I love the look of the serving personel : "He speaks Japanes? "
the scraping of the plate like nails on a chalk board
I thought exactly the same thing! Been eating with chopsticks so long he's forgotten how to properly use a fork and knife 🤣🤣
"Scarpeta" Italian scrape the plate with bread !
There's something peculiarly lovely about a middle-aged man taking such joy in a spoon.😊
I know, right? I never used to care about food. Now, it's my passion.
All the food looked expertly prepared and tasty, I'm very impressed. Only 77 Big Boy restaurants left in America, 69 are in Michigan, there are 279 in Japan.
Weird I have one in my home town
We have like 4 left in Michigan now lol
No Big Boy burger? I am disappointed for once. 😭
👍✌️
They didn't seem to have the Big Boy double decker burger on the menu, which is what the mascot is holding! Some trivia: The Big Boy is what McDonald's copied the Big Mac from back in 1968, a la Jim Delagatti (sp?), a franchise owner at that time.
I just watced that movie the founder it was Crazy.
Wow, your Big Boy is way better than the ones near me. For family restaurants I have always ranked them right at the bottom. But hey, maybe they have changed their menu since I was last there. Looked like a decent feed ---I had no idea they had Buffalo wings...
We used to have Big Boy in Pittsburgh, and they all closed up. I've never seen wings on their menu, and I'm surprised this one doesn't have burgers.
@@Geno2733 I think they did....just no buns on hamburgers there...1:10 mark on video
Yo critical 😎
Wish we still had Big Boys here.
Enjoying watching you eat.
@Leopold bwah ha ha
You look way better with a beard to be honest.
everyone does
BS
LOL ERIC BEARD TIME! This whole menu looked good ♡
Who doesn't love Eric's interactions with the waitresses? always as entertaining as the food itself!
In real life Eric.. You make my days worth it.. I think I can speak Japanese also. Lol. You're an AWESOME brother. Much love from the ISLAND. I may be a manic/ depressive but you pull me right back into the real life. S. Padre ISLAND as always. Surfs up. GET SOME!!
Cheers Marcus! Be well my friend.
He makes me think of Tom Hanks off Cast Away, where he's talk to Wilson, his volleyball.
*"Honey... pack yur bags. We're fly'n to Big Boy"*
Shot for every time Eric says mmm hmm!! That's when you know the food is fantastic. Love the content always a fave to watch. 👍👍
I love how much choice there is at the self service restaurants, everything looks absolutely great as usual, wish I was there 👍👌🇬🇧
that waiter just jammed out of there @9:36... lololol
How does this guy stay so thin?
Good question.
He eats a plant based diet and obviously if you watch the guy in the suit videos he stays active
Fast metabolism, i'm the same way.
His secret is he doesn't eat anything between videos.
I love/find hilarious that you instinctively put your hand under bites to catch when you are eating over a plate. 😂
19:24 Baby crying because Ericsurf6 ordered and ate the last onion rings😭
And rubs it in at 20:06 😂
The scrapping of the roast beef plate about killed me 🤣
The mashed potatoes and gravy looked great. I'm so hungry now!
Hell ya and some fried 🐔...
Watching the whole video I can learn Japanese, too!
Today's important sentence is: べつばらがあります!
@EricSurf6 - どうもありがとうございました。あなたのビデオはいつもとてもおもしろいです。
Yes! That's a good one Frederick.
Frederick König where the translation button 🤔
@@jadebell550 - Good question! Hey Google! Where is the button??
I feel sorry for the person that record all this it makes me so hungry watching it
Don't worry about the camera person, if I remember correctly he pays for their meal. He hooks them up
and we're does he fit all that food ,??
I grew up with a Bob's Big Boy close by in the 1970s & '80s in San Jose, California. The main menu items were a Big Mac-style double hamburger (with triple-layer bun) and the thick deep-fried French toast triangles on their breakfast menu. Good stuff!
waitress looks worried with the amount of food you ordered when you added the parfait she is like 😐🙄
Love how diverse and willing you are to try new things and educate us a bit. Thank you, Eric~ I'm a big fan of yours. You gave me ideas on where to go to in Japan. Big thumbs up to!
Lol Eric beard time ! Love it. This video was awesome as always and now I’m hungry 🙈 those steaks look fabulous on the menu, but those onion rings and the shrimp really look delicious
I need to stop watching your videos at 10PM at night, they constantly give me the munchies right before I have to go to bed. All the food looked delicious!
Eric I'm a pretty big eater but I can't believe how much you can eat your expenses for food every month must be off the charts to feed u every month insane
It's for the channel meaning he can write the bills off as business expenses. (at least thats how it normally works for monetized big channels)
@@jody024 huh, interesting. I didn't know that. 👍
I grew up eating at Bob's Big Boy especially when I would visit my grandparents in USA. I remember sharing a hot fudge sundae with my granddad which had chocolate cake and ice cream in the middle with hot fudge. Didn't see the trademark Big boy hamburgers on the menu.
as soon as Eric at 14:05 asked if we've ever seen him eat a baked potato, I actually answered out loud and we both said "never" exactly in sync with each other XD
XD
XD
XD
The wasabi spoon before dessert was hilarious!
Someone answer the bleeding PHONE!
I was thinking the same thing! I'm really chill but I would have gotten up and ripped that thing out of the wall and have gone ape st on it!!! Lol
😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
That parfait desert looked 👌amazing... I'm so jelous I didn't get to taste it! As always a great review 🤗
The shrimp looked so good, made my mouth water.
You know our boy Eric surfed his way to the couch after all that good! lol
eric, videos are awesome. i hope to go to japan in 2019
Loved the vid Eric! Except for the "nails on the chalkboard" early on when you were cutting the roast beef!!! I really enjoy your meal time series!!!
How was the 3rd piece of fruit? Rich or watery?
Rich~!
Ice cream parfait is definitely the bomb...Ending a meal on a high note
Eating salad with chopsticks 🤯
It's surprisingly better than you'd think. I hate eating ramen now without them. I live in Mississippi, so not every store has them, and that drives me crazy. I'm just going to buy myself a good set of them.
it’s normal in japan
The roast beef and mashed potatoes looked amazing, all it needs is a giant yorkshire pudding.
Loving Eric beard time, are there any Turkish restaurants in japan and if so have you been or planning to go ???
Another great video btw keep up the good work.
Turkish food~! Great idea. I'll add it to my list.
Big Boy in the states use to have some of the best burgers!! Onion rings were always spot on!! Would have been funny to see you feed the cameraman with that giant spoon!! Thanks for video!!
face need more smiling at the waitress! looks so serious!
It's different in Japan.
a big boy restaurant that doesnt have the classic big boy burger on the menu? whoa. its awesome how youve adapted out there. the waitress didnt even have to worry about speaking english. much props like always man, eat well
I always write a comment for a GetSome SnackPack, but I never know how to check. How do you know if you've won?
Winners will be listed in the video description of the next meal time video.
You must expand the description just under the video.
You have to give it to this man he's constantly working hard and very entertaining good luck Eric from London 👍
Keep the beard looks good 👍🏼👍🏼
I remember a Bob’s Big Boys as a kid in Maryland. Recalling an all you can eat menu and watching your video brought back some great memories of being with my family.
Did that spoon happen to accidentally come home with you? Lol
keep putting out these videos, they are cool, and i heard where a japanese investor bought the right to the big boy franchise, if they would make food like that hear in america, and at a big boy, it would go over like crazy, people would swarm that place
you are one of three favorites on youtube thank you for giving up your time to keep all of us informed & intertanded
Eric: "I'm going to go gor the berries way down at the bottom...."
Me: he's just joking... He's not gonna do it..
Eric: *proceeds to squeeze spoon down to the botttom of the glass... ;____; parfait had no chance after that lmao 😂😂😂😂 My anciety flared a bit when you tried 😂😂😂
It killed me. Eric is definitely a character, no doubt about it.
"Stop filling up on the salad... stop filling up on the salad..."
We had a Bob's Big Boy in out little town way back when. I remember going there once or twice as a kid.
Nostalgic, right Pep?
Heck yeah man, good times. The Japanese menu looks awesome compare to what I remembered from the 80's. I really need to visit Japan one of these days
How can you love uni but hate scallops, i don’t get it?
Good point. I got sick after eating scallops once a long time ago.
That is the exact reason I cannot eat a fillet O fish. Exactly one time a long time ago.
Scallops are unexciting and are a lot easier to mess up, uni is consistent and delicious.
Uni tastes like pussy bro
@@ericsurf6 Same reason I can't stomach Oysters ever, raw OR cooked. ^^;
Atlantic Salmon = farmed fish, with color added to make it that color. Looked like prime rib to me, regular roasted beef with shreds or cuts into slice, the pieces looks like prime. scallops looked more like oysters... Looks good.
Eric, how did you learn the Japanese language? Did you go to school or was there something online? I’m thinking about going to japan some day, so a reply would be much appreciated
I went to a language school for two years, but there's the internet now. Try Japanese Ammo with Misa on RUclips.
2 years!! Rough
Maybe the school can refund you
always fun to see restaurants in Japan, I grew up next to a Big Boy in my hometown, the flying style pizza burger's pretty simple but I still love to get some whenever I visit home. It looks like they really upped their game when it comes to the quality of food in their restaurant as well! Can't wait to see where you go next!
My god, sound when u cut that steak its so anoying..
sounds like a personal problem
Yeah, sounds like a personal problem buddy!
We can all agree that that is not steak lol
Then dont watch his video
Dude! Now I have to "GET SOME" prime rib. :)
Is it not polite to look someone in the eye in Japan while ordering? I notice how you always seem passive compared to how we act in the states and don’t say much to the servers. Also noticed it seems to look like how you’re supposed to act. Is it different in Japan in that regard. As you know in the states looking someone in the eye politely and thanking them is a sign of respect. It appears from your vids that being more passive and less engaging is a sign of respect?
It is different in Japan. Servers are trained to say the exact same things and generally small talk is not exchanged. Plus, I'm concentrating on making a video and ordering a ton of food.
Ericsurf6 Thanks! My best friend moved there way back when we were in middle school. And he said it’s more polite to stick to business than to converse as well. I hope to go there soon. I hope you didn’t take it as I thought you were being rude. Just noticed a difference in etiquette. More videos please! Love them all!
In japan, eye contact is deemed rude
That would be amazing to have servers like that, I despise the wait staff in America they are too forward & waaay too chatty, overall annoying always.
@@caliharris759 then don't go out in public, bud. They're in customer service, that's their job and that's how things are in the states. And believe it or not, we don't appreciate your rude, to yourself attitude either, but we suck it up anyway. 👍🏽
Mmm everything looks so good!
Somebody feed that baby please
I remember eating at this restaurant as a kid all the way over in Pennsylvania. Sadly the last one around closed maybe 15 years ago now. Their signature was the "big boy" or the big mac knockoff. Mine also had a salad bar
Nice video yummy food. Between I just noticed the color of eyes is beautiful and u look handsome in beard and I'm not Gay 😁👍
Omar Mir wtf bruh I love you lol
That sounded gay lol
Loved watching your videos. I'd love to see a video of you talking about your time in Japan and how you came to live in Japan. Would be interesting to watch, as this is something I'd love to do.
Does your stomach ever get upset from eating so much raw/barely cooked meats?
Watching your videos while eating makes my own food taste alot better
Are you single?🤔
So different. I grew up going to and still go to the oldest Bob's left in Burbank. I wonder if it stuck to that 40s/50s Americana car culture and menu it would sell well. I think my favorite item at Bob's would do well there, the chili spaghetti.
Eric why don't u ever respond to comment's
He's responded to me in the last video 😂
He does? He just doesn't respond to every single one, he's responded to two of mine in the past.
You know what's crazy is he has under a million subscribers and if you look hes had 365 million views!!!
hehas also answered me a few times
CHUCKIE'S BRIDE you're arrogant for expecting a reply . Watch the videos and shut up.
Japanese family restaurants basically serve B to C or D level dishes mostly because they are unfrozen dishes. But those salads look delicious. I definitely want to go there. There’s one far away but within my walking distance.
You give me anxiety
How
I actually find the videos relaxing to be honest
we have litchi in south africa its a seasonal fruit from December till february you buy boxes full for really cheap
Can't even look at you the same after how you acted last video.
Nancey Drew same.
What happened? Which video is it?
Maybe his true personality...rude and didn't want to be there.
Nails on the chalkboard Nails on a chalkboard Nails want to talk board Nails on a chalkboard... And that fork scraped along that ceramic plate oh my God!
Thanks for another great video. Watching you eat that salad made me hungry for one. That was an awesome looking parfait. Killer spoon too.
Nice one! Eric Beard time rocks !!! We also got Litschis too, here in Germany. They are kind of rare, but sometimes you find them. Love 'em.
I think I already made my comments food looks great I really like that parfait everything looks wonderful I had like to have one like that keep up the good work I really appreciate your time and effort that you put into your videos are very entertaining
Thanks so much Jerry!
I can't believe there is a Big Boy in Japan. I haven't seen one of those restaurants since I was a little girl!!! Loved the video!!!
Another awesome video! I am liking the beard thanks for taking us along for your big boy mea. The menu is a lot different there than in the states that's what makes it so exciting to watch I think!
I need to get a spoon like that for home. That's a serious parfait spoon! The spoon alone deserves a ranking of 6 :)
The green veggie w/ hexagon-look is Okra/オクラ to the Japanese & in the U.S., it's in gumbo. The other green veggie w/ all the bumps, *that* is bitter melon/ゴーヤ in Okinawan or ツルレイシ in Japanese. I think you're now more Japanese than American if you've forgotten tartar sauce! It's the usual partner to seafood. BTW, *Thanks for the lesson* on べつばら ~ w/my sweet tooth ... !
Bob's Big Boy has been around forever. The food pretty much looks the same and it's always homey and good. I always like their cabbage soup on the soup and salad bar. It's interesting to see how different the salad bar is over there but I'll bet there aren't so many Japanese people on diets as there are here in the States. It's also weird that they serve the baked potatoes so dry.
The last big boy in Omaha went out of business about 30 years ago! Grew up eating their burgers!!
Big Boy restaurants look like the Sizzler restaurants we have here in Australia. The parfait at the end looked delicious.
Everything looked great. I wish they offered wasabi with prime rib in north America. It is up there with horseradish. Thanks for taking us along and cheers till the next one!
I love your channel! The food assessment and humor is a rare combination and quite the treat! Full mid stomach, empty side stomach.. Bring it on! 😂... Dude you're absolutely entertaining! ❤ It!👍🏽🤘🏽
I also grew up in CA and remember Bob's Big Boy and their Special Sauce for burgers, aka Thousand Island Dressing. To this day it is still my favorite condiment for burgers. Beard is looking good. keep it short, easier to keep clean.
I looove baked potatoes. And that spoon is to die for. I saw one like that before and half tempted to take it lol great video, can't wait to see more~
Did they switch sauces from when you dipped the potato in to when you dipped in the salmon?
Hmmmm, not sure Dave.
Food looks amazing wish our big boy had food like this back in the day.
Wow the food is looking so yummy! Never heard of that food chain restaurant before
i wonder what the second waiter was thinking when he came in with the other plates of food and you just had like 6 plates already on the table xD
hahah ive never put on closed captions for these older vids but they are damn funny
Hi I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and I truly like them!! Keep up the work👍🏻 watching your videos makes me miss japan even more😭
I like how you go balls to the walls on every place you go lol. Good stuff
The short ones ,"goya" are called okra, very good for the body, especially for preventing cancer :) keep it up eric!!!
