviewer pushes himself off topic and invading rdj’s dark past...
Mahn that is so relatable....
Awesome 👏🏻 good for Robert Downey Jr, love you!!!
"Riiiggt...goodbye"
Lol he was so collective yet affirmative with that one
It's day time......why the hell do they need glasses of wine?
LeyLey it's part of their segment lol... Trust me they do it all the time
Have you ever studied psychology? Did you know the highest paid psychologist work in the advertising business and entertainment industry? Nothing in this video is a coincidence. This was not an Avengers interview, it was a setup! I am glad Robert walked out. None of that should have ever happened. Mr. Downy, you were right to walk out!
As a British person We don’t except the interviewer. He’s a jerk to everyone
You don’t “except” the interviewer?
@@martinc.720 how tf y’all invent English and can’t even speak it 😂 😭
When you try to shame a man for his political views but it doesn’t work:
“Im about to bring up this mans traumatic past”
Never, and I mean never, bring up a man's past when he has done so much to change.
After the interview RDJ: Jarvis, bring me a suit.
Lmfao, that interviewer made so many celebrities get mad and walk out.
So that's how iron man defeats thanos ..... Walks away. Theory confirmed
tru
The Diane Sawyer comment RDJ makes at the end that they didn't show made the entire interview!
Watching this made me hurt and cried. I loved him more 3000 whatever his past is. He's a great man.
Good on RDJ for being mature about it , other dude was crossing boundaries on that one though , yeesh !
At least try and get it right. It was not ITN news channel - it was Channel 4, and their co-lead Kristin Guru-Murphy who is a gutter trash interrupting news presenter & interviewer of the highest order.
I thought that was Martin Bashir the same guy that interviewed Michael Jackson in Neverland!
That’s so Tony stark of him when we was like bye bye 👋🏾 😂
Good for him!! RDJ did the right thing the interview was supposed to be about the movie not his personal life! Bravo!
RDJ was like "what do you ask me?"
TODAY: is named TODAY.
Me:lol this was made 3 years ago
We are all here because the comments on the original are blocked, are we?
yep
Yuuup
The charisma of RDJ is so much similar to tony stark
For a second i thought he would have blasted him with his armor reactor😂
Downey commands such respect and even shows a friendly demeanor until he gets fed up and straight up calls the interviewer out, the full video of the interview really shows RDJ is great and always composes himself well. This man is a composure god.
Imagine going to an interview about a movie youre in, thinking youre gonna be asked questions about the movie, but they ask you questions about the time you did drugs... i would do the same thing
That interviewer was out of line.
He was very rude
"Do you think you'll ever be free from that....(traumatic event)?"
Dude, what the f?
He gave him a chance for his dumb questions but he was so calm just bye😇 you can see the tears in his eyes 👀 💔
Ok I thought this was gunna be like disrespectful and all but I’m dead LMAO I love him sooo much ‘right bye’ HAHAHAHAH
Robert Downey jr. .....
Best interview "move" EVER!!!!😎
Yeah that interviewer has had multiple celebrities walk out on him
RDJ had every right to stop the interview and step out of it.
The interviewers have a right to ask questions its their job but what he asked was uncalled for, and really really rude and none of his business.
That’s RDJ’s personal life and he should be allowed his privacy just like us normal people are allowed ours.
At least he was respectful to this interviewer and just calmly stood, said “Right, Bye.” And walked out with no drama. Like a professional should act.
RDJ is an amazing actor, he’s one of my favorites and he’s so humble and so kind and has really risen from the ashes like a phoenix, he’s overcome a really big obstacle and is thriving.
That interviewer was so rude, off topic and that was really a low blow because people in the situation he was once in as an addict who did time are always going through that process its life long it doesn’t stop once you get over that hump.
That woman is 100% right, he should be celebrated for his triumphs, not judged for his past.
Rdj said bye so nicely and he even said sorry after the interviewer asked the question
This guy didn’t care about the movie he wanted to ask these questions from the beginning, he did the same thing to Quentin Tarantino
Yes, I remember he disrespected him. I would have walked out as well.
Dam right
he handled that well
Is the guy interviewing Robert the guy from the news in Shaun of the dead???
Freddie P3CKHAM yep
Idk what you're talking about can you send a link ? Appreciated👍
Right when the interviewer mentions his father you can read Robert's thoughts on his face, and he was thinking: "oh my God, here we go again"
That's not a question about The Avengers, that's a personal question. He handled it very professionally.
