Congrats man. You done a super job, not easy to get a longtime parked car fired up again when there's multiple unknown issues popping up. Just a suggestion, in life in general, we all find people who agree with how we do things and people who don't. Just keep doing the great work you done and you'll always have people who appreciate it. Thanx.
Few things: Ford called them "Fordor"'s not sedans. Might as well get that terminology down. The two door versions were called "Tudor" Ford was pretty creative back then. Recommend that you drain that fuel tank before adding anything, the original had a plug. And rebuild that carb. Then if it's still not running right, do a compression test, the valves are notorious for sticking open on cars that have set vor years. That turn signal unit is an add-on, in 49 they didn't come with turn signals so all of that wiring has been added on by someone along the line. Best to start over with all of it. Make sure of what transmission you have (overdrive or non overdrive). Often people would bypass the electronics in an overdrive transmission and if they rigged it and you put into reverse you may destroy a transmission. Just my opinions
Additionally, I think there is a trap door in the trunk to get to the top of the fuel tank. It is worth your time to pull the fuel level sending unit and make sure that you aren't sending rust right back down the fuel lines and into the carb
Six volt horns will work on twelve volts, but are extra loud. Try a Dodge ignition resistors, one for ignition, the other for dash.

Beautiful Car, glad you like it
Hi from Québec, Canada. I am in a 1949 project to, a barn find like yours. I got it running to... thanks for your awsome video!
Don't forget, that is a positive ground vehicle.
Just make it a solid daily driver, enjoy it 👏👏👏👍👍
Yes, more off the ford, make a great daily driver😀🇳🇴🇺🇸
49's had inline fuses only no panels is correct'
also my wife was born in 49 & her madden name was you guessed it. go for it enjoy I'll sit back & enjoy it.
Rookie you don't need all that crap just to start that car
I think we who watched your earlier efforts are convinced that you do know what you're doing. You had some trouble-shooting to do first. That's what good mechanics do. Please don't listen to shade-tree critics. I'm sure your loved ones are very proud of you.
A simple wire from the battery to the coil should have been all you needed to get spark to the points.
When I was a kid my Dad had a 51 Victoria 2 door Hardtop, with the Flathead V8. When he traded it off it had over 120,000 miles and still ran good, He traded it in a brand new 58 Chevy Biscayne. He was so sick after he sat down and cried. A few months after he bought the Chevy, GM canceled the warranty saying that no car could break down that much without being severely abused!!! A couple weeks after he traded off the little Ford he tried to buy it back but couldn't close the deal.
Remove the fuel tank, remove the old "manual" fuel pump and make a blanking plate to cover the former mount position to protect internal parts of the engine. Now go buy a cheap electric fuel pump and wire into the system.. Napa or any auto parts have these. Set it up where its powered when engine is running powered off when shutdown. Change or clean tubing tank to carb an install filters..System must be clean!
i just watched the first video you did with it and subscribed i want to see what you do with it
Awesome video man👍👍thumbs up!!!
I'm motivated to change out the harness on my 49,
Only thing was the gauges how did you wire them up with the voltage reducer? Would you be able to do a video for that 🤔
Keep the channel going 💯💯
All the gauges are still the old 6 volt so I just need a voltage reducer for the power wire running into each of the gauges. Then for the actual signal wire I'm pretty sure you just need any 12 volt source, lots just go straight from the alternator or generator I believe

Sounds good I will look into it
can
you post more
I would sand it down and repaint it
A real macanic would hot wire it
Sorry, too much rambling. I couldn't enjoy the video. Could have been so much more interesting.
You talk too much bro, that car should be running by now
I agree
