I have a 2014 Camry. If I were to shut off the ECO light, will that actually shut off the ECO mode? The reason why I am asking is my wife is a bit annoyed by the ECO light, but we love the gas economy of the ECO mode. If there a way to shut the light off and also reap the benefits of the ECO mode?

My 2014 does the same thing. Its called brake assist, the dealer told me all Camry's after 08 models do it.

I have to agree with wellrounded713. So, if I were to disable the ECO mode display will really improve the driving dynamics of the car? I know my wife's 2013 Rav4 have a manual switch on the dash and it does makes a big different when you switch between ECO and Sport Mode so I'm wondering if it works the same on the Camry 2012 or newer? You can buckle it behind you, or get one of those seat buckles(Amazon should have some) , or cut one out of a car you don't use and just plug it in... But you're better off just driving with it on.

I think it does change shift behavior. Before I did my atf flush, I would get a hesitating /shudder between 2nd and 3rd gear, with eco off, it was a much more apparent shudder, with it on, it was much smoother. So this may be anecdotal, but, I think it does change the shift behavior of at least my 2014.5, 2.5l CAMRY SE.

There is no "ECO mode" to turn on or off. The ECO indicator light tells you when you're driving economically. Mash the gas, the light goes off. If you're cruising or coasting, the light comes on.
