Didn’t Brad Pitt say that War of the Gargantuas was the movie that inspired him to become an actor? It’s also cool that these two films are canon to the Kiryu saga as well.
Poor frankenstein. If the humans did save him from the giant octopus, he would still be alive in godzilla against mechagodzilla and war of the gargantuas.
the Gargantuas need to make a comeback
Andy Serkis as Gaira
Micheal Dougherty wants to remake the Gargantuas for the MonsterVerse
Yes it does
And dogra
I love both of These movies.
Frankenstein Conquers The World was a favorite of TNT back in the 90s, i found a lot of promos for it on RUclips.
War of the gargantuas is really good
Kids in the 70's that grew up in Los Angeles were introduced to WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS through the KTLA Channel 5 Movie Theater. This is where the SAME movie would air FIVE NIGHTS A WEEK during prime time, so we got to watch War of the Gargantuas every damn night of the week. In fact the chances of ever running into anybody in their fifties that grew up in L.A that has NOT seen this movie is almost impossible.
I find the Gaira and octopus fight very fitting. Frankenstein's monster was originally (in the Japanese version) killed by the octopus so when Gaira attacked it in the opening of the film it was Frankenstein's Monster on course of revenge since Gaira and Sanda are both monsters made from the cells, a small bit in of the Frankenstein's monster in Gaira wanted revenge for killing him in a past life or his Father since there both the offspring.
I finally watched Frankenstein Conquers the World today YES!
War of the gargantuas is my favorite non godzilla movie ever. Awesome action, decent writing and some good characters. If toho is gonna do any solo movies do sanda and gaira
Reddit sent me. These videos are excellent quick reminders of everything over the past 65 years and are fun to watch. Keep it up!
Thank you!
I got that double pack of War of the Gargantuas and Rodan signed by Kenji Sahara.
Ah, the recurring tentacle hentai monster. And then Kong ate him years later. :D
Thanks for this video! While that ending with Frankenstein and the Giant Octopus was random and anticlimactic, I still like it because it's there is very little chance of ever seeing Toho's take on Frankenstein's Monster ever again in any official media from them. If you're wondering why, it's due to Toho being very legally paranoid about coming into conflict with Universal over the usage of the character despite Universal really just owning their takes on Frankenstein's Monster.
Oh, by the way, did you know that including the alternate ending, there are actually four kaiju in Frankenstein vs Baragon? The often overlooked kaiju that appears in this movie in addition to Frankenstein, Baragon, and the Giant Octopus is the Giant Boar. That kaiju was so obscure, that I spent around 10-15 years not hearing any fan other even mention this kaiju, and when I finally did; some fans believed that it was just a regular boar.
Here are two links you will probably want to look at. They are Wikizilla articles on lists of minor Toho kaiju (really obscure ones that don't even have copyright icons) and an article on Cast, Japanese company that organizes events around and creates merchandise for various tokusatsu productions in cooperation with companies such as Toho, Kadokawa, and Tsuburaya Productions:
wikizilla.org/wiki/List_of_minor_Toho_monsters (You're going to have to scroll down to the section "Other Toho films" to see the very brief section on the Giant Boar)
wikizilla.org/wiki/Cast (The Godzilla Ornament Special Effects Collection line is notable for producing ornaments of extremely obscure or minor things from the series, such as the Mystery Bones of Infant Island or the Giant Lizard.)
Both canon to the Kiryu Saga.
Baragon is a good doggo
Frankenstein Conquers The World is a much better name than Frankenstein vs Baragon tbh
Would love to see these movies brought to maybe the hollow earth or our earth for future monsterverse movies..
I agree with you 100%, Frankenstein vs Baragon is better than War of the Gargantuas
I know of a song by rapper Pharoah Monk called "Simon Says" uses a sample from on of these movies.
What is this music you're using? It sounds like the Frankenstein vs. Baragon theme, but a new cover of it.
Was Sanda's role played by Nicholas Cage? Haha
It’s nicholas cage favorite film BTW.
That's. Frankenstein's sons, name Sanda and Gaira
Frankenstein has 2 brothers!!!???
sometime in the modern age it is very likely that one day mankind chose to exceed the limits of their humanity after frankenstein and the gargantuas had been studied mankind may have managed to utilize the properties of their cells into their own this led to creation of The Titans
How was baragon made
I think it's because they wanted godzilla to fight Frankenstein and toho still wanted a fire breathing reptile so....Baragon!
Never understood the shitty posters in Germany and other country's
