  • If you are looking for an AMAZING, BUDGET FRIENDLY destination, BULGARIA SHOULD BE ON YOUR LIST! I had the most amazing time in Plovdiv, which is the second largest city in the country and also named the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2019! There is so much to see in this amazing city, from its historical district of Old Town, to the young and hipster Kapana, to their endless cobblestone streets filled with amazing shops and restaurants. Bulgaria is definitely an under rated destination for the average north american tourist, so I hope this video will have you considering it on your next international adventure!

Living in Canada is definitely not the same as living in Europe and Bulgaria. Thank you for sharing this amazing video. It really helps to get a new perspective on mid-COVID travel. It seems to me that not too many people are concerned about the global pandemic. Probably their mass media is not so fear driven and doesn't try to depress Bulgarians with a daily dose of negativity? I believe this is a major difference between North American and Bulgarian mentality.

@@digitalsniper2055 The media acts the same in Bulgaria as it does pretty much everywhere in the world, the big difference in my opinion is that Bulgarians (a significant number of us at least) generally don't trust our media, our government, etc. At first everyone was rather scared, then we saw that it's not as bad as they portray it so many of us are trying to live as if there was no pandemic, which there is not (in my opinion).

Philippopolis / Filibe / Plovdiv has an amazing history! There is an incredible historical record to explore in a city that goes back 8 millennia! This ancient Thracian settlement was subsequently invaded by Persians, Greeks, Celts, Romans, Goths, Huns, Bulgars, Rus people, Slavs, Crusaders, Turks, and Russians - before the emergence of modern-day Bulgaria. Bulgaria is a truly a jewel within Europe, but relatively few know or appreciate this. Thanks for sharing the splendors of Plovdiv with us - on a frugal budget too, Alina!!!

The oldest name for Plovdiv is Pulpudeva and it was Thracian established city. Thracians and Romans controled the region. After the liberation of Thracians here on the Balkans in 7th century we established Bulgaria Empire southern. We have Thracian descent but Thracians are actualy kind of amalgam of close ethnic tribes that was formed from the time before Christ up to 4th century after Christ. Herodotus said that Thracians were the biggest nation after the Indians but they lived in separate kingdoms, spoken the same language with different dialects. Just like the Slavs now do.

Alina, you are so frugal, yet find the best deals and are able to enjoy a little bit of luxury along the way! I love fluffy hotel pillows and comforters - breathable warmth or cool. Have to say I was smiling watching you wake up and climb out of the covers - do you wear a nightgown, LOL? Of course, I knew you would be discreet! Nearly had a sugar overload when I saw the kunefe. Would probably love it - I get the evil eye cast my way sometimes because I put maple syrup on my hash brown potatoes and atop my omelettes and bacon strips - but hey, it makes ME happy! Have to say that some of your vlogs just delight me to the bone - feel like I’m there with ya - “hey, ya wanna go see this place, or try that food?” And the beauty in your photography, composition and color, is as good as published guides and coffee table books - such an eye you have. Enjoyed the music, too, (stereo - shhh), and yes too bad no royalty free Bulgarian, but they gotta make a living too. Celtic and old gothic worked this time. You’ve mastered the art of travel and video! I don’t want to miss a single vlog! Love always ❤️!

I did not know where would be the appropriate place to put this, I I just picked your most current youtube. Anyway, I happened to be randomly going through the "Dating Beyond Borders" and in the "You know you're dating an x woman when" I idly picked Russian woman and was so delighted to see you in the starring role. I don't know how many years ago you did this gig, but I really enjoyed seeing you.....I admit, I was so surprised that I had to look at your character for a couple minutes before I realized it was you and then I looked at the credits. I hope it was a fun time of life for you and I really enjoyed seeing you there. Всего наилучшего!

Nice video! I visited Plovdiv last year and it was amazing, I really enjoyed visiting! Excellent rate on that room, I thought the exact same thing when checking in to my hotel - the prices there are incredible. Looking forward to seeing the road trip - thinking of doing something similar in the future so keeping an eye out for places to visit!

You must come to Romania and cover some places... Yes we have some issues with the infrastructure like highways, railroads and other stuff, but if you could shoot these lovely videos in Bulgaria (witch i salute as they ar my neighbors) you will find some amazing places also in Romania. I'm based in Craiova, the biggest city in south-western Romania and if you plan to visit Romania and this side of the country I'll be more than happy to guide you around here and giving you some tips about the area and places to go. It's not so cheap as in Bulgaria, but the experience is even greater. Great job with the work you do, keep it up!

Hahah we spend a lot of time in Bulgaria but never go to Happy 😂. Love Plovdiv and that whole area. The restaurant I miss the most when back in Canada is Tigan (тиганъ) in Varna. It’s that classic cafeteria style and everything is so comforting and flavourful!

I know we all feel better knowing the way you start your day, having a rest like you do makes it more comfortable and great to know where you get your energy from. Refreshing to see everybody getting along together, it has been missing for a long time in America. Great photography, Alina. Your video's are tops among the thousands of others on UTube.
