My g6 plus with gopro hero 7 will freeze when pressing the gimbal to stop recording. Start recording OK. Mostly happened with resolution higher than 1080p
SOOO relaxing. I keep his videos on in the background at work and they have a great calming effect. Even with the hustle and bustle of the city...still so calming & relieves stress
Mine too; although it's changed a lot from the 80s...so many front street new stores and so many fenced frontyards now. Amazed to see how big are the trees now 🥰.
This video is the best I've seen yet about the neighborhood. I'm the record guy on Astor Place for 20 years. I was working that day. That is my silver van and my record table on the sidewalk that are visible in the beginning of the video between about :35 and 1:20. Whoopty-do.
Really, really enjoying this series. Your narrative style is perfectly informative and not intrusive. I’ve learned that I love walking the streets of NYC and this is the next best thing to bring there.
Used to work in a "head" shop after school in the mid-60's. It was in a basement storefront on St Mark's near 1st Ave. The East Village was at the time transitioning from a Polish working class neighborhood to one filled with the "true" hippies fleeing from the commercialization of the Village around Washington Square. Me and my mates used to hang at a Polish restaurant on Avenue A. Fun times.
I came across your video and it was so clear I felt like I was there. I am from Texas but have never been to New York and likely never will. I kinda like in the quiet country. It was so well done, thank you! Will watch others you've done or will do.
Mistie Richardson - hey mistie- I knew a mistie in Richardson tx in the 80’s. Sister of Shane. You know, I live on st marks. Outside of town we have country. not even 2 hours away with farms and everything- skiing too. Some really good. But wherever you choose to live in life things are expensive- pay is commensurate with where you are. Pretty much. Back to what we have here: We have deep flowing rivers to canoe upon. And canoe camping trails to enjoy. We have crystal clear lakes in less than 6 hours away (ADK) with moons and bright stars and a pretty and clean warm ocean in the summer with cool beach culture. It is actually the best region I’ve ever inhabited. And I’ve lived all over. Montana was nice though... sigh. Are you sold?
Another great one. St. Marks is, of course, one of the most fascinating streets in the city, and over the centuries has been home to Hamilton's widow, Leon Trotsky, Abbie Hoffman, and many, many more. And most of their homes are still standing. Thanks for the walk.
Swillko Barfington Continue a few blocks West on the same street and you run into Electric Lady studios...Hendrix ,Zeppelin & The Stones on the same street .
Hey K.! Thank you for this relaxing (almost) 30 minutes. Seems to be a great spot in the city - very interesting! 11:33 the man standing at the side with a great design on his shirt 😁 At 24:31 you can see a lettering at the house on the left "Deutsch Amerikanische Schützengesellschaft" - crazy but still kinda interesting ... Looking forward to the next ones! Keep on the good job! Hope you enjoy it! Greetings from Hamburg to NYC 😎

it's so interesting and kind of sad looking at the exact neighborhood where i live a year before. I hope things become lively again. Thank you for your video. So informative and nice! also @13:46, you passed a taco spot! It's called Empellon Al Pastor. Very delicious!
I lived here in the 70s. I lived in the building that the Gem Spa is located in. Everything is different. There are no shops that were there in the 70s except the Gem Spa. I find it sad that it has been taken over by a lot of chains but I guess that is the way most cities have gone now.
Wow! You could take a year to eat/shop at all the different places on this walk.I do have to admit I love the architecture the best. :-D Thanks again and take care,ActionKid!
Love your walking videos. I find them really interesting and all the facts you have is really cool. I’m visiting NY in a few months and I’m really excited to see all this for myself
I've enjoyed your walks through my neighborhood (East Village) and I notice that a great historical fact about Cooper Union, the balcony beneath the sign, goes unmentioned. This is the exact spot where Abraham Lincoln declared his presidency! The auditorium in CU is where many great Americans from Lincoln to Sojourner Truth have spoken. Great writers and more have read there, lectured, etc. Keep on walking!
At 11 min 26 sec the shop called Physical Graffitea is located in the building that was the album cover for the 1975 Led Zeppelin double album Physical Graffitti.
The same building can be seen in the 1975 Rolling Stones music video "Waiting on a friend" where they are sitting outside this address 96-98 St Mark's Place.

@@Curi0u50ne I'd love to take a walk with ActionKid down Avenue "C" and just point out the famous musician buildings with him..."That's where Rob Zombie lived... There's Joey Ramone's old place..." It was, and probably still is a place where lots of musicians lived/ hung out. Cheap rent and lots of clubs. Things have changed a lot on St. Mark's now, it used to be a bit scary down there. You had to tough it out or get eaten.
I could have gone to Cooper Union back in ‘97, only thing that held me back was my grades, they only took A students, I still kick my ass about that sometimes, PSA, stay in school kids, don’t let your dreams die
Walked by Theater 80 St Marks and did not show the plates of the silent movie stars. There is a reason a shop is named after Led Zed's Physical Graffiti is because a building on the street was used as the cover photo for the album. I was lucky enough to live in the neighborhood for over 10 years until the rents went through the roof.
Used to hang at the BAR on St Marks and A, A7, St. Marks Bar and Grill and Coney Island High in the 80's early 90's. Used to be a good Caribbean place called Sugar Reef on 1st between 7th and St Marks. Fun days!

This brings back memories. When I lived in Westchester three of my friends lived in the East Village. At the time it was still called "The Bowery" and was the least expensive area to live in Manhattan. I used to take the #6 train from GTC to Astor Place. A whole "nother" world. It was a lot "sleazier" in the late 70's - early 80's. We used to meet at McSorleys and stop at Ray's Pizza. There was also a bar (no sign) called the "no-name" bar where you sometimes find members of popular "bands" hanging out. It was a popular haunt for the Keith Richards and the Stones along with the Clash and The Ramones. I think it was on a corner on 1st ave. I doubt the bar is still there. It reflecting glass all around it, so the patrons could see out but you couldn't see in. Maybe it was "Bar" or "Sunny Bar".
In 1993 i was hosting my business partners in NYC. We ran across a dive bar (can't remember the name) on 1st Ave around 9th Street - near Coyote Ugly. We had such a great time we "lived" there the entire weekend. Roach races down the bar. Nightly blues band wailing their axes about 5 feet away. Priceless. About 4 years ago two of us went down to try and find the bar and relive great times. We walked in to a bunch of hipsters (ironic beards and no socks) playing trivia games. Turned right around and vacated immediately. Ah well.......

Thanks, AK. In the pavement in front of Theatre 80 (9:35), there are plaques with the handprints and signatures of famous actors such as Myrna Loy (The Thin Man series), Joan Crawford, et al. Also, the Crif Dogs restaurant has a hidden speakeasy. Go into the restaurant and step into the old-fashioned telephone booth and pick up the phone to be approved. 😇
4:05 That has got to be one of the coolest interactions with the camera by a passer by in all of your videos AK. She doesn't make a big deal of it, she doesn't ignore you and she doesn't ham it up either but comes up with something better than a wave or cliche finger contortions. Excellent. :D

4:20- You missed FUNKYTOWN(MY FAVORITE PLACE TO VISIT WHEN I'M IN NYC) Great people that work there. 🤘
4:05 That has got to be one of the coolest interactions with the camera by a passer by in all of your videos AK. She doesn't make a big deal of it, she doesn't ignore you and she doesn't ham it up either but comes up with something better than a wave or cliche finger contortions. Excellent. :D
